I'm quite an accomplished guitarist, having learnt from your 1970's "ragtime blues guitarsts " book, which came with a cassette (remember those ? ),and I wondered if it was still in print.

This guy is a good guitarist, but, his left handed technique is poor. You can say it doesn't hurt him but placing the thumb up the top the way he does should not be done except possibly when playing some chords. There are some fingerings that would be very difficult unless the thumb is firmly anchored behind the neck. I say this because bad habits are hard to unlearn.
@pinoyblues69 And 99.9% of Blues guitarists are self taught and is one reason why they develop bad habits. Of course if you stick with only blues it probably won't matter but if you want to branch out into other forms, Jazz for example, such technique could be a handicap. I only mentioned it 2 years ago to warn neophytes that they shouldn't mimic his technique even tho he is a great guitarist. It is hard to unlearn bad habits. It was never meant as a slam against Grossman.
@tbcass i'm into classical guitar before being attracted to the blues. i now it's a no no in classical guitar. you should have mentioned in your comment that you are only warning neophytes... otherwise, it would be taken as a slam against grossman, as it is.
@pinoyblues69 I'm a bass player myself and self taught. I learned from watching other bass players. Early on I noticed the best ones anchored their thumb behind the neck like Classical and Jazz guitarists do so I forced myself to play that way even though I found it awkward. It's the only way on bass to get the reach in a single position to play runs and walking bass lines smoothly otherwise you have to move your hand too much. (Unless you have huge hands)
Great music n playin, Nice share n All thanks , carin a share this sweet.....Merry Christmas and all cheers always,to you and all your loved ones......
