The country needs to stop being a drug dealer and stop selling cigarettes and alcohol. It would make it much easier for people to not become introduced to it. Yet it is sold everywhere. As long addictive drugs are sold legally and the government profits hugely. Smokers and Alcoholics should get health care free. Lets not blame the victims here like we always have. Another socialist agenda. The solution to smoking is to CHARGE people for all their healthcare costs, either directly or through inflated insurance costs. This promotes freedom of expression (I believe this is an american virtue) and direct accountability for your actions. TAXING BEHAVIOR IS NOT EFFECTIVE.

The Cigarette tax is a VOLUNTARY tax! You arent forced to pay for it. If you hate this tax so much, stop buying tobacco. Anyone against this just doesnt realize how deadly tobacco is not only to the user but other people around them. The best most effective way to lower the demand and save lives is to raise the price. If you smoke, your paying for your own healthcare. Stop complaining.

This tax will do more harm then good. There are already tons of programs that give kids free or easy to get health care but to tax this will put millions of people out of business and end up hurting the economy even more.

I would love for you to have health insurance. But you are going to shut down an industry. You need to identify the difference between cigarettes and cigars. If you are raising the tax to get aid you will fail because the numbers do not add up with the current number of smokers in the USA.
