  • i dont like this guy

  • Update. I hated Vista with a massive passion. I still do. Windows 7 on the other hand, I do use, and it's not even good, but it's better than anything else out there. If you can settle for Ubuntu Linux, please do so, because Windows 7 enjoys crashing if you run LOTS of software. To the point... Windows 7 Ultimate doesn't really come with many "toys", especially the background videos. It's got nothin'. SO... I use StarDock's DeskScapes and love it! FINALLY, good video on my desktop!

  • @zume or you can google for this How to Install and Enable DreamScene in Windows 7 . They exxplaine on mydigitallife how to install or remove dream scene.

  • Chris lunchin!!!! i would have expected him to have a top of the line CPU and enjoy the fact that Windows made the Dreamscene feature apart of Windows Vista *Ultimate* for a reason. I'm a prime example it's all on how you tweak your hardware.

  • MANNNN I have a Dell Inspiron 640m with 2gb of RAM and Dreamscene runs fluid and un-lagging. I also have the Rocketdock running with over 50 icons! All smooth sailing over here. For me to have a dinosaur!

  • I use Dreamscene on 4 different computers with VISTA, my quad-core has 8 GB of RAM, and the other laptops have 4GB. I don't even notice the slightest lag in performance with dreamscene running.

    It takes hardly ANY resources.

Plus, you can install Stardock Deskscapes and run the DREAM format if you want to consume less resources.

But personally, I don't notice ANY difference at all and I edit videos and sound on my computer, which are very CPU intensive.

  • Dude,

I used to think that you were smart, but geez, get off of it dude. You can't even seem to get your own computer working and you keep blaming Microsoft and Nvidia.

Why don't you write your OWN drivers if you know so much!!!

Dreamscene was the coolest feature of VISTA. And you CAN use it on Home Premium.

  • I actually highly enjoy using dreamscene.... I am currently using the snowtiger background and it looks really good. I have not experienced any decrease in performance since using it.

  • I can run vista dreamscenes without any performance issues. I never use them though since I havnt actually found one that I enjoy staring at.

What we need are upgrades to desktop productivity(perhaps built in virtual desktops) or enhanced dual/tri/quad monitor support allowing full screen applications to run while at the same time allowing support to manipulate other desktops without the full screen application minimizing.

  • there hack and crack some made let you have Dreamscene on your window home premium

  • I have ultimate and looked at the dreamscene feature, I just don't like it. Even if it didn't hog up system resources I still would prefer a standard wallpaper. However I have been very happy with vista thus far, used it for around 6 months on a mid-high end computer.

  • Got a toshiba laptop, under $500, google chrome, anti viruses, and myspace IM and had it active ran fine.

  • dreamscene is awesome. u just need a good frikin computer. my computer runs fine with it

  • Chris, with the spec of your system I doubt that you will be that bothered about the amount of extra resources DreamScene will use. I think it is great but then I am talking 2 years after this video was made. Maybe you could give an updated opinion of Ultimate extras?

  • I dont see how Dreamscene is that bad. I like it. I dont see what people dont like about it because when your using the machine, you can pause the video if you want by right clicking the desktop and also Windows pauses the video automatically when a program is maximised. If you need 'more' resources for an active program or something just maximise the program window -_-

  • I got DreamScene on home premium and its awesome with HD WMA videos

  • on my imac (thru boot camp) i use vista ultimate x64 and i keep on dreamscene all the time. its not distracting at all to me, just keeps my desktop feeling alive, and not too mention i haven't noticed any slow downs or performance issues with it.

  • I use dreamscene as a screensaver, by unpausing it when I am not using the computer. But you have to turn of your original screensaver. On your desktop just right-click to pause or unpause dreamscene.

  • I had though of throwing the machine out of my roon window. All the security questions drove me so mad.

I wish they had never made this operating system.

  • If you have a virus protector on your computer already, just click on Control Panel, click on User Accounts and Family Safty, click on User Accounts, the click on Turn User Account Control on or off. Uncheck User Account Control, click 'OK' then restart your computer. You will never have to worry about the security issue ever again.

  • you're a moron, you can turn that shit off and since you don't know how to turn it off it's best that it's on so you don't install shit that makes your computer a zombie that floods the network.

  • There is Dreamscene in Premium. You have to put it yourself.

  • yea i have it and it works like a charm

  • i had something like that on my mac but after 2 minutes of using i had to turn it off, it was to annoying and useless. if i want to watch a video i pop a dvd in. The water fall one in vista is cool to where it would show just the water flowing, i could get away with that but to have the whole screen moving in the background is just a big head ache and useless too. all so pointless because most windows users run the Programs full screen, in turn you'll rarely see it anyway.

  • you are such a fag

  • i like it but it works for 5 sec dose anyone know how to fix it after 5 sec it becomes as a picture wtf anyone know how to salve that issue??

