I would've been one who said OMG so cute! but then, like everyone else here, I saw that documentary, now I well up when I see this shit. Absolutely fucking sickening.
Quite frankly I think you are either completely thick to even post this video or you need a bloody brain transplant, just how ignorant are you to these animal rights? They belong in the wild NOT in your home, do the decent thing & get this animal to the people who can look after it properly! I urge more people to report this for what it is, animal abuse whether it was born in the wild or captivity it most definately does not belong with this idiot who obviously just thought it was 'cute'. MUPPET
"Dr. Anna Nekaris of Oxford Brookes University is a leading expert on lorises and she says what's going on here is far from cute. The animal in the first video, she says, is obese, is losing its hair, and is generally in very poor health. She thinks that might have something to do with being played with under a bright light when the loris is naturally nocturnal. She says the prone position the animal is in is one of defenselessness against a predator. In other words, it's begging for its life."
@wired, I completely suport @alisoncross4webs suggestion of linking up to Dr Anna Nekaris' website directly under your video - so that instead of people coming here and saying 'ooh I must have one as a pet!' they get an opportunity to support Dr Nekaris and the Little Fire Face project instead. Also a link to the BBC Documentary available here on YouTube: Jungle Gremlins of Java.
It should be in the wild with its family, but considering in the wild it would probably either be eaten for bush meat or killed by poachers or loggers then it is probably viable they are bred somewhere safer. Unfortunate fact of life, no where is truly safe for these most adorable little animals and other rare and endangered species. Support zoos and wildlife organisations if you really care. But it's home country is probably corrupt and struggling to cope with protecting it's critters.
From Wiki: Brachial glands on the inside of the elbows of the slow loris secrete a brown exudate. This exudate is licked and becomes mixed with saliva. A protein in the secretion, which is similar to the allergen protein isolated from the domestic cat, may be introduced by the bites of slow lorises, resulting in anaphylaxis. Thus, it is questionable whether the slow loris should be considered truly venomous.
True, you should not keep these as pets. However, tell me that isn't the happiest chillest lookin creature ever mann it is quite adorable (it'd be more adorable in the wild, of course)
This animal has been illegally removed from the jungle and is yet another victim of illegal trading in rare animals. When will these stupid people realise that before long the beautiful creatures which are becoming so rare will cease to exist in the wild.
@RebeRAWKS This one was bred in captivity. You have to remember that cats and dogs are domesticated animals. Slow loris' are not domesticated so to have them as pets usually the mother is killed and the baby stolen. I'm not an PETA supporter, but slow loris' aren't meant to be pets. This video is awesome, but should not be a video to judge true slow loris'.
@RebeRAWKS how the hell do u know if its happy or not? would you like to live somewhere totally alien to your species & be taken out of your natural habitat? maybe someone should put u in a cage & see how it feels. what choice has this animal had in where it has ended up? NONE it is not a domesticated animal & nor should it be treated as such, ur a knob for even suggesting this is ok. people with an ounce of decency would never even contemplate having an animal such as this it is not a 'pet'!
Unfortunately, regardless of where Sonya came from, or the legality of keeping a primate as a pet in Russia, no slow loris has ever been imported into Russia legally for keeping as a pet. Please read the page on slow lorises on Wikipedia. If you love these animals educate yourself before thinking of having one as & watch the YouTube BBC documentary, Jungle Gremlins of Java.
People need to watch the BBC's Natural world Documentary 'Jungle Gremlins of Java'...please do not buy these amazing animals and fuel an illegal pet trade, they should remain in the WILD!
oooh yeah if anyone is interested in one cute slow loris come over to mines am selling them ....................... when u do come around ill swap it for your moms stupid cunt this is a wild animals which belongs in the wild ...............
am sorrry up loader i am gonna ave to report this video i hope i hope u do understand this why cudnt you just get a cat or a dog whats wrong with you guys !!>?? but its so sad now that his front teeth have been pulled out it will never make it in the wild again PLEASE SAVE THE LORIS!!!
@wired it appalls me you are posting this video. It's misunderstood by most who watch it. It's illegal in most countries to own lorises as pets and slow lorises in videos are docile as it's their passive defensive reaction to threatening situations. Please read the page on slow lorises on Wikipedia. If you love these animals post a note on this telling people to educate themselves before thinking of having one as a pet & link to the YouTube BBC documentary, Jungle Gremlins of Java.
leave them be!, they are nor will they ever be a pet ! its the stupid idiots who think aw how cute, who need to see what they are doing to theses animals ! Having just watched' BBC I PLAYER' documentary on them, anyone misguided and stupid enough to buy one needs locking up for encouraging the illegal trade that's rife and the unbelievably cruel treatment of them ..
Ediot !!! Put it back in the jungle ! If I ever met or saw someone with one of these as a pet or in a cage I'd get ravage savage and dangerous on there asses, and stick them in a F***ing cage !
@rdc123 here mate the market is killing them why dont u thick people understand you wouldn't dare try to keep a deadly tigar in your house so why keep an innocent slow loris save THE SLOW LORIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These animals are endangered and they should be in wild. Pet trade is one of the main cause for their decline. If everybody reports this video as animal abuse this will be removed by youtube. You can do it by clicking little flag under the video and click on choose a reason and choose violent and compulsive content and animal abuse.
@MrThomas1234567891 hey mate u can never get bitten by this one cos when u buy as a pet the front teeth have been pulled out how would u feel after that ......
Dear Animal Rights Activists browsing youtube videos randomly,
Just because this video has 9 million views doesn't mean that 9 million people are now illegally purchasing and holding a Loris captive from its environment and ripping its teeth out. Just because 9 million people watch a Skateboarding double backflip off of a roof doesn't mean we all do one the next day. It's not how youtube works, that's not how the view number system works. SO let's all take a deep breath now. You're welcome.
Dear Mr ignorant of how the real world works as he's stuck to a screen
Correct that 9 million views does not mean 9 million people with loris'.
Now if you ask everyone who says this animal is cute if they will pay £500 for one and you will deliver it next week.
Every yes answer you get is a nail in the coffin of another endangered species as for every potential customer there is a trapper, pet shop owner, etc who would like a slice of that £500.
@GrampaXG72Y It would be nice if life was that simple but it's not. Noone said 9 million people are going out to buy a Loris, but being a highly viewed video -that was even shown on TV - it makes the Loris popular and desirable; which increases demand. So yes, there will be people out there trying to find out where they can get one, this video was on the news in Russia, of course people will want one -it may be legal to keep one there but they are sold into the country from illegal traders.
