I love this song too, but listening to the lyrics and reading your comments brought me to a rather sad conclusion - this song effectively embodies our memories of iran because our ancestral culture encourages wallowing in self-pity and manipulating people by playing on their emotions. perhaps that's why this song, rozeh (ashoora, tasoo'a), and shaahnaameh are so appealing to the iranian psyche.

@cerendepity passion and character does not confine to being perfect. if you are right then thats what makes us iranian. to loose those things would be to loose our identity. if paris keeps its cobbled roads that damage soo many cars as a form of national unity and history then we must realise that loosing anything is loosing our unity that has saved us in times of war and need.
