  • It's got a personality, I'll give it that. Plus, finding a car with 35+ MPG and AUX-input is still a rarity these days if you're cheap.

  • I have a 2009 Yaris sedan w/4 speed auto. trans. Odometer just rolled over 50K miles. It's rated at 29/34, City/Hwy mpg. Lowest mileage I've ever gotten is 34mpg (mix of 80% city/20% hwy driving in ATL traffic!) The car easily achieves 42 to 46mpg on the highway (using A/C), far exceeding the EPA ratings. Very inexpensive car to maintain and own, and incredibly reliable. Great little car!

  • nice car.

    I have the 2001 ECHO

i removed the back headrests. They obstruct visibility.

  • I have a Vitz 1.0 Litre (Japanese import Yaris), not the 1.5 Ltr that you Americans get, and it's terrible. It's my first car and all that crap, but I hate it. I'll never buy a toyota when I get a car of my own. built cheaply, handles like a dog, and for fuck's sake don't get the automatic. it guzzles gas and hangs on gears. The car wasn't my choice. but I'm stuck with it.

  • Yaris is awesome!! Haha! I love the part where you go, "It's kinda a neat little car...kinda sporty looking...a little ugly...but it's not that bad."

  • from 5:29 it's like a slow-mo transformers :P

  • I have one of these. I hope that North America gets the diesel engine version that sells in Europe some day.

The 1.5L sold in the US gets really good gas mileage; the diesel would get even better fuel economy.

  • thank you for the tour, really genuine

  • Nice car good review better than some of the Pro reviews. we dont get this Basic version in the UK, i notice it doesnt have electric windows which i think is a plus as electric windows on previous Yaris tend to develop faults.

  • It would be interesting if you actually did MPG tracking using the gas pump method. I'd have to get a lot more than 40MPG to justify buying a small car like this. I have a midsize Chrysler Sebring that I regularly get 35MPG on the open freeway, and being bigger it's safer. The Hemi-powered Charger I just bought gets ~27 MPG on the freeway - if I can keep my foot out of it. That's only one more gallon than a Yaris, for a 120 mile commute (I have that too), and a substantially safer car.

  • i love these yaris. i got my 08 brand new and ima drive it till the wheels fall off and when that happens ima go buy another brand new yaris. amazingly enough this was the only toyota that did not have a recall i think that is cuz it was 100% japanes made lol.

  • my 07 has 356,xxx miles on it

  • I picked up an "absolutely red" with black interior with power package and automatic. I love it so far! It exceeds the gas mileage my civic was getting. I'm at 220 miles and am at 3/4 tank. Cool little car.

  • How is the power up hills and on the highway? I had a '93 honda civic dx 1.5 and the thing couldn't get out of it's way on hills. I am considering a Yaris. Feedback would be helpful, thanks!!

  • @J1Z06 the power on these are amazing. they have veriable valve timing like civics so when you shift the valve stay open for better acceleration. when the clutch on mine was brand new one time i hot roded it it spun the tires threw first and second and chirped them into third gear. for what they are they are very peppy. i have an 08 with 72,000 on it comute 64 miles round trip 6 times a week. i would highly recomomend these cars.

  • Who's Taylor????????????????????

  • Great economic car! I have it =)

  • Great review, enjoy the car!

  • ...and it has a stick shift...nice.

  • cheap, economical, good on gas, reliable, hell i'd drive that! ive seen the 07 models go over 410,000 miles, without any serious or major repairs!

  • Looks to be, for outside appearances, the hyundai accent kills it. But the yaris slaughters the modern accents interior. Sure the hyundai accent looks good inside, but the yaris actually feels decent.

  • I've seen a few of the sedans like a powder blue and the interior is nasty like some cheap plastic shower for an old lady. This one looks okay. I'd prefer a charcoal color myself, but silver's okay. One recent video claims around 50 mpg hywy, which is much highwer than the sticker and facts say. Isn't that the same motor they have in the Corolla anyway? Does the gas pedal stick?