I think otherwise about making them pet, because if they ever become mainstream, then will never be near extinction again. Not to mention in details how much more job this single pet of great marketing potential can bring to our many societies around the world. Make it our pet and have them live in household and on the streets! HAHA!
Do you feel like watching more animals? Click on my name below and find them on your right. My videos are over %80 pixel free :)
As a conservationist and exotic's nut myself I would like to say, please, please don't take the recent loris trade comments as a criticism. You clearly love Sonya very much and had no idea at the potential implications it would cause. I agree with alisoncross4webs that it would be brilliant of you to link the loris conservation project on this video. You're clearly a caring person and I'm sure it goes without saying that you'll see the power of this video for good to help sonya's wild cousins.
I know that your slow loris was bred in captivity, but many of them sold as pets are taken from the wild and Dr Anna Nekaris and her team are working hard to ensure the slow loris survives in Indonesia. It would be really wonderful if you could link up to their website directly under your video - so that instead of people coming here and saying 'ooh I must have one as a pet!' they get an opportunity to support Dr Nekaris and the Little Fire Face project instead?
skillcosby88 it does seem like a good idea but the reason these animals are going extinct is because they are being mutilated for medicine use and caught for the pet trade. Very few animals are suitable for domestication. These animals have a lethal bite and require specific poisonous foodstuffs to eat, and are nocturnal. Please watch Jungle Gremlins in Youtube, all parts and then come back and tell us what you think.
The answer is not to domesticate endangered animals. Do you think that the only answer is to keep animals in zoos or private collections while they and their habitat are destroyed? Would that make it ok, that we can go see them even if it is in a cage? Dogs and cats were domesticated over thousands of years. Not over a decade or two. That's like Paris Hilton saying an animal is protected provided some idiot is carrying it around in their handbag.
such beautiful creatures, but the animal trade this loris was most probably bought from, and is therefore fuelling is disgusting, the suffering this animal has most likely gone through is disgusting. the people who sell these beautiful and albeit cute, *DANGEROUS* creatures to misled and innocent people from first world countries should be kept in cages for the rest of their lives.
we should domesticate these animals before they go extinct so people can have them as cute cuddly pets AND the slow loris can be happy as well! dogs and cats werent always pets you know...
@skillcosby88 slow loris's secrete a toxin in glands on their elbows, they rub it on their young for protection and lick at it too, which gives them a deadly bite, not like your cat or dog but i like the idea!
Very cute but definitely not a pet! That animal probably went through some major shit to get tickled. Teeth ripped out, crammed into boxes with other loris' (some of those probably dead). They look better in the wild than at someone's house.
Please google "Jungle Gremlins of Java" if you think you want one of these as a pet. The animals are illegally caught in Indonesia and other countries for the pet trade. They are treated inhumanely - teeth ripped out, kept in airless boxes which are thrown about as if they are nothing more than stones, & then sold as 'pets' because they are cute. Some 'exotic' animals don't have to have their teeth ripped out to be sold as pets, these do. The extractions cause infections and sometimes death.
Why do people have to get all sentimental about this sort of stuff? Its a cute animal getting a bit of tickle. Grow the fuck up and stop acting like self-righteous 'Im out to save the world but I wont leave my computer to do it or actually take it upon myself to lift a finger higher than whats needed to type on my keyboard' pricks.
@EFUgyrgyr a mature counter argument! Im not suggesting they go out to the wild and chain themselves to a tree. What Im saying is; 99.99999% of the 'save the world' comments are written by people who I won't donate any money to animal charities, will never join a protest action and will never make an impact on the trade of exotic pets, so why cant they just enjoy the video for what it is, and see how it can bring a smile to millions of people.
@EFUgyrgyr Is the happiness of millions not worth one animal living out side of the wild where it doesnt have to worry about predators, or whether its going to survive the winter, or where its next meal is going to come from?
@JPG126 I don't usually respond to any comments on the computer but once in a while something really makes you angry like this comment.. 'It's a cute animal getting a bit of a tickle'. This shows absolutely no foresight or understanding of the larger picture and what 'a bit of a tickle' can lead to, i.e to be seen as pets and then exploitation and extinction. Lots of people do 'leave their computer' and either actively help animals in danger or donate money. I wonder what you do?
@Happyhippydad Lots of people might do, but I bet that these keyboard activists are not included in their number. If you're telling me that people who watch this video will move to one of the few places in the world where buying these animals as pets is legal (such as Russia, where this video originates) then Im sorry but I find that to be a stupid reason for taking these videos off youtube. My argument is not about whether the trade of endangered animals is wrong or not (clearly it is)..
@Happyhippydad but rather that people shouldnt comment on this video and make out as if they have taken it upon themselves to save the world, when it actual fact theyre probably sat at the computer eating food from battery animals, wearing clothes made by slave labour in Asia and wearing cosmetics that were tested on animals,
@JPG126@JPG126 You may have a good point that people are willing to comment on some issues and not others they should, but that doesn't justify delighting in something that is wrong or dismissing it as trivial (which is what you did). Making a point about human exploitation and slave labour is as puersuasive as arguing that the police shouldn't waste time on domestic violence when there are murderers out there.
@DRDFOX Your analogy seems to completely miss the point of my argument. It's not that people should focus on one thing over another but rather that people should take a look around them and at themselves and look at the bigger picture surrounding that before commenting. Also, I acknowledge the fact that trafficking in exotic and endangered animals is wrong but I dont see the point in moaning about it on a video that supposed to make people happy, in some futile attempt to make an impact.
@ItsMaggoo It's the demand for these animals as pets that is largely to blame for them being endangered. If no one wanted to buy them/have them as pets, they wouldn't be removed from their natural habitat and sold.
What it is doing is a defense mechanism. The snow Loris stands still when it feels threatened. You are making your cute "pet" feel threatened. How can you stand that?
People should not buy ANY sort of exotic pets, buying these pets is not only cruel because the animals are taken away from their natural habitat, but it fuels a really horrible black market in which these animals are treated really really badly; If you like these adorable animals DO NOT BUY THEM and help to stop the illegal pet trades!!!! WE are already damaging the planet enough and putting many species at risk of extinction without people buying wild animals as pets just because they are cute
