  • This is my go to guy whenever there is a tough-man competition around, very easy to understand better than most videos on the internet, only other is ESNEWS has a guy on some of his videos with some good tips.

  • I listen to Guile's theme while watching all these boxing videos. Aww yea

  • Ha! That's a young David Lemieux in the video. Cool!

  • Any one that says his stance is to long should watch his fights... this guy he doesnt budge.

  • Is there any experienced boxers in here that I could message? I would appreciate some good advice.. Thanks

  • @KILLZONER20 what do you need to know?

  • @pinkeyeso0 I'm 21, is it too late to start boxing if I want to get good at it? Also I'm very slim, would u advise bulking up or working more on speed and getting toned?

  • @KILLZONER20 no its not too late and it depends if you want to be a speed boxer stay slim, a strenght boxer bulk up and if you want to be a mix of speed and strenght you should tone up body and arms

  • @KILLZONER20 I started when I was 19. Im 3-2 as a amateur nw. im 21 nw. You dont try it you will be kicking urself when you really are too old

  • @KILLZONER20 I'm fairly new. I'm 20 years old 1-1. The biggest piece of advice i can give is to stay dedicated! If you're slim thats good, stay slim IMO. The lighter you are the taller you are in each weight division.

  • I wish the sound was better on this

  • lemieux is a beast

  • @theboywithmadhops French canadian family name what you expect bruh

  • Impeccable stance. Lemieux is a kickass boxer.

  • 2:30, his legs are too far, should be shoulder length, cuz movements will have to take more steps, creating more distance, and this boxer is already in a long spreaded foot distance.

  • @dimacar000 "this boxer" = David Lemieux

I think David is one of the best very technical boxers I know.

Just watch his fights and you will know.

and also I think that stance is perfect - nothing wrong with it.

  • whats the matter with this guy he keeps shakin his head when he talks

  • THERE IS NO PROPER STANCE

WE ALL BOX IN OUR OWN WAY

DOES MIKE TYSON STANCE LOOK ANYTHING LIKES ALI?? NO

    AND THERE BOTH GREAT

  • @jimmyjohnson691 i think its cos its more of a begginers vid, a total combat begginer needs to be told how to stand but after a while as you say youll develop your own stance.

  • @jimmyjohnson691 they still had to learn the basics before they evolved to their own style.

  • @Rivalbox say a tall guy fights a short guy on the inside, is the tall guy going to want to shorten his stance a little bit when fighting on the inside? If so how and how mutch? Thanks

  • @sz42781 generally a tall guy wouldnt fight on the inside because the shorter guy will have an advantage on the inside, but if it cam to it youd go to just over a shoulders width length of stanceand crouch slightly more and keep the elbows tight, hope tht helps, peace!

  • a its russ from that tv show

  • isnt that too wide?

  • Bla I live in South Florida, atm I box in a gym that mainly trains high level BJJ. We had some really great old school boxing coaches there ,but they left. I think I'm going to need a new place to box. I want some where not to expensive since I'm already paying for the Jitz gym. But at the same time I don't wanna be trained horrbly. If anyone has some ideas just throw me a pm, thx.

  • ditch the bjj

  • Its Russ Anber. A renowned boxing analyst/commentator

  • lol indeed

  • he taught it right never leave ur stance

  • so am i supposed to slide my right foot every tie i step or what?>?

  • yes

  • @mrjburgos69 you dnt have to slide it jus dnt lift it to far off the ground like no more than say an inch or so, but nvr take a step without following up with the other foot cos youll be off balance, peace!

  • i hell wanna do boxing but i dont want it for fitness i want to do it as a proffesion does anyone know if i can still learn all the things i need to know in boxing at a fitness place

    please answer back someone

  • It's ok to start there I guess, but if you wanna go pro you wanna find a good coach that trains fighters, not train people that box.

  • thanks

  • if u live in new york i can help(Bronx)

  • Find an LA Boxing gym or a WildCard Gym.

  • I just join LA boxing for fitness and MMA a month ago. Most of the stuff they teach you at those places are some combinations with out the fundametals. You need to go to a boxing gym for pros and amatures.

