just an incredibly good song. gets me every time. yes of course it reminds one of joy division but there's nothing wrong with being influenced. ian curtis died in may of 1980.
are they realy underated? i dont think so maybe a few years ago (the back door) but when that album came out it was a mercury award winning album sold 2mil copies and it was a success and the end has a start album thats even bigger
A few people discussed this in the comments a long time ago. The best argument in my opinion, was that the disease is a kind of metaphor for something that's giving you a hard time in life for the moment. The message is to not let it bring you down and keep on going.
Rage is the disease that we dont need. Its something that life turns you towards,a bitterness that life teaches us through bad experiences."You dont need this disease, not right now".Dont waste your youth full of anger and bitterness, enjoy your innocence while it lasts.Thats my opinion anyway.
A perfect reply. I was thinking the same thing. A very over looked band. That song when first heard it ,on the radio.Just reached out and grabbed me.Bought the album the next day
big johnny, Rick astley mate are you fuckin takin the piss? Quite clearly you are, if he sounds like rick astley, then i'm liam and noel gallagher in one
can someone explain me the so called resemblance between u2 and editors?? as far as i know, u2 sucks in general, and editors kicks f'n ass. i don't get it.
? Are u kiding? Tom Smith rocks! I doubt even Ian could beat him, if u dont believe m hear the last track from their second album, An End Has A Start...
Someone said that this seams like U2. It's a really mistake because it better than U2. Of course the Editors have some inspiration on 80's UK Pop but it is more than that. Editors is a 'gift' a really strong band.
great, great. saw them in naples...thanks for 'you are fading' and 'fingers in the factories',guys...but 'the weight of the world'? ahhhh...you're great,anyway...thanks a lot
Sorry,I didn't understand,I'm italian,my english isn't so good, you said that Weight of the World is their best song after Fingers in the Factories or what? However my fav Editors songs are Bullets,The Weigth of the World,Escape the Nest,Fingers in the Factories,Blood,Munich,Find Yourself a Safe Place,Bones,Fall,Spiders,Someone Says,Come Share the View(too much? What can I say,I love Editors!)and their great versions of Orange Crush by REM,Lullaby by The Cure and Road to Nowhere by Talking Heads.
i think this song is about a turning point in life when you decide to get a handle on your life. the disease is metaphoric for something in your life you want to get rid of, something what teases you somehow. with this energy it shows the will to live.
awesome very vety catchy song...... I like this band awesome post punk new wave sound. The influences of this band show , this guy has listened a lot the mission joy division and many new wave post punk bands...
I like the ending in this version, I guarantee it would look awesome on stage! I had the pleasure of seeing the Editors live a few months back, and as someone else commented on here, it does indeed make your balls tingle...
Exactly my thoughts, the bridge is brilliant here, the album evrsion should have been like this.. one of their better songs, love the energy in this song
Seen The Editors last year backing Franz Ferdinand. Saw the hives a few weeks back. Best gig I have ever been to. Totally fantastic band. The Editors are good, but this is their only great song in my opinion.
this single version is immense, listening to it is like having the air knocked out of you..crashing into a wall at 50mph. such a powerful song
so why did they feel the need to dilute it on the back room..completely ruined. i love the album, and for me it is perfection except for bullets. while its still a masterpiece in my eyes..if they'd have had this version of bullets on there it would have been flawless. shame
this song is brilliant

Rage is just the TV Channel or similar that the video has been captured from, you can see that in a lot of TV-ripped music videos :)

rage is an all-night Australian music video program, broadcast since 1987. No presenters, no ads, no talking, just artist and song title.

I think they have had a strong influence form U2. Listen to the guitar in their first albums like Boy and War, you'll notice they sound very similar.
Btw, these guys are awesome live!
irishlove84 3 years ago
It's not a U2 influence as such, more a post-punk influence. U2's first 2 albums were firmly rooted in post-punk hence the similarities.
nuhouse 3 years ago
I don't agree. The U2 influence is clear.
But I recognize it's not sheer imitation, they have developed their own style. Good lads. They rock!