  • @Haleon1018 Ha! Well, I can tell you that cheap plastic showers aren't only for elderly women. I've got a cheap, powder yellow shower, and I'm only twenty-eight! Yeah, the silver's not for everyone but since my wife drives it 120 miles every day, we figured it would hide dirt the best. 50 mpg/hwy is way optimistic. I'd say around 36, but maybe 40 mpg without air conditioning. The motor was from the Echo and my gas pedal has never stuck. I have a manual so if it did, I'd just pop it in neutral.

  • @frankenstien006 i think its hot when a girl drives sick shift !!!!!

  • this is the best car ever

Thank you for putting this clip on it was very helpful

    Thanks

  • Thank you!

  • On 2nd thought, I'm seriously gonna consider a RAV4 as my next vehicle and my 1st Toyota (in a few years, hopefully the recall controversy will be over with then.) Also, the next generation will be out in a few months (4th generation) and hopefully it'll look cool. Plus it'll be a blast to drive in the snow [as long as I put good tires on it and get it 'winterized' before the bad weather happens so it'll be in good shape to take on the snow]. CAN'T WAIT!!

  • Ha, ha. Well, good luck with whatever you choose to purchase.

  • I'm just about to pull the trigger on an '010 4 door hatch 5 speed with the power package. Nice little car. Much better priced than the Fit I looked at.

  • Good luck with your purchase!

  • for the price and gas mileage it seems like a good little car. How do you like the manual transmission? Hows that handling? Thanks for posting!

  • I have to admit, the manual transmission can be a little tricky. I'm not too sure if it's because it's a new car, but first gear can be tough and I've been driving standards for half my life. (Theirs no play at all in the clutch and I sometimes find myself giving it more gas than necessary.) The car handles really well, though. The blind spots are minimal and it turns on a dime! I think it has the tightest turning radius of any car I've owned.

  • cool thanks very much for the information.

  • You're welcome. Anytime!

  • yep i got a yaris :D its a 5 door hatchback purchased it 1 week ago i wasent worried about the recall cause the yaris wasent in the recall thx again man btw i got the convience package too :D

  • Thanks for the encouraging comment! I hope that you enjoy your new car as much as I have!

  • Wow, the Yaris hatch looks beautiful and sporty-looking. I might consider getting the hatch in a few years or a RAV4 for the winter months. I believe Toyota makes excellent vehicles [despite the safety controversies they're having right now regarding the gas and brake pedals on some models], plus they have excellent resale value, and it looks fun to drive. I think Blazing Blue, Black Sand, Absolutely Red, or Meteorite Metallic might be the best color choices for the hatch in my opinion.

  • Tanks for posting! Good luck with your purchase. This is the first Toyota that I have owned. My next car will be a Toyota as well. I am very happy with it!

  • thanks for the review first i was thinking to get a basic car like the hyundai accent, nissan versa or the toyota yaris i havent made up my mind yet but im definetly considering the toyota yaris after this review this review really helped thanks man:) p.s but im going to get a sedan lol :)

  • Thank you for the compliment! I am glad that I was able to help. If you have any questions, just ask!

  • Good luck, by the way, with whatever you choose to purchase.

  • caveman Review car .... Car Good!

  • Thanks!

  • How long did it take to get use to the dash layout?

  • It didn't take any time at all. The dash board cluster is so "in your face", that the transition was almost immediate.

  • Thanks, Not a bad car I like it.

  • nice job on the yaris review i'm looking to getting one myself but i was wondering what size of rims come with the convenience package? and for what price was offered for you're vehicle? THANKS!

  • Thanks for the compliment! I think the "Convenience Package" comes with the stock 13" wheels, but I may be wrong. Ours did, but you might be able to get larger wheels as an option. Also, Toyota makes a sportier Yaris that I think comes with more desirable wheels already on it. My wife and I paid $12,000 for this car and another $700 for sales tax.

  • the sitting position caused me to have to my car. your either tilted too far upright and people look at you funnyy or your too far back and you look like a ganster. very uncomfortable, you wont notice right away also the interior wears/scatches vary easy

  • Hmm. Well, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I've had the car for a year now and it's already got 37,000 miles on it! My wife is short (5'2) and I'm not much taller (5'9), but it's enough to warrant a seat adjustment every time. I've never had a problem with the seats adjust ability and the cloth seems to be maintaining its integrity. One thing though, I've noticed that the seat makes a squeaking noise now; which reminds me that you get what you pay for. Good luck with the new car!