  • LA Boxing is a good gym.

  • Hey rival boxing guys check out rafter hanger on youtube

  • I have to agree with johnny on this one ive been a boxer sense i was 8 years old. my cousin brian Sleeman is a pro boxer/cage fighter and ive trained with him my entire life . The stance here is slightly wide. but not by much the thing i noticed is that is teaches no RANGE with the left hand when you hold your non-power hand too close to your face to tend to fight square. meaning your more of a target . check out Nick diaz vs scott smith Nicks boxing range is wicked.

  • I've studied boxing for a long , long time. Why the hell does this guy teach such a wide stance. This is the problem with coaches like Russ Anber. They never competed in professional boxing but they think they can teach. I NEVER went to a coach that didnt have a pro boxing career.

  • yea but if you've ever seen david fight coach anber knows his shit for real and i think his stance is fine right in between not to wide but not to narrow either

  • yea but... lemieux is 21-0 (20ko) right now...

  • be careful about what you learn on youtube. some of it is garbage and will do nothing but give you an awful bad habit.

  • Oh and that is 68 different belts (4 x 17). So only 8 out of 68.

  • And Rus Abner never fought pro.

  • All his fights were bum fights in Canada hand picked. Not one fight was in the USA he couldnt be the bum fighters over here.

  • Anber is legend but the sound on this video is shit

  • He dosnt sounds like a boxing trainer he sounds like a use car salesman. There is no way he is 15 and 0 with sliding footwork.Take good look at a boxing match and see if any of the good fighters are sliding around the ring like a skater. He needs to go back to be a use car salesman cause he sure aint gonna sale on that he is a boxing trainer

  • Wow! BoxingCoach000, easy with the trash talk. Have mercy on the us all. You are looking Russ Anber: The undisputed authoritative voice of boxing in Canada. And that kid who seem goovy on his feet, that's David Lemieux. He has grown into a terrifying knock-out sensation. Check his bouts on Youtube. He fights like a TANK. You can't mess with us...

  • He wouldn't last pro in United states.

  • Apparently a lot of Americans can't handle pro in the US either. Last I looked out of the 4 licensed bodies and 17 different weight classes, Americans only held 8 belts. And two of those belts they had to share with someone else. In fact, the entire HW division is dominated by Eastern Europeans.

And yes, I am a US citizen.

  • You have a point. This child obviously has skill,he should have gone pro in the U.S. That would have been great.

  • Is this a good boxing tip? I am 14 years old and really want to start boxing but I have no clue on what to do :/

  • join a gym mate theyll sort you out

  • lol...guys like a bobble head...

  • 15-0 all by ko i really doubt that and if it is true the competition they giving him must not be competition at all. the stance is too wide unless its a gimic to make other fighters fight like that and thats not really his stance but if it is theres no way hes 15-0 wit 15ko's i never seen him fight pro and u dont get ko's like that in that amateurs.

  • this is an old video. this kids grown up alot since then, hes pro now. hes still in his infancy of his pro career tho. he most likely hasnt fought top competition yet, they could just be feeding him cannon fodder, either that or he i really something special. i havent really followed him tho.

  • Dam that's a wide stance and he's off balance a lil girl could walk by and knock him down if u wanna see perfect balance dont watch the new fights unless there champions like mayweather pacquiao etc but i think old fighters had the best balance watch Joe Louis. Your boxing stance should be shoulder width like if your walking down the street half a step apart. With a wide stance theres no way u can step any further to throw a jab or move

  • Well it worked for this kid he is now 15-0 all by ko

  • nah its all wrong if you want to continue in boxing. weight should be on back foot and both legs should face forward. Also his legs were to wide apart

  • the info on moving forwards, back and side to side is good, but having the boxers weight on the frount is not so good, weight should be on the back foot, only my opinion of course

  • ur right cause if ur weight is on the back its alot easier to move around...if weight is on the front u become a foundation and if u need to move quickly it will slow u down

  • and you have a tendency to lean in towards your opponent which isnt good unless your trying to make contact.

  • Great stuff as usual

  • the legs are too wide if you ask me,,, he cant move so well

  • Watch lightweight fighters dude.

