Thanks Paul. Red has been playing that banjo for a while, we all like the way he sticks to the melody. He's a fine player and we consider any recording of him priceless. Jim is pretty new to the mandolin (comparatively). That is his brand new "Buckeye" mandolin made by Pete Hart in Ohio.
I've loved this song since the first time I heard it sung by Riley Pucket, a blind singer from the 20's-30's. Your band does it better here than I've ever heard anyone do this song. The banjo player has such superb imagination and taste, and he never strays too far from the melody. The bass and mandolin are also excellent. Impressive audio for an outside recording. Thanks for posting this!
Everybody pay attention, because this is the way bluegrass is supposed to be played!
