Bernstein did us a favor with the rising high note at the end of Brunnhilde's redemption motif, a la Solti's Walkure. And with the incomparable, late Thomas Stewart, my favorite Wotan, this performance is truly spectacular. Bravo to Leonard Berstein! [I met Mr. Stewart in his dressing room at the S.F. Opera after a performance of Siegfried. He was just as wonderful a person as he was a singer.]

Interpretazione di grande respiro...che rammarico pensare che Bernstein non sia mai andato a Bayreuth...eppure lo avrebbe meritato eccome!!!