People who are saying this animal is not being mistreated are missing the point. The pet trade that this animal was bought from is leading the species to extinction. To stop the Loris's venomous bite, they literally tear out it's teeth, often resulting in the primates death. In captivity owners tend to feed the loris an unhealthy, unnatural diet. This video makes people want a loris, it is therefore encouraging the extinction of this magnificent animal.
@rugby543211 omg you telling me about this just made me wanna buy one!....get real all this video did was show me an interesting animal. If it was made for the sale of an endangered animal or their intent was to increase the trade then you might have a point.
@wickedss99 If you actually care for this animal then donate to their cause, you don't help them at all by being selfish and buying one, they are illegal to own in most countries but are smuggled into many countries. They are stolen from the wild and are NOT bred in captivity meaning their numbers are in great decline. Mortality rates after capture are huge. Who cares what the up-loaders intent was, this video is damaging the species. Watch the documentary and do some research.
The Slow Loris is massively endangered and all who support the illegal pet trade should be should be thoroughly ashamed of their actions. This unforgivable action may inevitably empty the forests and lead to ‘empty forest syndrome’. Taking pets that have been acquired from the wild should be stopped in an attempt to bring about change within our global community. All people, especially the young need to be educated so that tomorrow may bring about positive change for our world.
These comments make me sick... you really think this animal is being mistreated and not enjoying this? ha... if I posted a video of me doing the same to my dog you's idiots would probably think the same thing! I am against animal cruelty that's for sure, but you people are over-the-top. (Yes, I'm waiting for some wise guy to respond to this and say how wrong and how much of an idiot I am... happens every time)
@SpooksOneske Perhaps you should ask yourself why it happens everytime? You haven't quite grasped it yet have you. Pointless explaining it to you I think, but keep trying I think you'll get there..
It has it's arms up because a loris would normally would emit toxins from it's elbows in defense.
Many of you think he's having a good time because you are way too human centric. Humans think this pose and the 'cuteness' means the animal is happy, because it mimics happy human behaviour. Very much the opposite.
"Dr. Anna Nekaris of Oxford Brookes University is a leading expert on lorises and she says what's going on here is far from cute. The animal in the first video, she says, is obese, is losing its hair, and is generally in very poor health. She says the prone position the animal is in is one of defenselessness against a predator. In other words, it's begging for its life."
to anyone who thinks this is funny or cute take a look in the mirror and remind yourself how pathetic, small minded and ignorant you really are, anyone who is trolling here just to get reactions are equally as sad. lets keep to comments directed toward how cruel and damaging this practice really is. youtube should be responsible enough to remove this video.
Not pets, never should be, there very in dangered, make horrible pets as they stink, and are treated horribly when they are captured, ive only watched natural world but i now know if your so passionate about the louis then donate to keep them alive and pass on the message
It's got it's arms in the air to secrete toxins, not to be "tickled". The next step would be to bite you - that's if some fucking animal traffickers haven't ripped its teeth out with pliers. Help end the animal trade by not buying them as pets!
its alright saying they aren`t hurting it,but it should not be there. It is a wild creature of the night that should be living out in the jungle, not in someones living room.
Yes, it's a gorgeous little animal BUT it's dying out, not just because of the destruction of its habitat, because people see this video, fall for them and want one. Many are being caught, kept inhumanely, mutilated (eg their teeth are cut out) and sold in markets to get to rich and ignorant idiots. They make terrible pets: they are venemous, nocturnal and they are ENDANGERED. There was an excellent BBC TV programme about them on BBC on 25thJan. Watch it to the end if you doubt my words.
These are not pets - anyone who wants one should have a look at some of the clips of the illegal trade in lorises and the horrible conditions they live in and the way they are treated. But more than that - they are WILD and they are ENDANGERED and please please please don't think of them as pets, anyone who buys one is just worsening the illegal and cruel trade in them. If you want to know more about it the recent BBC Natural world doc on them shows a little of the trade. Horrifying.
Please people join me and end the illegal pet trade. This is wrong and every one of us knows it. We think we understand animals but we dont. The truth is they don't have a voice and we of all people forcefully putting words into their mouths like " he's happy because his arms are raised" is wrong. Please in the name of the lord flag this video. Just a moment of your time can help save thousands of innocent animals from extinction. So if you really want love the face on this cute animal.
Please please please DON'T even think about getting one of these as a pet. They are nocturnal; they should not be sat in a bright light for people to tickle them and say 'aww, it's so cute'. Before it comes to you as a pet it will have been through hell: taken from its natural solitary life, trapped in a tiny cage or box, tossed around, picked up by its ears or legs, and been left for days in hot, cramped places. Wild animals belong in the wild, and if you have any compassion you have to agree!
What the fuck is up with all of this hate? They aren't stabbing the animal. They're tickling it, the animal isn't suffering or in pain, and actually seems to be enjoying the tickling. I can understand being upset about how these animals can be pets, but don't bitch about the people who have them as pets, that are UNAWARE of the animals being illegally trapped for pet trade.
@FaithNicholyn we are not saying hes abusing it we are saying that millions of people are watching this and saying 'oh hes so cut i want one as a pet' which is fuelling illegal pet trades and slowly killing these animals off in the wild
This is so sick can you belive theese people are making money off this video please if you have any care for animals give it to a proffesional organisation who will help it in any way possible.
Worrying that the owners seem to be enjoying the media attention and making more videos. As do many other Loris owners.Ive seen videos with lemurs, monkeys and other wild animals as pets aswell. Even if the western world listens i hope the other nations who have watched these videos take note. Look at the trade in rhino horn as an aphrodisiac as a reason not to have these as pets people!
These poor naive people where told - it was born in a "loris nursery". Astonishingly they believed them and bought it not knowing any of the reality of its origin.
It looks as if others saw the programme on BBC 2 on Wednesday night exposing the exploitation of these rare and beautiful animals. It was heartbreaking to watch. Please, please You Tube do not encourage such cruelty by allowing such videos to be uploaded thus creating even a greater demand for this endangered species.
