Today the term evangelical is synonymous with fundamentalism and disagrees with an accurate view of scripture. They seek to live by the law, impose a political agenda and make Christianity into a show rather than authentic discipleship. Evangelicals like the Liberals have made grace cheap by either rejecting grace for law or forgetting that it cost Jesus everything.
The informal guide to Evangelical beliefs and identity (in less than 500 characters)-
Doctrinal tenets are the same as Fundamentalism (ie., the five fundamentals), although dispensationalism and YEC are far more optional. Add to that a less separatist and more culturally engaging attitude that is far less likely to pass broad condemnation on science in general, and in many cases, what you see in Evangelicals is a less dickish form of Fundamentalism.
hey aren't you catholics just a bunch of pedophiles and shit? getting molested by some 40 year old minister with beard stubble..count me out. anyways your religion is a dogma and god isnt even real so stop wasting your time a some bullshit church when you could be having fun sinning and shit
Thank you Dr. Ryken for helping out your first freshman class on their BITH paper... If you could make a video for each paper that I need to write for the rest of my college experience at Wheaton it would be great.
"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."
When we accept God's grace and mercy in Jesus Christ we are BAPTIZED with the Holy Spirit...
Although, the act of being baptized is a very important public proclamation of your devotion to Christ.
so, is a born again christian an evangelical? and if so do they believe the acts account of salvation? and do they believe that John 3:5 is the same as acts 2:38
So what he's trying to say is that it's basically all shit

Evangelical theologically defined means shallow christianity, lacking substance.

I'd pay to see Dr. R. put it in those terms.

You will burn in Hell. Only TRUE Christians (Catholics) will go to Heaven.

Evangelical is an anagram of vaginal eel...with a 'c' left over.

So... Evangelical Christians are the more stupid breed of Christian then?
The scriptures of the old and new testament are the inherent and infallable word of God... Sounds like you went full blown retard.

This is perfect for the "What does it mean to be an evangelical" research paper......kind of eerily perfect that it happens to be Dr. Ryken.......

It appears you're not an evangelical if you believe that baptism is synonymous with salvation.
In short, if you believe that baptism saves then you've embraced a perverted gospel.
