what program are you using? did it come installed on the computer or did you have to install it? I use photoshop alot but wanted to have program like artrage or similar to be able to draw my cartoons on
Is it possible to turn off so it only reacts to the pen when you draw?
I am trying to figure if I should buy a regular laptop, new wacom drawing tablet or something like this.
I recenty tryed a homebrew called Colors! on Nintendo DS and it worked pretty well actually, but the screen is small and theres no problem with resting the hand there hehe :P
@jimmarn Touch input automatically switches off when the pen is close enough to the screen (the pen need not touch the screen for that). So, only pen input is active when you are writing or sketching...
I am thinking of getting this pc, but I have found so very few reviews by actual artists on how it works. I wanted to ask you if you still like the hp touchsmart now that you've had it a while? Also, I have an intous3 tablet already, can I just use the pen from that instead of the pen that comes with this (since you say it is so bad)? I think this little computer would be perfect for me but I would love to hear what some digital artists think of it for their work first.
I have looked every where for this pc (search on the whole internet) without any success, can you please link the web store where you got your pc or another store that got this amazing computer :)
thanks very mouch for this vid, and honestly, I really love your drawing. one of the best on youtube!! :)
@plektrum93 You can get them at bestbuy.com (in the search you type: 1338362).
Or you can go to hp.com and find it there! I'm buying one very soon, I can't wait. The main reason I'm buying it is to have a digital sketchpad, rather than having to use my wacom separately with another computer.
@DeludedDarkness Thank you very much for your answer but are you sure it is exactly the same model (1050EF) and not any other model from HP for the one you linked is called 2150us? Maybe I am wrong, I do not know much about computers.
Actually, I'll buy mine the same reason as you. It's just annoying with a tablet between hand and computer. My computer seems perfect for my purposes so I hope to get one soon :)
Sooo sorry this took so long. I never check my inbox on here.
Regardless, I bought mine, this same model as featured in the video, on the HP sight on Black Friday, ultimately saving myself some 100 dollars or so. I didn't buy from BestBuy.com because they only sell the base configuration rather than letting you purchase something customizable. I would highly recommend buying from HP.
But guys in general it is ok. Temperature is good, weight is good, battery life as I tried it was just like all the reviews about 4.5-5 hours (not 9.75 as they claim). Try to adapt to what you have, and keep treating it delicate and keep the screen and fingerprint reader clean. It is good in general, at least compared to the price. I never dreamed of having a way to draw directly on the screen, jot my notes, and sketch without paying at least double the price. Sorry for talking much, good luck!
And be so nice and delicate when turning the screen, because if you get rough the screen starts getting wobbly and the hinges get loose (remember 2 hinges mechanism for 2 directions, so the trouble is doubled).
Also the fingerprint reader is somehow annoying, I can't depend on it to login for a presentation or business meeting (I need to swipe my finger at least 2 to 3 times, even more).
Sometimes the tip of the stylus doesn't point on the screen accurately (a small distance difference)
1 thing that all the videos and reviews that I went through during the entire 2 weeks before I bought it was that the screen could be scratched by the stylus. In fact the stylus it is relatively safe to use the stylus on the screen, but once there is any dust between the tip of the stylus and the surface of the screen with some pressure your could cause a scratch. On the amazon there is a screen cover for those kind of touch/stylus screens. At least keep the screen clean. I got a tiny scratch!
hey may i ask what version of photoshop are you using? I have a touch smart but if i try to use my pen its not picking up on the pressure. is there a setting i have to put the computer on?
@awesomepersonjb If you want to work in sunlight, take a look at a Fujitsu tablet instead... Non-glossy screens, reasonable outdoor viewing and around the same price. They use the same Wacom touch / pen panel.
TitashTheMeerkat, this is an excellent video, thank you for posting it!
@oztabletpc Come on, Fujitsu tablets are much more expensive not around the same price!! Fujitsu and Dell manufacture good tablets but sometimes near to double the price.
@rockstarhinata I already bought this tablet and I'm using it right now. It's really good, and unlike my previous computer I didn't notice any kind of lag at all even with the Photoshop CS5 64 bits which is resource consuming.