  • Great review man..subbed and rated.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • I thought air bags were standard these days. except for side air or curtain airbags

  • i cant belive it has man windows my god i dont think you can get front man windows in uk. unless its super super cheap!

  • Ha, ha. Yep, they're still available in the U.S.. In fact, I'm told that the most basic Yaris doesn't even come with a radio! Wow!

  • Really?? HA why is it that the USA always get the most basic small cars? in europe we have hundreds of diffrent options for almost all of our "super minis" . i have had the yaris 1.4 3 door diesel and it was great i got 65mpg plus it came with satnav was quick to 10s to 62mph

  • Well, I wouldn't say that we get the most basic cars. You could get a Yaris that is far nicer than the model I chose; complete with EVERY bell and whistle possible. Theirs also even more basic models out their to choose from and everything in between. I guess it's all up to the purchaser and what he or she wants or needs. In my case, I just wanted a basic car that got me from point 'A' to point 'B' reliably. I didn't want power everything; just a good little vehicle for everyday needs.

  • Im sure you can but in terms of what comes as standerd and the mpg it seems the car companys are a bit scared of bringing you up to date on new tech for small cars! and i do thing companys in USA offer more basic models than they do in west europe

  • You're probably right. I know that safety is a BIG issue in Eurpoe, and it should be. I've heard a rumor that you hardly ever see an antique car in Germany because if the car has even a hint of rust, the car is destroyed. As a result, they're aren't almost any. People in the United States would really be upset if their antique cars were scrapped, even if they probably should be. I guess we just aren't as concerned. Ha, ha. We get guns, while you get the better cars! A fair trade, I suppose.

  • Im afraid part of that is untrue, the germans love classic cars but germans and britain have a harsh climate that eats cars while they sit in your drive thats why alot of them are made with anti-rust paint which comes as standerd in europe. but cars made today like the yaris will may well only live until they are 10. then they will be scrapped we have a tuff MOT in the EU and you never see a car with rust in most of europe or what we call a banger but classic cars are kept in bubbles ha

  • @frankenstien006 you're almost right :)

a certain amount of rust is tolerated. when there is rust on a important structural element for instance the suspension, the rocker panels (?) or the underside of the car you have the option to fix it and then let them re-evaluate the car. you're not forced to scrap it. i had 3 older cars (all 15+ years, one opel and two VW) all were rusty to a certain extent but passed the evaluation. as long there is no safety issue you're good to go.

  • Huh. That's very interesting. Thanks for clearing up this matter. I have never been to Europe, so my knowledge was limited.

  • nice car, I still love my Aveo though. The middle mount gauge is a bit weird for me.

  • Ha, ha. Thanks for posting!

  • When he called it a bit ugly, all i could imagine was the yaris driving off by it self "you think im ugly" haha...A nice car but the interior like alot of people say is cheap the outside is more attractive than the inside, i like the centre console but i prefer it on the driver side i give it 4 star's for design

  • Wow, I'm giving you a "thumbs up" for constructive criticism! The interior isn't the nicest, but try to keep in mind that this is a economy car. In my opinion, the fit and finish of the plastic is nice;I don't hear any creaking sounds and everything is aligned. A little too much plastic though, and the fabric on the door sill does give it a cheap vibe. The seats are comfy. The center console is one of those things that you either love or hate. Good for scaring friends;bad for "back seat" drivers!

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Yes i agree, it's the smallest of toyota at the moment here in Australia, until the iq arrives, but you get what you paid for and a car for about $17,000 isn't going to be a mercedes, but funny enough i'm actually looking for one to buy haha, i do want one now.

  • the IQ i8s already in the Uk has been for a while now i test drove it and i prefer the yaris

  • Hey, great video! Thanks!

I'm planning on buying the five-door hatchback yaris, and I am hoping that I will be able to fit my golf clubs in the back hahaha. I watched your video on how much would fit in the back and I'm assuming the clubs would fit but I thought I would write to see if you had ever tried putting a set of club in it? if not, do you think they would fit easily?