@skillcosby88 You sicken me with your ignorant attitude to these endangered animals. Grow up, the animals on this planet are not there to entertain us! However, I would be prepared to make an exception, I think it would be a lot of fun to lock you in a small froom with a really hungry lion. Now that's an entertaining thought. Or with a hive of really angry wasps? Yes, wasps first, then on into the hungry lion room. Anyway, I digress, you are an idiot.
@GloriaFlangerella I understand this is an emotianal cause but we must educate theese people on the slow loris otherwise it will only end in an argument, but if we do educate them they may convert to our side, we must stop this cruelty even though this animal looks happy it dosn't mean it hasn't been treated badly in the past.
@Taaaaap Do you know why I won't become a "bum" like you? Do you know why I am going to pass my GCSE's??? It's because I am hard-working, I have a goal in life and drive to accomplish it. I want to go in to conservation to help animals like the loris. But with an attitude like yours the human race will go nowhere. Where there's a will there's a way. It seems like you had it and lost it, but believe me I won't buddy.
@Taaaaap Listen Taaap (I don't care how it is spelt, its all bollocks anyway and it doesn't make you any less of a dickhead) if you have done so much travelling and experiencing different people's way of life, why is it that you are so negative about everything? Things can be done when people work together. It's happened before mate, so I see no reason why it can't happen again. A letter is all I'm capable of now, so in the meantime why don't you get off your arse and do something?
I am so appalled at this video. It is sick to consider these beautiful creatures as a pet. I hope you live in eternal shame for your actions; in helping bring the potential extinction of these creatures in the wild. The inhumanity and total heartless actions of the illegal pet traders to bring this and other Slow Loris's abroad for pets, is a disgrace!! YOU TUBE BAN THESE CLIPS!!
@skillcosby88 - what good are they if humans cant entertain themselves with them - humans are not the be all and end in this world, it would be good if you considered that. we actually do not have the right to destroy in order to a"amuse" ouselves. Educate yourself.
the international pet trade capturing wild animals for human wims is awful. highlighted by the BBC Natrual World series, a programme about the Slow Lorris and a campaign to save them in the wild can inform. Please dont fuel the cruelty of capturing these animals.
Natural World on BBC is what lead me to this video, after watching the program on BBC i almost felt like crying after how they treat Slow Loris selling them as pets in Indonesia! it has to stop!!
@rugby543211 I think there should be an internationally recognised complete ban on having these primates as a pet, with serious consequences for those who choose to ignore it.
@SuperThano Yeah I agree, I hope people reading this will go on bbc iplayer and watch - natural world - Jungle Gremlins of Java. It will make it clear to them why this video is wrong
@rugby543211 Yea I watched it and it upset me so much. I had never heard of these animals before that. The footage of the market was horrendus I cried and cried. Please everyone if you are thinking of buying one of these because it is cute THINK AGAIN! People that trade in these animals do not care if one dies they will just replace it with another. Their teeth are pulled out and they are kept in terrible conditions. Watch the programme if you don't believe me.
@23WhiteFlag because in the wild they eat poinsonous animals. they secrete it in there skin and use it as a natural insecticide, amoungst other things. in captivity they are not able to do this
@23WhiteFlag they have a very venomous bite (which can and has been known to kill people) and they also secrete a fairly nasty substance when threatened which when combined with their saliva is also poisonous. Wikipedia's page on venomous animals also gives more info on it f you want the technicalities though!
@ultraAnonymous556 Yes but you don't know the difference between there and they're so until you receive an education you should maybe just shut the **** up.
please let's get this video taken down. these beautiful animals belong in the jungle. they are not meant to be house pets, they are ENDANGERED. the sellers take their teeth out and remove their poison glands so they can't even protect themselves if they are ever returned home. For each one that 'looks happy' there must be dozens of others that died a miserable foul wretched death in some filthy cage. Pathetic people that must have exotic pets. This sh*t makes me so ashamed for the human race.
think about it this way: wouldn't it be better for slow loris to go extinct and for humans to get enjoyment out of them rather than leaving them alone and not getting any enjoyment? i mean, what good are they if humans can't entertain themselves with these little guys?
@skillcosby88 What good are you if all the animals are extinct and cannot entertain themselves with you? You matter as much to nature as any other miserable animal on this planet. You are insignificant, worthless and all that is special about the human race is the fact that we have technology. It is power given to us above any animal on this planet, and a responsibility as well. If we are driving these guys extinct, we deserve to go extinct ourselves.
@skillcosby88 So any animal you can't have as a pet is worthless? First off If you kill all wild animals there will be serious consequences for the planet and people and second just because an animal be it a lion a slow loris or a squirrel monkey doesn't make a good pet doesn't mean they are worthless. They are just wild animals that don't make good pets and don't do well in most people's homes/enclosures.
@skillcosby88 Loris's are an endangered species and should not be kept as pets also they are illegal pets. Instead of tickling them and saying how cute they are we should be saving them!!!!!
@skillcosby88 no, set up sustainable breeding programs if you must have them as pets. The way they are being obtained as pets now is horrible. What gives us the right to take the slow loris away from future generations? just so we can have them as a novelty pet. Its selfish and unfair on this amazing creature.
It's cute, but just because it's cute doesn't mean I'm going to get one.I have worked with animals in zoo before I respect conservation immensly. For starters while the pet trade is a big player in the loss of animals habitat destruction is 100 fold. There are people out there torturing cats and dogs now and not looking after 'non- endangered' pets at least this one looks like it is being looked after.
this video is irresponsible and disgusting. and who ever put this video should be taken down and because of you this video the Slow Loris is not going to be on earth any more and i want let that happen so my calss is doing some thing to stop this indanger animal so please like for my calsses help
@rtkstyle u r an idiot! These things r endangered! U little prick go rot in a hole, check out a newer movie on slow loris then u will change ur mind ignorant little prick
If you want to take them off the endangered species list and improve the conditions in which they are kept, then legalize (and regulate) the ownership and breeding of them. The reason they are treated so badly is because they are traded on the black market which doesn't allow for innovation and humane treatment of animals. You will NEVER stop the inhumane treatment of the Slow Loris while it is illegal. The fact is people want them as pets, and keeping them illegal is hurting more than helping
this beautiful creature is goin extinct because humans are addicted to being entertained by animals

