You should try to mod it with a metal guitar pick or a coin. It would make alternate picking a lot easier.

If the paper clip is wrapped in electrical tape you're probably safe from electricity even if you had to worry about it - which you don't. The voltage from the guitar is not nearly strong enough to penetrate your skin (I highly doubt there's 30+ Volts coming off that wire), so either way there's nothing to worry about. No electricity is going through your body. You can have kids after all! lol

Thanks. You don't have to pick up and down, I was picking in one direction only at the beginning but found it easier to alternate during faster parts.

yea that would work. The idea was to make a metal pick but I got lazy. Whatever you use, make sure it is wired to the ground connection in the original switch.

nope. I could have but I removed it because it was broken. That's not strum bar clicking you hear, it's the sound of the paperclip in my hand strumming against the tight picture frame wire. In this video I actually have two wires going across instead of just one.

I'm a real guitarist and when I play I can't alternate pick for shit... I noticed that it's because I'm used to picking the strings not holding onto them and when I play fast I pick extra or at a weird speed compared to what I can do on a string where I only hit it when I want. I've found that I can actually play better if I hit the plectrum with a pick. I'm going to turn one of my Xpolorers into a stringed one... don't know where to begin however.

I haven't tried ttfaf with it, mainly because I broke the string and haven't bothered to fix since. But the response using exposed contacts is theoretically quicker than the original buttons, just have to get used to it.

It's pretty cool, it would take some getting used to in terms of timing. Maybe you could use some pieces of foam or rubber to dampen the sound of the strings a bit.

Props for the mod but hearing the sound of you hitting that wire when strumming is 100x more annoying then the click of the strum bar.

yup, the noise is pretty annoying but it's mostly because the wire is really stiff. A real guitar string should lessen this somewhat.
