On the album version, there are 2 guitar parts going at the same time. Then a 3rd guitar comes in on top of it to do the solo's. So the songs sounds alittle off live because there's only one guitar player playing. I'm surprised the singer Perry never picked up a guitar to fill the holes. Most of Navarro's over dubs guitar parts are pretty simple. Sucks because this is one of my favorite songs. Kinda wanted to see them rock this song out live.
call me crazy but i think the heroin made him a better singer. check out the newest live stuff from him in 2009. namely the west palm beach concert. pretty bad. and in 2009 i think hes clean.
That seems almost universal...look at early, early Doors for example when Morrison was an acid-munching, pot smoking walking pharmacy. His work was brilliant and then later on he just turned into a drunk and the music really suffered. I don't know why, artists seem to be at their peak when they're in the throes of some sort of addiction.