  • Thanks for the compliment! I have never made an attempt to stow golf clubs in the back of my Yaris, but am pretty sure that you would have little, if any, difficulty. The five door variant should be more than adequate. I take my mountain bike out all the time and it's big; which makes it very clumsy! I've had no problems yet. When you go for a test drive, take your set of clubs with you! There's no sense in buying a car that cannot fulfill your needs. Good luck!

  • How do you feel about this car after a year now?

  • I still love it! The car now has 35,000 miles on it and we haven't had any problems so far. The seats are still extremely comfortable and it still offers a smooth and relatively quiet ride. I think that it was money well spent. If you plan on driving long distances, the Toyota Yaris may just be the car that you're looking for. It's reliable, comfortable, and gets good gas mileage. For the Thanksgiving holiday, I drove it nearly 450 miles and it used less than a tank and a half of fuel.

  • Thanks for the info....I'm planning on buying one soon. Glad to hear you still love it after a year of ownership. Thanks Again

  • You're welcome!

  • 2009 car and no power windows??

  • Power windows are an option, but I prefer simplicity. It takes no effort to wind the window crank a few times to get the window to roll down completely and electric motors are no fun to pay to have replaced when they eventually fail. This particular Toyota Yaris is one of the most basic models that you can get; however, I'm told that the most basic model of the Yaris doesn't even come with a radio!

  • i would really buy a yaris but i just hate when it beeps all the time when i am not wearing a seat belt

  • why wouldn't you wear one?

  • its not that i dont wear a seat belt its just i hate the thought that its beeping when you are not

    personal preference

  • The beeping IS annoying. Something about a car telling the driver what to do (though for good reason) is unsettling.

  • @mosamania123 Wear your seatbelt then...

  • saw u got the manual. nice

  • Thanks! I'm worried that one day manual transmissions will no longer exists. I've always had cars with manual transmissions. The "paddle shifters" are becoming pretty popular; and I'm afraid that they will permanently replace the standard.

  • nice video i'm thinking to buy a toyota yaris or honda civic wich one some body recoment...

  • It depends on how much money you could spend,i myself have bought a Yaris with a lot a luxury in it for a very cheap price .Drives fantastic and is really cheap on the gas.good luck with your choice.

  • 80% of toyotas sold within the last 20 years are still on the road, or so ive read

  • Buy whatever suits you best! Take both cars out for a test drive before deciding.

  • @salva33033 honda civic coupe would be excellent. the interior is much much better, and it gets practically the same mileage, but 30+ more hp. i love the yaris though. so im stuck like you.

  • Honda's are a great car and they're extremely reliable too. I guess it just comes down to a matter of personal preference. Thanks for posting.

  • I just bought a Toyota Yaris! With the CARS program!!!!!!

It was a loaded model with almost 5000 in options. pwr everything. 5 door

  • Cool! Good luck with it!

  • I love my Yaris hatchback...the fuel economy still amazes me haha,

  • Thanks for commenting. Yeah, it's cool how twenty dollars can fill the tank from empty...and I still have a few bucks left over!

  • I got a Yaris hatchback a few months ago. Same color as in this video, 'cept it's a four door with automatic transmission. As a recent college graduate, I don't make a lot of money, so I appreciate it that this car goes very far on very little gas. Oh, and I agree with you, power windows and power locks are just silly and expensive, especially for an economy car like this one. I like the tactile feel of rolling up and down the windows anyway.

  • Thanks for commenting!

  • FYI ( For Your Info) the 4 door yaris hatchback only comes with automatic, manual is not availible.

  • Thanks for commenting. I was not aware of this.

  • i like automatic transmission way better than manual, knowing me ill probably forget to shift or push clutch when i start stuff like that. but i like power locks and windows cuse you get an alarm with power locks and its easier to roll down the windows in the back and passenger side with power ones.

  • Hey, that isn't a bad thing. I have to admit, first gear is still very touchy. I've been driving standard transmissions for a long time now, but first gear with my particular Toyota Yaris is very sensitive. I've had the car for almost nine months now, and (even though I don't stall it) I still have troubles with getting it to go from first at times.