1 more thing to ask about. I heard from a few people that you can't actually rest your hand on the screen while drawing or sketching, because the multi-touch function will sense that. Is that true, anybody knows anything about that, especially the guys who used this machine.. thx for the help..
@VideoDocR the guys video here, didn't really show clearly if he was resting his hand on the screen while drawing or not. because many artists claim that if they can't rest their hands on the screen while drawing, just like on paper, then this won't work for them because it won't feel comfortable. so guys please tell me if you know anything about if someone can rest his hand on the screen without affecting the drawing etc..
@TitashTheMeerkat That's really cool, and useful to know. Now just 1 last thing to know: What is your general opinion in this machine, do you like the feel of the pen in your hand, and how it responds to the strikes of the brush? I know that's really important when it comes to artists.
By the way, honestly, I don't know how to thank you as you really helped me a lot without knowing, plus that your video is really the best sketching one here on youtube. Thank you :)))) !!
The TM2 will automatically turn off sensors for your fingers when it senses the EMR pen near the screen so you can rest your hand on the screen while using the pen to make notes or to draw.
@VideoDocR you can get a digital artists glove not only does it prevent from the capactive screen from picking up your thermal or electral signature but it also prevents dirt and oils that come from sweaty hands to build up on the screen!
@VideoDocR also, when you have the pen near the screen, it preempts any other inputs. The trick is not to move the pen too far away, or you start pressing things with your palm.
@triggrhaapi Hey I already bought one, and thx to who made this video as it was a strong reason for me to confirm that I should buy it. I already discovered that the stylus disables the multitouch, thought first that it's something annoying not to be able to use both at the same time (touch & stylus) because there is already a disable option for the touch in windows 7. But when you adapt to any features you face you turn them useful.
@thejosephij guys for the pressure sensitivity thing with the photoshop, you have to download a kind of an update or plugin or something. Try to find it on the internet, but there is a solution for sure as I heard from people.
But what I need to know before I buy this one for art work and sketching:
What is your impression guys, who used it, about drawing on it, and the feel of the pen in your hand, how much do you like it. Is there anything you didn't like about it. Plz tell me guys, importnt
@thejosephij Original stylus is so bad (few pressure level). To have more pressure level: 512, you have this stylus on wacom website: PL-900 Stylet (Stulus) ;)
@VideoDocR And I have to add that this P-900 stylus costs an extra 60 Euros (around 90 dollars)! But all the feedback in general about this tablet compared to it's price is generally good. If you want anything a bit better then go to Dell, fujitsu, lenovo, etc. tablets, but those start from around double the price of this one for a few extra advantages (e.g. lighter weight, DVD drive included, faster processors, more accurate screens, higher glare screens for outdoor usage, etc..)
@VideoDocR Be aware that the Dell tablets do not use the Wacom Penabled Active Digitizer and do not work with photoshop pressure sensitivity. This was also the case with older HP Tx series tablets. All Tm2 models use the Wacom Active Digitizer and will work well with pressure sensitivity with an updated Wacom driver, usually avaialble from the manufacturer.
@oztabletpc Thanks I really wasn't aware of that. I also had some issues with the fingerprint sensor, and all I had to do it to update the driver and it worked very fine.
Btw, I watched this video for the first time about a month ago, part of my research on this TM2 tablet. After going through the Amazon.com and all the videos here about it, I knew the pros and cons, and how to play around with many settings to improve it. Titash the maker of this video really helped. Then I decided to try it.
@oztabletpc And it is really good. Except for a few things that I really expected because I researched everything. It's not the best to say the truth, but COMPARED TO THE PRICE, that's the best in the marked in my opinion. I admitt if I had more money I would have got myself a Fujitsu or something like that for the extra slim design and lighter weight, and the really more durable parts, but I am happy still with what I got.
@oztabletpc And I really didn't know about that in the Dell tablet, I really thought that they either use Wacom technology or if not, even a better one. Because Dell is well known for good tablets. But I guess Dell is more about business and companies more than artists and drawings, and that's why that's the case. Anyways a driver update for this too could do the job. Thanks.
@VideoDocR Yes, a driver update with the Wintab API would do the trick, but there is a standoff between N-Trig (the tablet manufacturer), the Manufacturers (HP and Dell) and Adobe... As far as I have heard it is still not resolved. Win 7 drivers have been a big problem for Dell tablet users and their Tablet support is very dissapointing to date. Think you dodged a bullet by going for the Tm2 which as you point out is great value for money despite any flaws.
@VideoDocR And the only thing that I'm concerned about, is when a german guy here on youtube posted a video, showing that stylus fails to be accurate in drawing straight horizontal lines, and that could affect drawing and designs. But I will keep investigating a bit more and tell you what I do find. In general especially after my french friend's video (this one) i feel much confident about buying this one. Thanks everyone.
@TitashTheMeerkat Actually I thought it was a driver issue. I experienced the same thing with my tablet pc (an olde lenovo), where pressure sensitivity worked flawlessly in Artrage and not in photoshop. Using the latest wacom tablet pc drivers resolves the issue, but unfortunately stops the passive touchscreen as well. If in the TM2 it's the stylus' fault, then screw it!!!
@MrSteppenwolfie Check the Lenovo website for an updated Wacom touch/digitizer driver. The issue is with an API called Wintab. The driver that ships with the Tablet does not support it, but you can download a driver that does, usually through the manufacturers website.
@TitashTheMeerkat It doesnt matter what pen youre using.. the screen will still recognize only 256 levels of pressure. I have done some research and the only 2 tablets that can do 512 levels are ModBook and Fujitsu T5010. I think im gonna get the T5010 some day..
I already bought one, and the pressure sensitivity is really bad.
2 STYLUS QUESTIONS (ABOUT THE PRESSURE & ABOUT THE STORAGE):
1. Are you sure guys that with the PL-900 Stylet stylus the pressure sensitivity increases? Maybe not to 512 but as Titash is saying the sensitivity improves a lot?
2. I wanna buy the PL-900 Stylet but DOES IT FIT IN THE STORAGE SPACE OF THE ORIGINAL STYLUS INSIDE THE TABLET? If it doesn't fit in there I will loose it.
@MrsTessixD Thanks :) Sorry for long reply! :( Yeah it's a verry good laptop for a mobile use... The best for me. But not for home use. ;) he battery takes a long time, it is powerful, the tablet mode is very good, the multitouch tablet is in practice mainly for the web, drawing the stylus is fun but not very accurate. I original stylus is so bad. I had to buy a better, more ergonomic and practical: Wacom PL-900 Stylet (Stylus)

