DEMOCRACY is DEAD in NOVA SCOTIA was my first statement and here is why. The Sobeys have disobeyed the law and remain unpunished so it is a perfectly safe place for crack addicts to sell their wares for there is no law there. The people of nova scotia even had a plebisite to decide what it was they wanted the truest form of democracy and it was dismissed by your officials as to expensive to pursue. Nova scotia has been bought and you are paying the bill. How much did that plebisite cost NS??????
This is why i left Nova scotia, so i could find gainful employment. This way I get to keep my house, though it is falling apart becasue we are not there. My municipality felt my grass was over grown and that it needed a paint job and fixing up .Instead of calling They sent me legal notice to have it done or they would do it and send me the bill!!All of this after a friend of members of the council made purchase inquiries that i refused!!ALL AFTER MY PROP ERTY VALUE ASSESSMENT WAS JUST INCREASED!
That is the Bank of Nova Scotia. They called and threatened to foreclose on my mortgage because of lack of insurance. BUT They had a policy if i could not find one, that would cover only their losses. If the house burned to the ground they would get their money and i would get a hole where the foundation used to be. Why is it they can and do force me to buy this emergency insurance through them for their losses but i could not obtian any for me and my losses any where in the free market!!!
The INSURANCE COMPANIES are the GREATEST DETERRANT to the ECONOMY. When was the last time you saw a diving board at a pool???Paying more for insurance than the cost of the vehicle???When the insuance comanies and banks started sharing this vast source of legally enforced income my home was no longer insurable, the chimney had to be replaced my oil tank and lines, my roof had to be replaced because of some moss. I failed inspection and my homeowners insurance was cancelled. Then the Bank called
THIS LAW forces the offender to be punished a second time enforcing him to buy insurance whether he owns a vehcle or not if he wants to work where driving is required. The insurance company gets $2200.00 and the province gets $80.00 to lift the suspension. or you could walk for the next 2 yrs as i had no choice but to do. I went on welfare my family suffered geatly and i paid taxes to have the RCIP Royal Canadian Insurance Police patrol our highways and imposing fines for the insurance companies
It is the leagal system no one knows about. Not eneven the people working at the DMV (Dept.Motor Vehicles for you politicians) they wolud not believe me that the imposing of further penalties by the DMV like having now to have proof of insurance before they will issue your liscence not even owning a vehicle. or drive anyone elses vehicle without personally being insured (By possible EMPLOYERS) this law INSURANCE COMPANY LAW. Not imposed by the convicting judge or benifitting NOVA SCOTIANS.
I got caught driving my vehcle that i purchased where i was working to home uninsured. It was my fault i knowingly disobeyed the law. But how else was i to back and forth to work? IT WAS WINTER AND WAS WAS GONNA BE DAMNED IF I ALLOWED THE INSURANCE COMPANIES MAKING RECORD PROFITS TO RESTRICT MY ABILITY TO PROVIDE FOR MY FAMILY. F*%# EM was now my attitude. the convicting judge told me? $1200.00 fine and that was the total penalty imposed by the law of NOVA SCOTIA. There is another legal system
My insurance went from $400.00 to $1200.00 the same price i paid for a used truck i found. Because it took me more than 3 months to save the money and obtain another vehicle.the whole while hitchhiking to work everyday rain and cold included I EARNED the NEW DRIVER STAUTUS at the age of 40 with 22 years of experience down the tubes my insuranced increased to $1700.00/yr all because i tried to be Nova Scotian and help a friend.
Things weren't as bad economically when i returned to nova scotia. If i could find work at least i could afford the insurance to get there. wages were still literally 1/2 what i earned in T.O. (cost of living differential)I still made a fairly good living and managed to buy a home for my family.UNTIL.I had the misfortune of loaning my friend our vehcle and they had an accident my insurance policy was then cancelled and i not only had to find another vehickle to get to work i had to insure it.
I returned home from ontario in the early 90's and came home because it was my lawyers advise. I had an auto accicident i swerved to avoid a car (performing an illegal act) trying at least to save someones life or at the very least seriuos injury. I hit a parked car. The irresponsible driver was very apologetic and explained the situation to the authorities when they arrived they asked if we had made contact. No we hadn't. i was wholly responsible. my isurance went from $1200.00 to $4000.00
I was born and raised in Liverpool, on the beautiful south shore i served my country for 3 yrs saw no combat am no hero and am not a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. But they did ship me across the country and I saw what a grand land we all live in. I visited Toronto, Ontario for ten years. Where else does a young Nova Scotian go when employment prospects are bleak because we pay $50,000,000.00 annually to keep the St. Lawrence Seaway open so all the work can go to Ontario and Quebec.
Finally A public forum for the truth about Nova Scotia!!!! we'll see??? Pls respond.
Democracy is Dead in Nova Scotia. I am recently displaced but I am still a BLUENOSER!!! It SICKENS me litterally to see Nova Scotian Politicians spending your dollars coming out west to try and get expatriots to return. What are they offering???? Why do they think we left??? I will tell you my story and maybe someone can convince me that the government is working for me and in the best interest of Nova Scotians
keep fighting the good fight!