These Animals are on the verge of extinction,
IF U THINK THEY ARE CUTE & ADORABLE & BEAUTIFUL !!!

RebeRAWKS 1 day ago
@RebeRAWKS This one was bred in captivity. You have to remember that cats and dogs are domesticated animals. Slow loris' are not domesticated so to have them as pets usually the mother is killed and the baby stolen. I'm not an PETA supporter, but slow loris' aren't meant to be pets. This video is awesome, but should not be a video to judge true slow loris'.
carlsoto1747 1 day ago
@RebeRAWKS how the hell do u know if its happy or not? would you like to live somewhere totally alien to your species & be taken out of your natural habitat? maybe someone should put u in a cage & see how it feels. what choice has this animal had in where it has ended up? NONE it is not a domesticated animal & nor should it be treated as such, ur a knob for even suggesting this is ok. people with an ounce of decency would never even contemplate having an animal such as this it is not a 'pet'!

GrampaXG72Y 2 days ago
@GrampaXG72Y
Thats how the real world works.
revc2010 1 day ago
@GrampaXG72Y It would be nice if life was that simple but it's not. Noone said 9 million people are going out to buy a Loris, but being a highly viewed video -that was even shown on TV - it makes the Loris popular and desirable; which increases demand. So yes, there will be people out there trying to find out where they can get one, this video was on the news in Russia, of course people will want one -it may be legal to keep one there but they are sold into the country from illegal traders.

