Evolution happens gradually, chicken's ancestor gives birth to something that looks a little morel ike chicken and so on until it is one. Chicken came from a pterosaurus, btw.

I'll admit the membrane-thing, I confused it with its other meaning. I wasn't aware of this meaning for the it as I haven't bumped into it.