  • Hell, just watch Lemieux now. He's 21 (i think), he has the same stance as in this video, and he doesn't seem to have manoeuvrability problems at all.

  • Nice and clear explanation: if you have the bags and videos this clear, you can learn the basic of boxing. By doing this many times, you figure it out yourself - I guess

  • when your opponent stands like this, move always to the right side. if you get on the right side of his jabarm, attack him. i prefer a more frontal footposition.

  • no but if you are training somewhere regularly all of these videos can be tremendous help. But your right ultimately have to get out and do it....that's the best part.

  • Sounds like you got it figured out pretty good. When you make those videos let us know.

  • Its true, but it still helps alot if your currently in boxing and you wanna know more techniques. Online helps

  • Im trying to introduce myself to the basics before I go to a gym. Is that wrong?

The only place that teaches boxing is basically a YMCA so I don't know if they'll teach me any thing useful. Maybe you can help me by providing me with an opinion.

  • I would say its okay to watch videos to gain knowledge and an idea of what u are going to be doing but trying to teach yourself to punch is a very bad idea , u will train bad habbits into your punches which u will later have to work hard to get rid of , join a gym and u will get told where u are going wrong

  • I know I said I was going to join a 'boxing club" thats all they have at the place where I am. There isn't a full fledged boxing gym here.

  • @capshockeyplayer wtf are you talking about these guys train the best boxers around that kid in the video is ranked #2 in the nation for the youths so wtf do you know about boxing? "getting worked like a punching bag" ahahaha you can't be tought for it's not easy to learn, but not like you train anyway :P!!

  • @capshockeyplayer not jus boxing any type of combat, be it sport or real life,

  • @capshockeyplayer sorry to say. but ur wrong.

  • @capshockeyplayer Thats not really true. You can get to a certain level just by training and watching videos. But a gym and a coach is needed to really push yourself.

  • david lemiuex is a great boxing prospect, 12 fights 12 kos as a professional

  • how come he wen moving from his (the boxing kid not the trainer ) standing position to hisright does he lead with his back fooy he is opening himself up to be hit he is making himself a bigger target

  • Do these videos really help anyone?

Or do people watch these to make fun of them?

  • they help. but he should of also added the

turn moves. i'm a boxer and i watch these too see who's a good trainer.

  • this guy got good tips

  • im not disrespecting the kid but he fights?

  • your a damn fool size and muscle never determins a the strength of a fighter

  • kids scronny

  • But he'll probably kick your ass.

  • @carelessmorning dave lemieux?! No i can take him :)

  • @LilGood04 that kid is a pro. he would knock your ass out cold. don't beleive me? look up david lemieux.

  • is getting hit by a boxing glove hurt

  • yes depending on how strong someone is. If you get a good whack to the face it still hurts like fuck

  • lol, like the guy said it depends who your fighting

  • watch his feet and how his body is exposed with his footwork needs to keep that left elbow tucked in........????????good luck kid..

  • Zarkov, everyone has their own stance. You need one that suits you personally its not a one size fits all. I use a stance very similar to his, only my knees are bent a little bit more. For example speed guys legs would becloser so they can manuver side to side and backward faster. Power guys have their feet wide like his for balance and so they can have a steady base to throw punches from.

  • Comment removed

  • @zarkov47 that kid is a pro dimbass! look at his fights. look up david lemieux and call him a kid. yeah he really needs "luck."

  • when moving right slide leading foot left one (authodox)first to the right. then right foot to follow and asume beginning stance.

moving left back foot first front foot second. not as in the video. his legs were to far apart not bent enough looked a bit stiff not poised always keep you feet in contact with the canvas when moving.good effort with the vid but too many mistakes..

  • yeah the bouncing i wouldnt do, its really easy for sum1 to mess up your rhythm if ur bouncing and u cant counter as well and u lose power. only ali could put that off.

  • ya plus the stance hes in your not blocking your stomack to well

  • @TaylorSavageX i'm so sorry if this comment is 2 years old and you probably for got about it. anyway just saying. pacquiao can pull it off too. your comment is on page 9 in the comments if you don't remember. i'm sorry i couldn't resist.