I know that your slow loris was bred in captivity, but many of them sold as pets are taken from the wild and Dr Anna Nekaris and her team are working hard to ensure the slow loris survives in Indonesia. It would be really wonderful if you could link up to their website directly under your video - so that instead of people coming here and saying 'ooh I must have one as a pet!' they get an opportunity to support Dr Nekaris and the Little Fire Face project instead?

bethtopsy 2 days ago
skillcosby88 it does seem like a good idea but the reason these animals are going extinct is because they are being mutilated for medicine use and caught for the pet trade. Very few animals are suitable for domestication. These animals have a lethal bite and require specific poisonous foodstuffs to eat, and are nocturnal. Please watch Jungle Gremlins in Youtube, all parts and then come back and tell us what you think.
DansarJensen 2 days ago

@skillcosby88 slow loris's secrete a toxin in glands on their elbows, they rub it on their young for protection and lick at it too, which gives them a deadly bite, not like your cat or dog but i like the idea!

The price it pays just to be tickled by humans that think it's "cute". It would bite the shit out of them if it still had teeth.
0249 3 days ago
Very cute but definitely not a pet! That animal probably went through some major shit to get tickled. Teeth ripped out, crammed into boxes with other loris' (some of those probably dead). They look better in the wild than at someone's house.
mikefoyemail 3 days ago
Please google "Jungle Gremlins of Java" if you think you want one of these as a pet. The animals are illegally caught in Indonesia and other countries for the pet trade. They are treated inhumanely - teeth ripped out, kept in airless boxes which are thrown about as if they are nothing more than stones, & then sold as 'pets' because they are cute. Some 'exotic' animals don't have to have their teeth ripped out to be sold as pets, these do. The extractions cause infections and sometimes death.

