India never had great fast bowlers...! But must say Zaheer Khan is a consistent fast bowler, Although he is not as talented as some greats in world cricket.
Anyway last 2-3 years, none of the fast bowlers through out the world could consider great in ODIs. Dale Steyn is the only fast bowler I would rank high, but only in test cricket. He also not that good in ODIs.

It is all in the precedent. Indian cricket tends to worship its batsmen. That's why youngsters want to do good in that department and, as a result, bowling (esp. fast bowling) suffers.
The Indian team has always been batting heavy and after the Sachin phenomenon, it has grown more so. I think this is not a healthy trend.
