  • Who is the blonde at 5:22? What gospel group does she sing with?

  • @garrygmc her name is lisa daggs and i believe she's a solo artist

  • Really good baritones are few and far between and Phil is one of those rare people who adds so much in so many ways. Love his parts filling voice.

  • I can't help crying every time I hear that story. Two of my favorite groups with some of the best harmony ever. Gonna be a great reunion one day and I can't wait!

  • My wife always loved this song!!!!

  • i love the statler brothers, brings back memories of my childhood

  • I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THE STATLER BROTHERS AND THEY ARE FROM MY HOIME TOWN

  • Gospel music is special and these guys are specially special.

  • You can't hear Phil in a lot of their music but his voice stands out on this one. I think this song is on itunes

  • The best vocal gymnastics i ever heard, none can equel the stats.

  • i love the first song on this video

  • Simply put, THE BEST EVER!!

  • 17 Dislikes ....seriously!

  • omg i remember watching them when i was lil and i loved to jam out to lol :)

  • Phil is THE MAN!

  • All I have to say is God Bless them...

  • And the sound that comes out of Phil's mouth.. OMG!!! LOVE IT!!!

  • I love and Miss George!! what an awesome man and Godly man. Love the statlers too!!

  • Grew up listening to the Statler Brothers (and the Oaks, for that matter). No one. NO ONE comes close to the Statler Brothers. Talented gentlemen, all.

  • Just can't understand how anyone can click ( don't like ) to these song

  • @Bbatsonjohn they just dont have taste

  • LOVE this song, The other side of the cross! They did a superb job. TY for sharing

  • no othe group compares.. not one..

  • I just love the Statler Brothers.

  • Phil's voice is the glue that brings all of the other voices together for the Statler sound

  • Phil is a good singer. He should've had the lead vocals on some of their songs.

  • The hairy guy is William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys

  • who's the guy at 9:10???

  • @princereggie1980 The guy at 9:10 is Duane Allen. He's the lead singer for the Oak Ridge Boys.

  • His name is William "Bill" Lee Golden. He was with the Oak Ridge Boys for years then left for a few years. After Steve left the group he rejoined the Oaks. Bill sings lead on Thank God for Kids as well as others.

  • William Golden has the hair.

  • One of my very favorite songs EVER!!!!!!!! The Statler Brothers rock, The Cathedrals rock and I love video!!!

  • happy goodman family

  • while traveling through Virginia recently, I stopped at a church near the interstate for Sunday services. To my surprise, I was greeted at the door by Phil Balsley, then watched Harold and Don Reid come in an sit down. It happened to be their home church.

  • That would be William Lee Golden, Oak Ridge Boys' baritone.

  • Harold Reed is the bass

  • Does anybody know the name of the older guy on the Statler Brothers Show that played te piano on the Gospel song at the end of every show?? I can't remember his name for the life of me and it's driving me nuts.

  • @LisaDepp Yes. His name is Bill Walker and the "Bill Walker" Orchestra. They would perform at the Music City News award show, years ago for country stars. If you watch closely at some of the Statler performances here on YouTube he is the conductor. One song in particular, you can spot him. "Count on Me"

  • He tells you. Willam Lee Golden

  • Seeing this video reminds me of how much I miss Glen, George, and Roger

  • 'AMEN TO THAT' FEEL THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!

  • quien me puede dar la version en español de el segundo himno de este video , lo agradeceria de antemano

  • quien me puede dar la version en español de el segundo himno de este video , lo agradeceria de antemano

  • One of their best performances ever...

  • great

  • I've been fortunate, no pun intended, to be around Jimmy Fortune and as great a singer he is, he is equally as great a person. Is there another better tenor singer than him, no way.

  • I found something sticky in William Lee Goldens beard .... hahahaha

  • One of their best performances, ever!!!

  • 2 bearded fella on this vid. i believe they are both with the oakridge boys. the long beard in the begining is william lee golden and the 2nd chap at the end is dwayne allen. if i'm wrong i apologize

  • Harold reminds me a bit of the Big Chief, esp. on this song. He sits each note with perfect pitch and diction.

  • The Statlers are in a league of their own...

  • @elfgirl3 I hear that

  • @elfgirl3 Yes they are. There will never be another group like them.

  • i was lucky enough to see the Statlers in concert 5 times.. no other group compares

  • I do not think enough is said about Phil and what he brings to the group and even this song. I think he is the glue in the middle.

  • @ww7612SEJ You are so right. Phil gave them their Statler flavor. But they were all great. I liked every one of them. They had an amazing career. Wish there were singers today that showed the respect and class that they did.

  • I think you are right. Phil doesn't have the strongest vocie, but he is definetly the glue. Plus Harold Reid commented in their book that Phil was perhaps the best singer, in the sense that he could find any note and knew exactly where a singer should be on a certain part .... he is Mr harmony, do doubt

  • @imdmpimdmp The Statler Brothers are the Gold Standard by which all country music should be measured.

  • @ww7612SEJ I agree , Phil has a great voice and was a vital part of the Statler Brothers , a great combination of vocal excellence .

  • @ww7612SEJ If Phil is glue, maybe he should change his name to Fill.

  • Any one know who that bearded dude is?

  • @laughing4younce That bearded dude is William Lee Golden, of the Oak Ridge Boys

  • If you are referring to the guy at 4:19 of this video, he is William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys!

  • William Lee Golden From the Oak Ridge Boys

  • @laughing4younce He's one of the singers for the oak ridge boys, he's a baritone for the group.

  • I just love George Younce! RIP my man! lol... I just love this! Thankyou again!