Why do people have to get all sentimental about this sort of stuff? Its a cute animal getting a bit of tickle. yes because everyone can go to jakarta to liberate the various species of loris ya dumbass fuckface
EFUgyrgyr 3 days ago
@EFUgyrgyr a mature counter argument! Im not suggesting they go out to the wild and chain themselves to a tree. What Im saying is; 99.99999% of the 'save the world' comments are written by people who I won't donate any money to animal charities, will never join a protest action and will never make an impact on the trade of exotic pets, so why cant they just enjoy the video for what it is, and see how it can bring a smile to millions of people.
JPG126 3 days ago
@EFUgyrgyr Is the happiness of millions not worth one animal living out side of the wild where it doesnt have to worry about predators, or whether its going to survive the winter, or where its next meal is going to come from?
JPG126 3 days ago
@EFUgyrgyr Ask your self that one, and then reply to me with something other than a sarcastic and moronic statement.
JPG126 3 days ago
@JPG126 I don't usually respond to any comments on the computer but once in a while something really makes you angry like this comment.. 'It's a cute animal getting a bit of a tickle'. This shows absolutely no foresight or understanding of the larger picture and what 'a bit of a tickle' can lead to, i.e to be seen as pets and then exploitation and extinction. Lots of people do 'leave their computer' and either actively help animals in danger or donate money. I wonder what you do?
Happyhippydad 3 days ago 3
@Happyhippydad Lots of people might do, but I bet that these keyboard activists are not included in their number. If you're telling me that people who watch this video will move to one of the few places in the world where buying these animals as pets is legal (such as Russia, where this video originates) then Im sorry but I find that to be a stupid reason for taking these videos off youtube. My argument is not about whether the trade of endangered animals is wrong or not (clearly it is)..
JPG126 3 days ago
@Happyhippydad but rather that people shouldnt comment on this video and make out as if they have taken it upon themselves to save the world, when it actual fact theyre probably sat at the computer eating food from battery animals, wearing clothes made by slave labour in Asia and wearing cosmetics that were tested on animals,
JPG126 3 days ago
@JPG126 @JPG126 You may have a good point that people are willing to comment on some issues and not others they should, but that doesn't justify delighting in something that is wrong or dismissing it as trivial (which is what you did). Making a point about human exploitation and slave labour is as puersuasive as arguing that the police shouldn't waste time on domestic violence when there are murderers out there.
DRDFOX 3 days ago
@DRDFOX Your analogy seems to completely miss the point of my argument. It's not that people should focus on one thing over another but rather that people should take a look around them and at themselves and look at the bigger picture surrounding that before commenting. Also, I acknowledge the fact that trafficking in exotic and endangered animals is wrong but I dont see the point in moaning about it on a video that supposed to make people happy, in some futile attempt to make an impact.
JPG126 2 days ago
These people that are saying it indangered you shouldnt have it as a pet, isnt keeping it as a pet keeping it un indangered , i maybe wrong
ItsMaggoo 3 days ago
@ItsMaggoo It's the demand for these animals as pets that is largely to blame for them being endangered. If no one wanted to buy them/have them as pets, they wouldn't be removed from their natural habitat and sold.

WE are already damaging the planet enough and putting many species at risk of extinction without people buying wild animals as pets just because they are cute

the trade of the slow loris is increasing they are endangered I agree THEY ARE NOT PETS
hhp1111 3 days ago
People who are saying this animal is not being mistreated are missing the point. The pet trade that this animal was bought from is leading the species to extinction. To stop the Loris's venomous bite, they literally tear out it's teeth, often resulting in the primates death. In captivity owners tend to feed the loris an unhealthy, unnatural diet. This video makes people want a loris, it is therefore encouraging the extinction of this magnificent animal.

@rugby543211 omg you telling me about this just made me wanna buy one!....get real all this video did was show me an interesting animal. If it was made for the sale of an endangered animal or their intent was to increase the trade then you might have a point.
wickedss99 2 days ago

All people, especially the young need to be educated so that tomorrow may bring about positive change for our world.

c0pper 3 days ago
It has it's arms up because a loris would normally would emit toxins from it's elbows in defense.
Many of you think he's having a good time because you are way too human centric. Humans think this pose and the 'cuteness' means the animal is happy, because it mimics happy human behaviour. Very much the opposite.
c0pper 3 days ago
In other words, it's begging for its life."
c0pper 3 days ago

Please please please DON'T even think about getting one of these as a pet. They are nocturnal; they should not be sat in a bright light for people to tickle them and say 'aww, it's so cute'. Before it comes to you as a pet it will have been through hell: taken from its natural solitary life, trapped in a tiny cage or box, tossed around, picked up by its ears or legs, and been left for days in hot, cramped places. Wild animals belong in the wild, and if you have any compassion you have to agree!

