personally I think the internal style of Tai Chi is better. Shoalin Kung Fu and Karate are both external styles which means that they both rely on strenth and power. However, Tai Chi uses an opponents strenth against them. Attacking a Tai Chi master is like attacking water. If you don't know what I mean try clearing a lake of water with punches and tell me if your successful. Even Bruce Lee said that you should be fluid like water.

shotokan is good for speed and points fighting, mainly Kata (performance) based... other styles such as kyokushin are more for fighting

shotokan is ok i guess, i've seen some decent shotokan, thoguh finding a good school may be hard. look at the calsses first and see if you like it. look for a challenge, like odn't go beucase it's easy. go so you can learn soemthign you didn't before. kyokushin i recoomend, though those are hard to find

It seems to me I need to get a 30 jiu jitsu veteran to show some people here the virtues of wing chun.Most jj guys don;t know what contact-reflex training is; also UFC has hired employees(you can figure it out from there).This JJ guy can offer some insight as to ridiculousness in allowing UFC matches judge the value of the arts. In end, it's the skill of the individual fighter in his respective art, not so much the art itself.
