They were at their peak here, all went wrong here on with stupid costumes, Zoo TV shite and Sunglasses. This tour was all about 4 chords and a guitar, nothing more! Awesome!!
@adiedonoghue - I totally disagree, I LOVED the Zoo period, I got totally fed up with Bono's constant white Flag waving etc and the way he and the Edge used to prance around onstage (nothing wrong with prancing onstage but they way they did it was annoying, dunno why but it just was). Rattle and hum would have been better if it had not 98% been in Black & White, that really annoyed me. With the Zoo era they re-invented themselves while not leaving their roots, I loved it and became a Fan.

05:08 Bono looks JUST like to be born shortly Mr. MacPhisto! Pale like a corpse, dumb looking shirt, dumb red jacket, and dumbest of all wine red hat. Plus pierced ear. Was he aware what's happening to him? What He's mutating into?
@ray1bradbury - Whats wrong with saying it like that? Its just a sort of 'humourous' way of asking if they're arriving on time. It can't 'all' be serious.
Gay only had 3 questions for every guest, that was the secret of why he is better than anyone who suceeded him. He let the guest talk instead of trying to direct the focus on himself.
thats because he wants to let his guests talk. he's better than pat kenny, im glad hes leaving because after ten years its like every night is his first night doin it
@snolge - Weel Gay had to retire sometime, and how else could they continue the show?? Sure Pat Kenny did not have the Charisma Gay does. Kenny's good at politics but not at entertainment. I think Tubridy's great at it. If he's not your cup of tea then thats fair enough, but the show must go on.
It's so great to see these old interviews, and how the songs they wrote back then are still relevent even today. U2s music will never lose there meanings, for they will always be relevent for years to come. In 1988 they mean one thing, then in 2008 they still have a meaning even for now.
Within a year they said they had to go away and think it all up again. They needed a lot of outside influences to help them to think it all up again.

Bono had his ear pierced since 85' I believe, then he got the other pierced when they went to Berlin to "dream it up again"

And Gay can be kind of annoying here. Daft line: "They enter, do they?" No Gay, they're buggering off now after two seconds!! lol
"You're not so young and you're not so innocent now", aww, that's nice!

Bono; I blame it all on the jet lag..
Edge; I'd blame it on the Jack Daniels myself...
