and just today, obama's wife was quoted that for the first time in her adult life, she is proud to be American. Yes. The new American Way. Steal speeches that appeal to mass voters to vote for change. How much change can we expect from someone who lifts a great speech from another politician? Again, it's just another attempt to win the beauty pageant and be the most popular. No substance. Just words. And another's words at that. It's quite sad.
Hillary Clinton is such an unethical, shallow, characterless, and disgusting individual. These juvenile tactics are pathetic and demean our entire political system. How someone can be so caniving and disingenuous is beyond me.
it's not about what hillary thinks, it's more important what the public thinks. he lost great big point in credibility for not crediting patrick's words.!!
Since when are fired up and ready to go Obamas words? He plagiarised. If it were Hillary it would be all over the news. I would like a president that expresses his/her own words and thoughts, after eight years of a president that couldn't think for himself, look where that has gotten us
I've been saying it all along! Not of this governor, I guess that is not the only leader Obama has plagiarized. Yes, that "Yes we can! Si se puede" everyone is chanting about, and that "CHANGE" speeches, I recognized so many words of a loved Mexican PAN candidate from 1988 (Maquío...si se puede!). Lies hide until the truth comes out.
For truth and substance, not candy-coated bullshit RON PAUL 2008.
At this point, I really don't give a shit who came up with a good idea, I care about it working and improving our situation. What they should be fighting about is who is the best to implement these ideas.
Obama had permission to use Duval Patrick's words. Plagirism is when you don't have permission. McCain stole "fired up and ready to go" from Obama. Clinton stole "Yes we can" and "change" from Obama. Why are people paying attention to this?
There's a difference between Clinton's usage of "change" and "yes we can" and Obama's actions. Those phrases were not created by Barack Obama. It's not like we didn't have change before him.
Clinton started using the phrase "Yes we can" and putting change on her posters after Obama did it first in the campaign. Those phrases are not original to him, but you have to admit that she copied after he had success using those phrases in Iowa. Plagirism: the UNAUTHORIZED use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work. Obama had permission to use Duval Patrick's words. Therefore, it was not plagirism.
Plagiarism is unauthorized use of another's words and this was authorized. Everyone knows that the words that the candidates use are not their own because speechwriters write them. It is not unethical to use someone's words or sing someone else's songs, etc. if you are not profiting from it financially. This is a man who has written two books, and people are getting all worked up about three sentences in a speech? People really are so gullible and easily fooled.
What she used his ideas and his language and tried to take his words in most of the debates. This is good for Obama because now she can't steal his words later. This is great he is brilliant.
Pat is always trying his best to discredit obama. It's funny. I give him credit he tries his hardest to be even with obama. But I know it's eating him up inside that obama is still in the race and doing so well.
Borrowed words. Big deal. The media is totally playing on this. I'm not a big hillary fan but if she used the same language that bill used before, it would be the same. If he were to pause to bring up deval patrick in the speech it wouldn't be effective. I bet even patrick would agree. That being said it's good for him cause it's going to be a lot worse if he goes against a republican
They're only stolen if the guy you borrowed them from doesn't want you to use them. All people in politics use speech writers and many of them borrow from each other when giving speeches. I think Katrina is right and that this entire argument is silly, and not productive, but it's out there and the rhetoric needs to be countered. I think the Clinton campaign didn't do themselves any favors here and the whole thing distracts from more important issues which should be discussed instead.
you obviously don't know the meaning of plagerism. this was nearly an exact speech in response to hillary arguing that he's only words. the sad thing for Obama is that he can't even claim that they're his own words.
I dont give a shit about obama or clinton. I'm not even from the US. But what he said was FAR from a speech. It was a catch phrase or a slogan. They will always be reused. I'm shur you say things somebody else said first aswell.
03:45 Katrina: '...that's part of the problem, the disconnect in this country between people on Hardball and what's going on in people's lives and what they want to hear from the candidates...'
What goes around comes around. It gets a whole lot worse than Hardball.

What a storm in a teacup.
Look, in 1964 the Democrats lost the racist vote to the Republicans. Penn and Wolfson want it back.
They are Clinton's worst enemies. It also implies that Clinton is not in control of her own campaign.

WTF Obama?
If your whole candidacy is about words, those words should be your own.
That's what I think.

It's still plagiarism. He passed the comments off as his own original work at first. Only after he was caught did he admit he used Patrick's words.