  • Very nice review !

Thanks! and i don't understand why yaris ranked # 31 out of 37 on "affordable small cars" on US News :((((

should i get Yaris 3 door for my 11th grade back to school car?? D:

please give me some advise :D

    thank you!

  • Thanks for the compliment! I don't have television, so I wouldn't know how well it ranked. What I do know is that the car works for me and my spouse, so we're happy! As for advice...I recommend getting the car if it fits your budget and is something that you really like. The Yaris isn't very fast, but it's good, reliable transportation for every day use. Keep your eyes open! You might find something else that is more your style. Good luck!

  • maybe 31 for the model and interior quality

  • In the long run I think it is a better econo box than a hybrid.

  • Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • do u get remote keyless entree?

  • I don't have it, but remote keyless entry is available as an option.

  • I just read in the news that the Yaris is the cheapest car to buy/run when you consider cost, gas, maintenance, insurance, resale value, ect. I don't understand why the automotive media gives it such a hard time, it is what it is, an economical, practical transportation with reasonable comfort and very good build quality. They always point out that it's not the most powerful engine, not the quietest car, blah, blah, blah.

  • hey you think u can fit an adult bike in the back since its a hatchback?

  • I have to move the passenger seat forward a little, but yeah. My Gary Fisher mountain bike fits just fine! =)

  • i consider yaris owner lucky. i cant stand the f word(ford) i have been trying to get rid of my car(f word) for about 7 years but kinda tight in the pocket. im more jealous of people driving these cars than the ones with fancy v8s.

  • Thanks and good luck finding a car that you're happy with.

  • 1.0 or 1.3cc??

  • I believe the '09 model sold in the United States only comes with a 1.5L engine.

Unfortunately, we don't get the D4D diesel or other engines sold overseas-those engines would get killer fuel economy.

  • Wow, all the mini storage areas would make the interior the CCWP holder's dream. (pistol licence) I enjoyed the test drive, Forward visability looks good and I, like you, appreciate the center dash position. I think the dogs you saw in the video must have been out jogging for their health, they didn't look like they were on any particular "mission" or anything. I'd consider one of these cars. We've looked at the Fit, the Yaris, as well as the xb and cube, looking for a fuel saver.

  • Yes, you're right. I've considered how all of the hidden compartments could be a bad thing for police officers, but a good thing for those who have legal gun permits. I hope that you find something that works out. Let me know what you wind up with, and thanks for commenting!

  • It's a pity that Toyota doesn't offer a more performance oriented Yaris in the states like they do in some other markets. If the new 2010 Suzuki Swift Sport is a lesser version than the current one when it comes to the US in 2010, I'll have to take a look at the Yaris again. They're neat cars.

    Great review BTW.

  • Thank you for compliment. When I bought this car, the Toyota dealer had a bright red four door "sport" model. This car had race-like bucket seats in front, a racing spoiler on the back, custom exhaust tips, and a slightly different front end. It looked like a tougher, faster version of the Yaris but, like you, I don't think it would be a car that you'd want to parade around as if it were a speed demon. I think it was just for show, but I could be mistaken. Thanks again for commenting.

  • It's a pity that you didn't take a picture of it. You could have posted it on the Yaris sites and started a deluge of salivation. Hmm. Bad choice of words. Sounds kinda gross. LOL

  • by the way....nice job with this presentation of Yaris :)

  • Thanks a lot! =)

  • i've bought the TDI 1.4l with 90 hp (mine has 4 doors) and I tell you it's the best choise. the consumption is verry low and it has everything you need for a great cruise experience! :)

  • I agree! Thanks for the comment.

  • for me Yaris looks cute!

  • Thanks for commenting.

  • I have buy one the day before yesterday but my one is 1litre version. In Japan we have choice of 1litre 1.3 and 1.5. I bought 1litre because it was most cheapest.

  • Cool! Good luck with it!

  • I think I will pick a Yaris up for my daughter. She is off to University this fall. My wife already gave her money to purchase a car. She ended up buying a Suzuki swift. What a pile of crap! It was in a few accidents already before she purchased it and it spends more time in the shop than she use's it.

