im trying sooo hard to install ubuntu on my ibook g3 can you help me ....you should make a video how to install it ...i want to have only ubuntu on my g3 //// please help meeeee
@snake1250 Late reply, but I think that if you use a browser that supports HTML5, you can watch -SOME- YouTube videos on it (any video that show stupid ads, will not work because they're still viewed in Flash). Or you can try m(dot)youtube(dot)com , it's usually made for mobile phones, but any computer with media player supporting 3gp will work. That is also a good option for those who use slower Macs (since flash is a great way to make an older computer even slower). Good luck ;)
You know, if you want to watch youtube on a powerpc based mac, the greasemonkey addon for firefox and various scripts from userscripts will allow you to watch youtube videos in the browser using either the totem or the mplayer plugin
your wrong. You have a few options to get flash to work. By either Gnash or mplayer plug-ins for firefox, and yes you can watch youtube videos w out having to downloading them using either option.
There is also an official flash package by adobe. Not available through the apt repositories, but there is a binary installer available on adobe's website. Works waaaay better than Gnash.
It would be easier to just make an ISO of the CD. I have to believe they are still on the Internet, even if they're not actively being produced anymore.
Do you think you could get the files off the installation cd and send them to me so I can put them on my own cd to boot from..(you cant get the ppc versions anymore on cd's)
games... are you a kid? go and have a look on the ubuntuforums website... there are lots. of course not like win but its growing and free. some people work on pc's aswell... wierd eh?

Ironically enough, he can't watch youtube with that iBook with the Linux install. The flash support isn't there yet.

I have sold numerous iBooks on Craigslist with these specs and each one ran 10.4.11 just fine
I have plenty still laying around and will try this

If you're trying to resell an old ibook (which runs at most, say, Panther), the best thing you can do is install an open source operating system.

Ubuntu is never a nerd distro. Gentoo and Freebsd for nerds.

I run Ubuntu on my PC with an XP dual boot. but it's freezing like mad in openGL format..
good job on the install though. I might go and pick up an older ibook just to do the install.