  • I just got a Vista Ultimate 64

    hot to set the DreamScene

are there are more offical sites to get some too ?

    Please help

  • Windows DreamScene is cool and looks great, yes it may take up some of your cpu, but when you maximize a window the dreamscene video stops playing therefore you get back the performance that you need & you can get dreamscene in home premium by downloading some files...

  • Chris Pirillo at it again. How much money did Steve Jobs give you to not talk about the sloppy gay sex in his bedroom?

  • I have no problem with it since i dont use it. aha! I mean i tried it a few times but it's not worth my time. Plus, i think it slows my system down.

  • Yow Dada!!

    ahaha

  • meh sukx, i use home premium :S

  • I use Dreamscene to show off. Its not much of a resource hog. I can run Photoshop CS3 + 3ds Max 2009 + Revit architecture very smoothly at the same time while running dreamscene

  • how? can you give me your specs? thanks

  • remember a period after xp just came out, people were using 98 and whined about xp. same thing, the thing is OSs always get better and so does vista, i just switched from xp to vista x64 and well it is exceeding my expectations (for the fact of the negative reviews all over the internet) i was quite hesitating to switch at first, since i use 3d softwares like maya zbrush etc that are rather prone to sensitive incompatibility issues. but vista runs smoothly and no problems at all so far...

  • Vista is better than XP...provided you have the specs to run it. I have an AMD 3000+ @ 2.4, 2GB ram, Zotac 8800GT and 500GB HD. It cant get any smoother. I turned the annoying UAC off. The pluses - DX10, Aero and Dreamscene is beautiful, security. Cons - sucked when i had 1GB of ram

  • @adam7425 yull like it wen u FILLOLY get an acer, n get windows "dream edition" wen they finolly publish it ima make picturs n music video of it...

  • what an idiot

  • whiinning i meant. And about the drivers: most of drivers from XP works on vista also :]

  • You keep winning about Vista. Your problem is that you probably don't know how to configure it properly or you are to lazy to do that. Vista is quite nice system nowadays. It works perfectly with Aero interface on my hp dv6530ew. Configuring Vista properly makes it better system than XP.

  • i looooooooooooove windows vista

  • FYI: DreamScene does not use the CPU it uses the video card's CPU.

  • aka GPU

  • ive got vista ultimate.. and i love dreamscene :D

  • On a crappy machine , anything can suck. Who said it was made for 2 screen res anyways?

And welcome to the future, numnuts!

  • chris is a vista hater.

  • Your a fag.

    Vista ftw.

  • I have windows dream scene and so far I like it, except for the fact that I can't find any cool ones. The ones that I have so far are of nature and stuff, I want one that would really catch my attention. If you guys know any website that I can find some cool dream scene wallpaper PLZZZ!!!! message me.

    -Thanks

  • Idiot

  • vista dreamscene is awsome. i got vista ultimate 64 bit os. if u have trouble with dreamscene it is because ur computer is not optimized for it. well for me im using amd phenom 9850 2.5ghz @ 3.0ghz using 10% of cpu and four 3870 single slot quad crossfire x using 9-20% of the gpu. btw it suppose to be only for vista ultimate but stardock, wincustomize dreamscene has a patch that u can use to use for vista home, basic and even windows xp. anyways have fun.

  • it does not even suport .avi! D:

    sucks ^^

  • This guys a big pile of suck.

  • Windows DreamScene has no effect on my computers performance, and I always use it. I love using something unique that nobody else uses.

  • What're you talking about? People have been using vlc to use videos as wallpaper for ages already. Only thing unique with .dreams is that it's locket to the Ultimate version.

  • what a d-bag...it's out in full glory, it doesn't take up ram (it pauses).

  • my computer can handle it, yes nvidia sucks with drivers thats why i use im using 64 bit and have 4 gigs of ram and radeo 1950 pro 256MB . dreamscene dosent seem to slow anything down

  • No u r not accurate. Has been great uses no ram/cpu no errors then again i'm using home premium. ps get laid.

  • @KevKo95

    Reason?

  • i don get it... why the fuck would u call vista a joke... dis guy such a noob wit his dual monitor setup dat cant even hav a background....(upgrade ur hardware, do u know wat hardware is?) if its a joke why are millions if not billions (?) of users alredy using it and think its way better than the previous os' by microsoft? stupid idiot...

  • No background is a symbol of power using

  • born2bgr8 -- given he's knocking nVidia and having a big ATi logo on his commercial banner there, one has to wonder... given my hears of experience (and I'm probably twice his age), I can tell you right now ATi is the joke. I mean, he's using ATi on his test system. Whoops, sorry! Good point, what is he running Vista on? Probably an AMD K6?!

BTW: Anyone else find it disturbing he likes to use the word "suck" frequently?