But as the saying goes live & learn.

I just can't bear the though of our daughter in a junk car.

So I think I will pick her up the 09 Yaris auto.

    Thx for the good review.

  • Hello, and thanks for the positive feedback. I think your daughter will be very pleased with the Toyota Yaris. It is very easy to drive and has an outstanding turning radius. My wife drives this car every day to work and back, which translates to 120 miles per day. The car now has over 20,000 miles on it, and it's flawless. It has a lot of safety features to offer as well. Once, a nail was lodged in one of the tires, and a sensor was able to detect it. Hope she likes it. Let me know!

  • The '09 interior fabrics are real improvement. My '08 has black seats with silly BLUE polka dots!

Your rear seat is not split folding. If it was, your seatback would be cut into two 60/40 pieces. You have a regular 1 piece folding seat. Alsp, are you sure the rear seat back reclines?

    Great car, enjoy!

  • Ha, ha. Thanks for clearing up the confusion with regards to the rear seat. I have personally sat in the back seat. It reclines! If nothing else, it at least does that. I bought the car in December of 2008. The car currently has over 18,000 miles on the clock, so it is enjoyed a great deal. I am a man who enjoys simplicity, and that is why I personally felt no need for the power package. Heating and air conditioning, however, is a luxury that isn't taken for granted!

  • congrat dude, have fun with it!!

  • Thank you!

  • I have the 2008 version of your car, same color too.

First, it's NOT ugly! My car gets looks, questions and complements all the time.

Also, you should have gotten the power package. Then you would have enjoyed the split folding, sliding, reclining rear seats. Not to mention power windows, locks. and mirrors.:-)

    Good luck with it!

  • Hello, and thanks for commenting. I have received compliments about the car regarding its looks, but have also heard people openly admit that they think it's ugly. I think that's fine! It's all relative, and some things just aren't meant for everyone. I have no power windows, locks, or mirrors and do just fine without them. To my knowledge, the rear seat is fixed (it doesn't slide back and forth), but it is split folding and reclining.

  • Bought one today...I like it!!

  • Congratulations and good luck!

  • I was thinking about getting a Honda Fit but my income has dropped a bit so I might have to go with a Yaris instead. It looks like a nice car and I've heard of people getting 35mpg. That's 13mpg better than my compact Chevy. I'm just afraid that with all the extra charges the the Yaris will get up to $15k or $16k before I can drive it off the lot. :( I bet this car will last forever though with proper care.

  • Hello, and thanks for commenting. I paid 12,600 for my Toyota Yaris. Sales tax was an additional $700.00. The Honda Fit is a good car. My father in-law has one. The cargo area is larger but it's lower to the ground; making the suspension stiff. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the Fit if you're a commuter. The seats in the Yaris are much more comfortable too!

  • Wierd, on the Toyota website this is what they have: "Driver and front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags." It's says S for standard, and I changed all different models around with diff. transmissions, they all have it as S even though my '08 sedan with the "power package" (power windows/locks, etc.) doesn't not have side airbags. Oh well, I guess with time they will be tossing this into all their cars like Hyundai does.

  • I didn't know that the Yaris even had side curtain airbags as an option, unless it's an '09 + option, usually doesn't come on 15K cars, unless it's a Hyundai.

  • No airbags. Did you just say that had a no air bag option?

  • The "convenience package" comes with front airbags for the driver and passenger of the car, as well as curtain airbags to protect the driver, front passenger, and rear occupants. To my knowledge, every Toyota Yaris comes standard with the driver and passenger air bag. I could be wrong though.

  • Try finding the 12V cigarette lighter fuse... if you find it, let me know where it is. My father blew the cigarette lighter when I first bought my '08 Yaris, he dropped a tick-tack inside of it, intead of using a toothpick or some other NON-METALLIC object to fish it out, he decided to use a nail clipper and POW! It's been dead since, no juice. And the fuse is MIA, we looked all over. It's one of those Japanese torture things I guess, the fuse is probably in the muffler or something.

