Out of the entire TNBA this is the greatest. It returned to the BTAS days where it as Batman being Batman and doing detective work. No Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl or any other supporting character but Alfred. And the twist was great, not to mention it was rocky ground on whether the Judge was in fact a villain or simply Batman if he was more... human. Also the Two-Face theme at the reveal was brilliant and my favorite variation of the piece. Greatest TNBA episode.
@jsmannenlol Well, TNBA is just B:TAS but with the new art style. It was the same world but the characters had aged (i.e. Grayson became Nightwing and Drake became the scond robin). It wasn't a different show, just the same Batman show with a new artstyle and an older cast... but this also meant they had more sidekicks to deal with and the show lost some of the gritty Batman-centric episodes.
@jsmannenlol Yeah, The designs for the most part became kiddier. The Joker was ruined visually (the best joker incarnation was actually the Justice League one because it melded the two designs) but other characters got better designs.. My fave being the scarecrows redesign.
@xaayer my fave is scarecrow 2 but can you tell me if this is the last episode and what if scarecrow and killer croc from arkham asylm game was in the show
@videogamester07 Exactly. That was far more cool and interesting! Of course it's the only Penguin I know and this version of the Penguin was barely in about 3 episodes as a side character. Not a very effective villain.
Quite a tragic final episode, especially when you find out that only did Harvey Dent's psyche break again to create the Judge, but that, because Two-Face was oblivious to the Judge personality, he almost accidentally killed himself.
Probably the most surprising twist ending I've seen in a Batman TV series. Honestly, Two-Face was the last person on my mind who could've been behind it.
@GoldenFlither15 Let's just assume that Penguin's monologue on Harvey's clumsiness was longer than it was shown in the animation. Though it would have been super-awkward if that whole monologue took 5 minutes out of the episode, isn't it?
I hate how they redesigned the characters. They are far less interesting to look at. When I first saw the new Penguin I thought "so is this some sort of messed up clone?"
Even though I'm going to be the original Harley for halloween this year and people seem to be under the illusion that she is my fave character they are quite wrong.
If I had to choose between villains to be a henchwoman for it would be the Ozzy, Joker is too unreliable, two face is two faced (in this rare case three) but the Penguin has class...Plus his girls have cool outfits.
The Judge was such a great villain with which to end the series. He's a competing vigilante, and a facet of both the one friend he could never save and the one person he could never save him from, Harvey Dent himself. Sure, the series doesn't end on a triumphant note for Batman, but it's this bitter-sweetness that in part made the series so great to begin with.
if this werent a kids show you KNOW penguin would be dead and god the who aaaaaawww symphony law thing at the end is just.....sends chills down my spine
If anyone has any of these episodes on DVD or can upload them, PLEASE DO SO! I've seen every great show from the 90's up here EXCEPT Batman TAS! I'm sure the youtube community would be eternally grateful for entire episodes of Batman TAS.

@JMoney002 We never did find out what happened to Harvey in Batman Beyond. Bruce never mentioned him and it was never brought up. Now, Harvey could've gotten the treatment he needed and lived a normal, healthy life. More likely, his personality kept on fracturing and his psyche shattered so bad, one day, he just completely broke and never came back. Sad. The Two-Face storylines were always one of my favorites growing up. Intense and heartbreaking stuff.

Thanks for posting this up; I love this episode, in part because it's one of the few TNBA episodes that's as good, if not better, than most of the Batman TAS episodes; I especially like the scene where he defeats the Riddler since it's a triumph of a dark villain (Two-Face) over a corny one (the Riddler)

Much like any good villain, this Judge is a reflection on the hero.
A vigilante trying to impose his ideas of justice on Gotham.
These types of characters always raise such interesting questions.
Is Batman any better?
Why should one person's views on justice be placed above another.
And so on.
Just brilliant.