  • there are music stores that sell the sheet music.if you still cant find them i will be more than happy to send them to you,tc ad chat soon

  • They were amazed by the high voice lol. I love the harmony

  • Jimmy is wonderful, but I still love the late great Lew DeWitt the mostest. Someone once told me he was the original brains behind the group. They were so lucky to find Jimmy to replace him after his death.

  • One of my biggest regrets in life is that I never got to hear the Statler Brothers in person. I have loved them since I was a child.

  • I have played this a million times I think... sure miss these guys they are the BEST

  • the best singers ever. sorry to see them retire. oldpapa49

  • awesome

  • We have the Old and New Testament albums. What a masterpiece. No one sings Noah Found Grace In The Eyes of the Lord, better than the Statker Bros.

  • No one can sing this song like the Statlers. What great voices and talent. We have the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT albums. What a piece of work, nothing has ever been written like this album. It took them 8 yrs to write this masterpiece.

  • wow jimmy is absolutely incredible

  • You got the best and you got the rest and the Statler Brothers sure are the BEST!

  • we have been blessed by all these fine entertainers. The statler brothers are one of a kind. Their talent is only overshadowed by their charming personalities. It proves you can be entertaining without cussing and being dirty mouth on stage. Godbless and thankyou for the memories. And a special God bless to George Younce. they dont come any better then george. He is no doubt entertaining the angels as we speak.

  • Interesting point. Reading the comments on this video, seems that the class of the people that listen to these guys is just as high as the class of the men themselves. Our society continues to attack Christianity yet ignores the fact that the kindest most giving people in this great land come from the ranks of those known as Christians. Thanks for the memories Statler's. CLASS ACTS and proof that good people still exist in today's lost world. Thanks for once again proving Christians have class.

  • @texashusker34 Amen!!

  • @texashusker34 You just don't mess with Texas or Christians

  • @texashusker34 Amen, Sir. But christians really aren't meant to be heralded or lauded are they? We do what Jesus commanded us to do - take care of the widow, the poor, the afflicted, the lame, the blind, the homeless. We might be chastised, ridiculed, even executed, but we knew that would happen to us. We choose to follow Christ, against all odds, all nations, all governments, all principalities, no matter the peril - and give all we can in time, talents, and wealth to lift up every one.

  • Thank you Harold, Phil, Don and Jimmy for the wonderful years of great entertainment. Also lets not for Lew DeWitt, may he rest in peace.

  • R.I.P George.. in the hands of the lord now

  • they are by far my favorite group of all time. it is a shame they retired. thank you statlers for a life full of memories.

  • I also grew up listening to the Statlers. They are the best harmonizers ever to sing. I encourage anyone to listen to all of their songs and realize the best entertainers were the Statlers. They actually taught me how to sing by listening to their music constantly.

  • 3:22..what a note to hold! thank god for the statlers!

  • What a fantastic video!! According to Google, the song "The Other Side Of The Cross" was written by Harold Reid's daughter, Kim Reid Weller. Just another example of how talented and blessed this entire family is (check out the group Grandstaff....Harold and Don's sons...)

God has blessed them immensely, and through them....us.

  • i love george. its so sad that he died

  • I'll tell ya, this just show how great people these guys are, God Bless

  • It doesn't get any better than this, boys and girls. These also are four of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

  • I grew up with the Statler Brothers and there will never be anyone like them. I listen to all genres of music including rap, r&b, country, rock and these guys are still my favorite.

  • the greatest va. group thx for the years

  • I have loved 4 part harmony all of my life ...

Gospel ... Statlers, Cathedrals, GVB, Gold City ...

Country ... Statlers, Oak Ridge Boys ...

    Pop/Rock ... Rockapella, Nylons ...

A cappella ... too many to list ...

... but my "First Love" ... on 4 part harmony.

... is the Statler Brothers ...

I hope this video shows why ... :)

  • *Tears* What a story and what a song! I love the Statler Bro's and the Cathedrals!

  • Good to know....thanks for the correction all!

  • Don Reid wrote the other side of the cross..we were at the taping of their tv show when they sang it the first time!! great group of guys !!!

  • Beautiful music from a great group!

  • If I am not mistaken, Jimmy wrote,"On The Other Side Of The Cross." What a beautiful and inspirational song full of hope and promise. It is my favorite Statler gospel song. God bless George Younce, the greatest bass singer that ever was and Harold #2...just my opinion.

  • Don wrote "On the Other Side". They both are tremendously gifted and talented songwriters.

  • jimmy wrote "Elizabeth" and My Only Love.

  • some of the greatest ministry has been done by the Statlers. Those voices and hearts are God-Given and these two songs are proof of this. The Ten commandments absolutely show our Father's nature and "The Other Side of the Cross" shows His Son's. We are blessed to have heard those voices sing such reassurances of our faith

  • Very profoundly and truthfully stated!

  • Thanks so much for posting these beautiful songs. I loved the STATLER BROS. I have a lot of their music, records, cassettes and even some 8-track tapes. I don't know if I had ever heard this one The Other Side Of The Cross.

    May God Bless U.

    Darlene from MO.

  • Hello Deskyles,

"The Other Side Of The Cross" is from their 2001 CD called ... "Showtime" ... I think it it the 11th out of 12 songs (I can't find my CD at this time to make sure [and please do not ask me how many I have].)

The first song "Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord" has appeared in various speeds, through several decades. ... and while I fully enjoy "Noah" ... in any variation by the Statlers ...

"The Other Side Of The Cross" is the one that

    gives me goosebumps.