  • Great tips.

  • how recent is this video..id like to fight that 16 yr old kid (if he still sixteen)

  • Good luck fighting him, he will mash your face. He is now 20 years old. He is David Lemiuex, a professional boxer with a record of 11-0-0 all 11 by KO. He only went a total of 20 rounds. If you think you can go more than 1 round with him your tripping.

  • I have watched him fight, and he is very very good, unless you love pain, I would stay right away

  • thx a lot good bles you♦

  • when i box i keep my legs close together my right behind my left about 1 foot behind and just go at it

  • no offence to this guy or owt but at my gym we learnt the stepping way or footwork because in a 12 round fight its hard to be bouncing around all the time because it wastes too much energy....

hope to hear a reply to this

  • I Go to two separate schools, one for MuayThai Kickboxing,Another for Traditional Boxing. Both teach a few ways of footwork. One way is to lightly shift your weight back and forth from right to left leg.second is to bounce, staying light on your feet and moving fast.one defensive stance is right (back) leg still, with front (left) leg slowly "bouncing" , which allows for a kick, knee, or punch combo to be thrown. also feet movement is important.switching from defensive to offensive uses energy too.

  • I agree partially, I think it depends of your weight. But I don't agree with a lot of points with that vid : 1- too much distance for the feet, he can be swept 2- when moving his weight is on the front foot sometimes, this is dangerous for your head.

  • so the front foot do i have to be on my toes? or what

  • you only stand on your heel on your back toe and always make sure to have enough space between your feet to move around and never let them cross.

you can pratice this by putting something on the floor and move around it.

  • ooo i see

  • why does he keep his feet so far apart???

  • there's not kicking in boxing. there's not kicking in baseball either. but mainly boxing.

  • greysabbath ru a fucking retard theres no kicking in boxing im gona mark your ass spam for being a fucking retard

  • that was one of the best information ive ever found on you tube Rival gym ive seen the mits you make there very good .I hope you post more information .Also i would love to know where youre gym is located. Iam an up coming boxer.with little experience And I want to develope more skill on the sweet science thanks

  • paul its people like u who think they are strong but get the shit beat outta you

  • ill fuck u up anytime, anywhere...

  • ok then tell me where u live n we fight for money cuz i dont like beating pussies up for free.

  • Hey my mates and i have never boxed before. today we started boxing just in my basement. we're only going for upperbody shots cause we don't have headgear. Any tips on how to open up your opponent? it's hard to get any decent shots in when your target is being blocked completely.

  • punch to the face

  • u have to constantly move and move and hit every where on the upperpart of the body. remember u can play football, u can play tennis but u cant play boxing. hit hard invest in some headgear or make em ur self. but try n conuse the opponent. hit his arms hard as possible he might say quit or he might just leave himself defensless.

  • man i need to learn this shit im boxing this big ass mother fucker on tuesday

  • how can u not know this if u are fighting "big ass mother fucker on tuesday ". this is like boxings very own abc.

  • You have a lot of talk, i'll put my money on the sure thing , and that thing would be that you have a lot of talk and ego, and 9 out of 10, types like you lost before the fight!

  • eazycomptin shut the fuck u dont no how this kid fight why u saying u would win u dun even no him i hate pricks like u i wish i can beat your ass

  • your cousing IS A BITCH!

  • your an idiot

  • yes he is

  • haha scion is a bitch.

  • Its a start up video, the sliding is definatley necessary this early, otherwise you would get in the habit of putting your weight on your back foot and getting dropped every fight.

  • no, actually that isnt true im 21 yrs old and yea ima girl...i've boxed since i was 8 and still do..my grandfather di boxing back in the 40's till today and teaches kids...i learned from the best.

  • mmmmm whats his name i might no who he is

  • that sliding is kinda bullshit

  • hes legs have too much space between shrunk the space no balance to caugth a left hook

  • being properly sumbmissive

  • ill just beat the shit out of the opponent

  • i would love to see your beat the shit out of someone who knows how to box

  • you*

  • o i would!