MrSteppenwolfie 1 year ago
@MrSteppenwolfie Check the Lenovo website for an updated Wacom touch/digitizer driver. The issue is with an API called Wintab. The driver that ships with the Tablet does not support it, but you can download a driver that does, usually through the manufacturers website.

@TitashTheMeerkat I have looked everywhere for the is pen but can't find it, does it have another name or do they not make it anymore?

@TitashTheMeerkat I tried looking on the US wacom site for the PL-900 but couldn't find it, any chance you can help me out?
Jeshuchan 1 year ago
@TitashTheMeerkat It doesnt matter what pen youre using.. the screen will still recognize only 256 levels of pressure. I have done some research and the only 2 tablets that can do 512 levels are ModBook and Fujitsu T5010. I think im gonna get the T5010 some day..
YTDekus 1 year ago
@YTDekus
VideoDocR 1 year ago
@VideoDocR For question #2, I mean that it looks larger than the original stylus.

i bought one and.. how u calibrate the pressure function to work with photoshop..?
AndreYokoyama 1 year ago
i can't have pressure sensitivity either
thejosephij 1 year ago
@AndreYokoyama Original stylus is so bad. To have more pressure level: 512, you have this stylus on wacom website: PL-900 Stylet (Stulus) ;)

@TitashTheMeerkat On your recommendation (merci beaucoup) I got a UP-911e stylus on ebay to use with the TM2 I just ordered from HP!

Givemesomemilk 1 year ago
TitashTheMeerkat 1 year ago
TitashTheMeerkat 1 year ago

could you maybe tell me if you like it?

MrsTessixD 1 year ago
@MrsTessixD Thanks :) Sorry for long reply! :( Yeah it's a verry good laptop for a mobile use... The best for me. But not for home use. ;) he battery takes a long time, it is powerful, the tablet mode is very good, the multitouch tablet is in practice mainly for the web, drawing the stylus is fun but not very accurate. I original stylus is so bad. I had to buy a better, more ergonomic and practical: Wacom PL-900 Stylet (Stylus)

Meghann25 1 year ago

Wylf02 1 year ago
TitashTheMeerkat 1 year ago

DitiPenguin 1 year ago
