Well the 40's a good measure of a players acceleration it's really just testing how fast they can accelerate it isn't really the distance that matters just the 40's been made kind of the standard because it usually takes around 30-35 yards to reach full speed if you do it right.

If you knew anything about the 40 or running for that matter you'd know slaton doesn't even run clost to a 4.20 40. And a 4.20 would put him among the fastest people that have ever played the game.
