Everyone that has been enchanted by the "Into The Wild" story should be introduced to these Dick Proenneke movies. If you want to make a trek to AK, go to his cabin too. He did for many years what that kid couldn't do for a summer.
great point. "supertramp" walked into the woods, found an abandoned school bus and spent the next 4 months dying in it. what a story. thanks for illuminating us, sean penn!
"Alone in the Wilderness" is an amazing film and I was blown away by Dick's incredible building and survival skill's! He was so tenacious and precise when he built this cabin and it's truly a historical monument!!
This video freaked me out I thought the plane was still flying and I was waiting for the engine to stall out cause it was going so slow and then a person appeared on the outside of the plane,
Yes. I will post another video tonight. You are free to wander in and out at will. All of the original artifacts are still in place. The only thing they dont permit is walking on the delicate tunder adjacent to the cabin. A non paid volunteer camps there all summer long.
Great! I hope that it is left untouched(except general upkeep)and the way Dick left it! I would gladly volunteer to stay there and camp..LOL! I would definitely have to brush up on my survival skills though! LOL. Dick was an amazing man. My father could build amazing things out of scraps of wood or lumps of coal. True men. We can only dream of being as tough and rugged as men like Proenneke and my father.
@Cameraguy1968 : he died of a stroke in 2003...

He was alright until he ate the wrong shrub.

@JurkoffJay
According to the book what most likely kiled him was fungus on the shrubs not the shrubs themselves.