Natural World on BBC is what lead me to this video, after watching the program on BBC i almost felt like crying after how they treat Slow Loris selling them as pets in Indonesia! it has to stop!!
zarcilla82 4 days ago
@rugby543211 I think there should be an internationally recognised complete ban on having these primates as a pet, with serious consequences for those who choose to ignore it.

@SuperThano Yeah I agree, I hope people reading this will go on bbc iplayer and watch - natural world - Jungle Gremlins of Java. It will make it clear to them why this video is wrong
rugby543211 3 days ago 4
@rugby543211 Yea I watched it and it upset me so much. I had never heard of these animals before that. The footage of the market was horrendus I cried and cried. Please everyone if you are thinking of buying one of these because it is cute THINK AGAIN! People that trade in these animals do not care if one dies they will just replace it with another. Their teeth are pulled out and they are kept in terrible conditions. Watch the programme if you don't believe me.

Slow Loris Protected, endangered, and and I nearly forgot venomous.THEY ARE NOT PETS.
Edmond137 4 days ago 52
Absolutely. These animals are not pets and they are been illegally trapped for the pet trade. Better for them to stay in the wild
linscyclist 4 days ago
@Edmond137 how are they venomous? O.O
23WhiteFlag 4 days ago
@23WhiteFlag because in the wild they eat poinsonous animals. they secrete it in there skin and use it as a natural insecticide, amoungst other things. in captivity they are not able to do this
unfuckingavailable 4 days ago
@23WhiteFlag they have a very venomous bite (which can and has been known to kill people) and they also secrete a fairly nasty substance when threatened which when combined with their saliva is also poisonous. Wikipedia's page on venomous animals also gives more info on it f you want the technicalities though!

Very sad that people keep these animals as pets, their called wild animals for a reason. Mankind destroy all the beutiful things in the world,

This has been flagged as spam show
please let's get this video taken down. these beautiful animals belong in the jungle. they are not meant to be house pets, they are ENDANGERED. the sellers take their teeth out and remove their poison glands so they can't even protect themselves if they are ever returned home. For each one that 'looks happy' there must be dozens of others that died a miserable foul wretched death in some filthy cage. Pathetic people that must have exotic pets. This sh*t makes me so ashamed for the human race.

think about it this way: wouldn't it be better for slow loris to go extinct and for humans to get enjoyment out of them rather than leaving them alone and not getting any enjoyment? i mean, what good are they if humans can't entertain themselves with these little guys?
skillcosby88 5 days ago
@skillcosby88 What good are you if all the animals are extinct and cannot entertain themselves with you? You matter as much to nature as any other miserable animal on this planet. You are insignificant, worthless and all that is special about the human race is the fact that we have technology. It is power given to us above any animal on this planet, and a responsibility as well. If we are driving these guys extinct, we deserve to go extinct ourselves.
PsychoGenetiX1 4 days ago
@skillcosby88 So any animal you can't have as a pet is worthless? First off If you kill all wild animals there will be serious consequences for the planet and people and second just because an animal be it a lion a slow loris or a squirrel monkey doesn't make a good pet doesn't mean they are worthless. They are just wild animals that don't make good pets and don't do well in most people's homes/enclosures.
chronic124 4 days ago 3
@skillcosby88 Loris's are an endangered species and should not be kept as pets also they are illegal pets. Instead of tickling them and saying how cute they are we should be saving them!!!!!
Smithers19985 4 days ago 3
@skillcosby88 no, set up sustainable breeding programs if you must have them as pets. The way they are being obtained as pets now is horrible. What gives us the right to take the slow loris away from future generations? just so we can have them as a novelty pet. Its selfish and unfair on this amazing creature.

1crazyrasta 4 days ago
It's cute, but just because it's cute doesn't mean I'm going to get one.I have worked with animals in zoo before I respect conservation immensly. For starters while the pet trade is a big player in the loss of animals habitat destruction is 100 fold. There are people out there torturing cats and dogs now and not looking after 'non- endangered' pets at least this one looks like it is being looked after.

@rtkstyle u r an idiot! These things r endangered! U little prick go rot in a hole, check out a newer movie on slow loris then u will change ur mind ignorant little prick
chrenn 5 days ago
If you want to take them off the endangered species list and improve the conditions in which they are kept, then legalize (and regulate) the ownership and breeding of them. The reason they are treated so badly is because they are traded on the black market which doesn't allow for innovation and humane treatment of animals. You will NEVER stop the inhumane treatment of the Slow Loris while it is illegal. The fact is people want them as pets, and keeping them illegal is hurting more than helping
andrewshooter 5 days ago
@andrewshooter So how are you going to legalize regulate a venomous mammal and you'll also be needing to remove its teeth?
MrCunthooks 4 days ago
@andrewshooter Basic knowledge FAIL. Sl
