@cheapthrillsss I think lyrically speaking, you're right, DPT don't stack up well with the Libertines. But most of the best songs on the first Shambles album were Libertines songs that Pete decided to take full credit for. Shotter's Nation was way better to be sure. But Waterloo to Anywhere is a lot better than Down in Albion. It actually sounds like the Libertines.

I think libertines were great but babyshambles and DPT are great too. It's beacause both pete and carl are very talented. Libertines were best because pete and carl are just happy to be together and sing together and that made their music even nicer

Like you get so tied up in your day to day crap - work - rushing around etc, that you forget to stop, take a breath and look up and around you. Lol, people know them because Carl was in The Libs. I just think Pete Doherty is a cool, talented guy, and that he writes some good texts, better than Carls. And their songs are so charming and catchy
@samnninty Not true. Carl, Peter, and serious musicians have wide-ranging tastes and Carl is exploring. I love his new record; I don't want a rehash of the Lib's or DPT's unless the original bands are playing it. There is nothing wrong with making a decnt living when you work for years and years with no retirement plan or steady job to depend upon. Artists of all sorts sacrifice a lot for art and a few make good. Why is this a crime? Would you work for nothing?
@TurbaTaT musically yes the DPT songs are technically better music and harder to play but I reckon Shambles are better live because they have more onstage charisma and more interesting lyrics, to be honest it doesn't really matter as the libs are best over all but I'm quite interested to see what carl's solo album will be like and see if it can match Grace/Wastelands.

I LOVE, Dirty Pretty Things, bought both albums, still love them. But I think we can all admit that as good as the songs are, their music videos for almost ALL their singles were and are, shit :I
And as much as I do like the new album, I think the reason for it's failure and ultimately leading to split of the band, is how they've gone in a completely different direction than their first album.
First was all rough, gritty and fast paced! The new is... well it's still pretty patriotic at least.

I LOVE, Dirty Pretty Things, bought both albums, still love them. But I think we can all admit that as good as the songs are, their music videos for almost ALL their singles were and are, shit :I
And as much as I do like the new album, I think the reason for it's failure and ultimately leading to split of the band, is how they've gone in a completely different direction than their first album.
First was all rough, gritty and fast paced! The new is... well it's still pretty patriotic at least.

the weakest song on the 2nd album..did it even chart?id say dpt themselves regret ever releasing it.. they didnt even include it in the set list at the academy last week. i'm a huge dpt fan and gutted the're breaking up but even i couldnt force myself into liking this song

Uh...because it ISN'T noise? Sure, not all indie music is good but Carl Barat's singing isn't slurred & while I love classic rock & metal, I don't see why someone who listens to those genres can't like indie as well.
