Ali gave his daughter, Umm Kulthoom in marriage to Umar.There are at at least four separate Hadiths attributed to the Imams which affirm the marriage of Umm Kulthoom to Umar.In fact, the 23rd chapter in the Book of Marriage (Kitab an-Nikah) in Furoo Al-Kafi is dedicated to the marriage of Umm Kulthoom and it is called “Bab Tazwig Umm Kulthoom.”Two of the four Hadith are in this chapter,while the other two are found in a related chapter on ’iddah after marriage.
We read in al-Jazairi’s book Anwar al Numaniya , vol. 1, p. 60
“Indeed Imams are his (Abu Bakr’s) descendants because Jafar Sadiq’s mother Umm Farwa was daughter of Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abu Bakr”
Jafar Sadiq said “Abu Bakr gave me birth twice”
Ummadut talib p.195,Kashaful Ghumma, vol.2, p 373
Hasan, the elder son of Ali, married Hafsa bint Abur Rahman, the grand daughter of Abu Bakr, hence Hasan was the son in law of Abu Bakr’s son, Abdur Rahman
