great video. id love to find a big harvest crew like this one and go work when im like 18. ive loved big farming all my life, but i dont live in the midwest :( thanks for the vid tho. now i can show this vid to my friends and tell them to respect farmers >:)
Interesting...my surname is Beckley. I'm from Spain. My dad's surname is Perez and my mum's is Beckley. As you may know, everyone in Spain has a first surname ( father's ) and a second ( mother's ) So, my name is Alex Perez Beckley. I should research bit more on this village, maybe i could get some royalties ; ) LOL. In fact, the founder of this place was John Beckley, ( maybe he is an ancestor of mine who knows )
just an outstanding video...while we are not nearly as big, in our hay season, to do 1600 acres three or four times you really do just "GO" for weeks and months at a time...like always coming or going from a big fire...when on field is a done another is ready....thank you for the video :>
so im new to this whole custom harvesting thing and to be honest it looks really great. but what exactly are the working conditions for a operator though? like how bad are the hours and how long are you away from home? dont get me wrong i'm all for puttin in all the time i can to get the job done but if it's hell for 7 months straight i wanna know now before i get hooked and persue it as a career. any help is appreciated...
@mudder01player We do put in long hours. When the crops are ripe, the weather dry, you can find us in the field. When it rains, we have some time off. It is all weather related. We are away from home for about a month, then back cutting around the Colby area, then gone again for around 2 months and back home for the fall harvest. So gone 3 months total
yall guys have one of the best harvest crews I have seen on here you look like a realy go getting crew i think i have seen you close to stratford texas once or maybe dalhart texas i forgot but yall keep hammering down guys and make a hand i worked for haynes harvesting at home he used to run 9 9760 with 35 foot draper headers that was a sight to see in the field
how many acres do you think yall harvest im from NC alot of guys around here pick there own they own from 1 combine all the way up to the open grounds farm where they own 10 deeres how many acres can you cut and is it the only thing you harvest
Don't leave till the middle of May. Only have 1 combine at the time. Waiting for the factory to call to go pick up the other 5. Headers are loaded, but that is it.

We hire at 18 (which is old enough in KS to get a CDL) and we hire people that can go for a full season (mid May to the end of Oct.)
