George was a true seeker and a visionary. I pray and hope he found what he was looking for. The same curse (cancer) that stole George away from us also took away the Darling of My Life -- My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife -- My Lady Barbra Rose. Life, Light, and Joy to all.
we didnt have a stereo but we had a turntable and a huge mono system my dad used for jazz and we would shake the entire block when we blew those babies up and listened to this beautiful music :).
Seek a higher purpose. Challenge yourself. Only we can save ourselves. You don't have to be wasted, or a rock star or a genius to understand this simple concept.
Last night was my first time taking a tab, my friend and I both sat in his room with the lights off and christmas tree lights everywhere, a colorful disco ball and listening to real music such as this, or Ultimate Spinach (my favorite) :) probably the best trip i've ever had.
@leafninja247... It's funny, but I feel exactly that same sentiment for many years. Some of the Beatles music IS like a drug. Lyrically, I always thought this was the best song on "Pepper." Very perceptive post on your part.
@mahavishnuxc Yeah, you're right. Some of their songs were probably about drugs, but not all of them. I'm mostly saying that that's not what they were all about. They weren't the kind of band who'd encourage you purposely to do drugs and stuff. But, I do know quite a bit about The Beatles.
@mahavishnuxc Got to get you into my life isn't about marijuana, it's about Paul wanting to try LSD. Also, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds isn't about LSD, it's about a drawing that John's son, Julian, drew about a girl in his class.
@vh1035 In a 2004 interview, Paul McCartney said that the song is about LSD, stating:
"A song like 'Got to Get You Into My Life,' that's directly about pot, although everyone missed it at the time." "Day Tripper," he says, "that's one about acid. 'Lucy in the Sky,' that's pretty obvious. There's others that make subtle hints about drugs, but, you know, it's easy to overestimate the influence of drugs on the Beatles' music."
@leafninja247 Use the following drugs: marijuana, mushrooms, and LSD. I was like you for my entire high school life and missed out on too much. After a month of smoking pot and using shrooms once, I've found my life and am now the happiest person on earth. Use in moderation, use to become productive and not lazy, but do use. I promise you'll gain an even better understanding of this music if you do. Trust me, I know you have no reason or pretext to, but I only speak from experience.
@leafninja247 The Beatles are my drug! they spend all this time in school saying don't do drugs, the Beatles should be included "Remember, children, The Beatles are bad for you." They make me think on such a deeper level.
@supohoesmorthnles HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE LAXMI BRIDGE to give crusts to big fishies! can i come with????? i wanna find the yellow fishy and feed it a well cooked salmon with crusts @_@ im kinda high right now...
When I heard this song , I realised I did not want to become one of "them" in illusion, working for a nasty corporation , selling my soul to the brain dead governmnent, addicted to their scams..I started to chant the Hare Krsna mantra as George did a lot and experienced a transformation in my consciousness. I was able to give up all drugs alcohol, tobacco , became a vegetarian , shaved my head and joined the Hare Krishna movement to become a monk and disciple of George's guru, Srila Prabhupada.
@Gauraonline you actually fell right into the Gov's trap, mind control through music. Look it up dude no offense or nothing, especially with The Beatles

@AncientBlitzkrieg Wow.... you obviously dont know anything about The Beatles.
1. "Got to get you into my life" - about Marijuana
2. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - LSD
3. Day Tripper - LSD
4. Tomorrow Never Knows - Inspired by one of many vivid LSD experiences of Lennon
5. Cold Turkey - John Lennon quitting heroin. (Not a Beatles song)
There's a lot more, but look it up. The Beatles smoked marijuana, took LSD, and partied. it's nothing new.
mahavishnuxc 2 months ago
@mahavishnuxc Got to get you into my life isn't about marijuana, it's about Paul wanting to try LSD. Also, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds isn't about LSD, it's about a drawing that John's son, Julian, drew about a girl in his class.

What is most impressive, George Harrison wrote this when he was around 24. Think about all the 20 year olds you know, and then think of this song.

@otterj6 So true. Harrison was, in many ways, a full-blown genius! Rest in peace...

@otterj6 Dude, I feel exactly the same way. I'm 28, and it's only now that I'm starting to realize this. These guy's were making the most influential music maybe of all time in they're early twenty's! Nobody, at least in my lifetime, will do anything like it.

@otterj6 Good point. I was a good lyricist by the age of 17, but not at writing music. To do both, is great.