  • Interesting story! If I find it, I'll let you know.

  • 3:49 - Hey genius, you see the proprod on the battery? LOL I know it's only been 3 days of ownership in the video, I just don't want you to kill yourself if the hood falls down on your head.

  • Ha, ha. Well, thanks for your concern! I already knew about the hood prop. I was just trying to show that the hood was so small that it can stand on its own. (I've never seen a hood that small before and thought it was funny.) Anyway, I've almost got twenty thousand miles on it now, and the hood prop is always used for its intended purpose. Thanks for the comment!

  • i love it!...

    nice review ^^,

  • Thanks!

  • this car runs and handles better than the honda civic. I use to love hondas, but now I'm a toyota fan

  • Thanks for the constructive comment!

  • No power window?

    WTF

  • The Toyota Yaris can be purchased with power windows, but my spouse and I thought that it was an unnecessary luxury. It takes no time at all to roll the windows down by hand. Plus, power windows are expensive to fix when those little electric motors go out.

  • Yea, I agree.. I don't like power windows either.. One of the reasons I was looking at the Yaris. I honestly would pay more to NOT have crappy power windows. Power windows just jam up and don't work when it hits colder than 30 below and then you can't see anything because of all the snow and ice hitting the windshields.. Not to mention that you can't roll up/down the window without the engine running... Power Windows is one of the most worthless things ever made.

  • Your crazy. Power windows is a Godsend. Granted your NOT supposed to try to lower the windows when they're frozen stuck, but even in cold weather, near 0 F with windchill in NJ, I never had any problems, it's a bit slower going up but c'mon, it's 2009, not 1919. You might as well have those little levers they used to use to control the oil pressure as you drive, LOL. Plus, even if the motor goes bad, you remove the door panel and install the new motor! It's not like your rebuilding the engine.

  • Hi 'frank'...it's been at least five months since you've had the car. What's your feeling about it now? Still liking it? Hope so!

  • Yes, I still love this car. Our Toyota has 16,000 miles on it already! No mechanical problems yet.

  • Thanks for sharing your review! I really want one of these!

  • You're welcome!

  • It is not an ugly car dude!! I love it!! Nice review.

  • Thanks!

  • I'm just wondering, how much did you pay for this vehicle? I was interested in getting one myself and I checked out the dealership near my area (Toyota of El Cajon in San Diego County) and they have them going for only $14,555.00 PLUS a $1000 factory rebate on top of that! I thought that sounded like a really great deal for a brand new car!

  • I paid $12,600.00 for the car and sales tax was another $700.00. I bet the model you looked at had a lot more to offer than mine; as mine was almost as basic as you could get!

  • im sorry and i dont mean to be like a hater...but that is a really ugly car..but probally good for driving back and forth

to places, and thats about it lol

  • Ha, ha. Well, I'll agree that it isn't the most attractive, but I don't think the Yaris looks THAT bad. At any rate, you are entitled to your own opinion. Thanks for sharing!

  • yaa it isnt horrible..probally worth the sacrafice of looks for the gas mileage

  • i heard they are renaming the yaris next year to the "wild storage monkey" lol

  • We just got our 2009 Yaris S Sedan today.. HAve some plans for the extrerior already. I'm sure i'll enjoy driving it!

  • Helpful review! A lot of "um's" Though :P

Of course i'm sure you didn't exactly rehearse this. Thanks for uploading!

  • You're welcome!

  • dude, can u climb on hilly areas driving this car (automatic transmission) easily?

    or it struggles ????

  • Hi. That's a good question. It's very hilly where I live, and I have never had any troubles getting around; but I drive a standard. I never got a chance to drive the automatic version, so I really couldn't tell you how well it would or wouldn't perform on steep terrain. Sorry. =(

  • The Yaris in Canada has a tachometer.

    I love my Yaris.

  • Ha, ha! Well, I admit that it isn't exactly a head turner, but at least it's more attractive than the echo. However, I didn't buy this car for looks. I bought this car because it's very practical and reliable transportation. This car really holds its own on the highway, and I have no problems keeping up with traffic in town. It gets good gas mileage and it'll turn on a dime too. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
