Georgia wouldn't even exist if Russia hadn't intervened against the Turks (1/3 of modern Georgia was Ottoman Turkish territory seized by Russia and given back). Georgians conveniently forget what happened to that part of Georgia that remained in Turkey ? Where is that Georgian culture ? Gone, extinct. That would be all of Georgia without Russia. Ingrates.

Osetia is not part of Georgia. Osetia was part of Soviet Republic of Georgia from 1921, not before. Osetia separated from Soviet republic Georgia in June 1990 - it means long before Georgia separated from USSR in April 1991. Osetians wanted to stay with USSR and RUSSIA and their land was never part of any sovereign Georgia. It means that Georgia attacks Russian territory and kills civilian Russian citizens!

There is no Abkhazia or Ossetia. Russia aka the Soviet Union denied the sovereignty of Ossetia, Abkhazia, and all ethnic enclaves right up to the present day. Including Chechnya, Tatarstan, Yakutia, Udmurtia, Bashkortostan, Karelia, Dagestan, Kalmykia, Adygia, Mari-El, Ingushetia, and so forth. Russia, who created the Georgian borders that it now finds unacceptable, is trying to maintain its empire complete with Abkhazia, Ossetia, Georgia, and, yes, even Eastern Europe.

Saakashvili is not, however, and to claim that there is ethnic cleansing going on in Ossetia or Abkhazia is ridiculous. I note also that Russia excused the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo. Why? Because their fellow Orthodox Slavs, the Serbs, were conducting said cleansing.

It started 16-18 HOURS BEFORE Russian troops arrived and begin to punish them for violating the international law and international agreements.