  • waste of ram!

i have 2 gb ram and it was using up half of that and was making my vista dead slow.

  • DreamScene is just an eye candy.

Even if some strange force ever makes me to use M$ products again, i would probably never use doubleclick option on DS icon....thats unneccesary shit and its not worth of time spended using it.

  • lol^^

  • The only one that sucks here is you

  • Press D while running BSplayer and you will have the "Vista Dream Scene". Runs like a regular movie on the desktop.

  • I have a AMD 64x2 4200+ 3 gig mem and a GeForce 8600 GT DX10 / 512Mb, but is wont run to!? Can some one help me!?

  • If you want a video for a background just use VLC player... Im not a fan of dreamscene mainly because I dont have A.D.D. and just so I dont get called a windows hater, I'm using vista...

  • about dreamscene is your own conclusion! don't be an asshole and turn other people off..

  • Im running Vista Ult. and Dreamscene, and i still really have no problems with either. Dreamscene mostly uses your Video Card. And everyone who bitches about it being a resource hog should throw away the Intel 2 PC that they still have from 1995.

And CoolHandDude is right. He;s just a fag bitch who just likes to hate on shit he has problems with and cant fix em.

  • i disagree with you on this one chris.... dreamscene is beautiful on my standard 1280x1024 resolution

  • your wrong dude, the dreamscene is a great idea!!

  • I use dreamscene on Home Premium due to a couple of hackers cracking it (inevitable) and I really like it; I'm one for changing my desktop at least weekly so to see them moving is a great thing, it's the future of desktop backgrounds in my opinion. Going back to a static image now will feel like I've degraded.

As far as resource hog goes, I don't notice any difference in performance at all and I'm only on a core2duo 1.9Ghz, 2GB 800Mhz RAM and an Nvidia 7900GS.

  • dude.

I don't like Vista any more than the next guy, but you definitely SUCK, dude, like .. suck!

  • DreamScene sucks...

    I don't even use it

  • i've heard of it, but I don't see the need for it. Why would you need a video distracting you when you're trying to work on something? pointless.

  • my background is just a blue screen....somtimes when my friends come over....i change it though

  • I like the holdem poker... i played it once.... yeah...

  • I like Vista Ultimate, but not for the extras.

  • hey how do i ask u a qestion cuz i am suscribed

  • I love LINUX. It's really for human beings. Not for money.

  • I like windows XP way better than Vista...

  • Works fine on my 50" plasma dose get boring only uses 2% on my P4 3.6ghz. Get the dreamscene pack it has 4 new vidz. Useless but its a nice tech demo.

  • audio delay

  • Nice video!!!

  • Its ok for awhile but gets boring quick

  • You can actually get NEW DreamScenes from Stardock's website.

  • i like it its fun but it get boring after 2 days

  • well if DreamScene uses most of the system resources then theres no point in using it. And it is definitely is not useful.

  • Microsofts new policy, Pay More, Get Less!

  • ROFL....THIS IS why i got home premium... :)

  • I have Ultimate, and Microshaft does need to get their act together with Ultimate Extras. DreamScene just slams one of my cores, and hogs my RAM. It looks cool, but definitely is not useful.

  • I would recommend trying the dynamic dreams using Stardock DeskScapes.

  • haha...Thanks. I hate win vista. My sound card driver is messed up and I can't find a driver for my D camera so gotta install a fire wall....

  • I think you can set video wallpapers using VLC media player

  • Those people in the chat that say OS X sucks have no clue what they're talking about.

  • you can say that because you noe exactly everthing that they think?

  • No, I can say that because I've used Windows for 12 years, used many different Linux distros, and used several versions of the Mac OS. And, frankly speaking, OS X has the most features and is by far the easiest to use (Ubuntu Linux is pretty freaking easy as well though).

  • Yes maybe in your experience, so evidently you can't say other people don't know anything with out knowing there knowledge what soever. and how they would justify what they are claiming.

  • Well, no I can't say anything for others. But what I've love for them to tell me is what they can do on any other OS that they can't in Mac OS X. Also, I'd love for the to tell me where they think Mac OS X is flawed. Most of the people who do reply to these questions typically use out-dated info (AKA they've never used Mac OS X or haven't in many years).

  • I've never used a Mac with OS X, and I am dying to use one. Macs seem some damn awesome.

Right now I am running Ubuntu.

  • Ubuntu is a lot like Mac OS X. It doesn't look as nice, and doesn't manage its applications as well, but in terms of ease-of-use Ubuntu is probably only topped by Mac OS X.

  • Yeah. True. Actually, Ubuntu was my first experience with Linux. Haven't tried any other distros (haven't bothered buying any discs in a while). Though I was recently given a older machine with a older version of redhat.

  • i want vista ultimate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Vista sucks. Get something with real effects. Ubuntu with Compiz fusion.
