Shogun definitely has the talent to beat Chuck. But Liddell is a bad matchup for Shogun. Shogun is an aggresive, sloppy striker who is pretty talented on the ground. Chuck Liddell is a counter-puncher who likes people to try and brawl, has very accurate powerful punches, and takes advantage of sloppy striking on his opponents part. On top of this, Liddell has great takedown defense, very good wrestling, and solid Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I didn't say he's a bad fighter. He's a relentless striker who pushes the pace. But yes, his striking is sloppy. His grappling is much better. This is all coming from someone who thinks he can win the title if his conditioning is good enough.

It's not even just that some fighters have bad days. Styles make fights. Sometimes you see fighters who continually lose to the same opponent, and that opponent continually loses to fighters that in turn lose to the first guy.
I've seen Shogun and Wand spar and while Wand wasn't working him completely he was quite clearly doing better. Shogun has a better ground game though. I think Shogun could beat Wand, and vice versa. They'd never fight though because they're buddy-buddy.

I disagree, I think Shogun has better grappling skills than he does stand up, and he should be damned good because he's been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since he's 6. He IS a sloppy striker. That doesn't necessarily make him a bad striker. A ton of his wins have come by TKO or KO because he's RELENTLESS and pushes the pace. I don't think anyone can argue that he is as technical as a professional boxer with regards to his standup.

I think that most of the pride competitors that make there way to ufc have had poor performance because of the lack or blind eye policy of drug testing in the past there are some obvious exceptions but there is lots missing from the top pride guys ring games rua, and wandi are great examples but then again i hope yall can excuse my redundant raving

dude..it just got conifrmed. shogun had a knee surgery and is recovering right now. that was why he didnt train hard enough for the forrest fight because it might worsen his knee. To quote shogun: "I know about my mistakes in the fight against Forrest, and I will never use this surgery as an excuse for my loss; I have all the responsibility for the bad result. Now I just want to look for the future."

I hope everyone not saying Shogun is over...I mean c'mon hes still in his prime at only 25..he looked out of shape in his UFC debut and didnt adapt to the new rules well..time will tell if he gets the hang of it! that seems true, that took away the advantage of other fighters like crocop and silva. most of the strikers from Pride won their matches from soccer kicks and stomps. taking that away from them in the UFC is not too cool... shogun, and the other fighters will just have to readapt or something...

I'm afraid that Shogun will never get the chance to prove his greatness. It's just a mess with all the former pride fighters' and he hasn't made as big a name for himself as eg wandy. It's all about the money and I'm not sure if there is enough of it in Shogun's ufc debut so its iffy whether i'ts gonna happen or not. In my opinion there's just a ton of paper between Shogun and the ufc lhw belt. An awesome fighter going to a waste.

I kinda agree with You, "Shogun" in my opinion is probably the best 205 pounder in the world, recently his name is coming up more and more, although there might be some paper work drama trying to get this dude into the UFC but I honestly think that it will happen, the MMA world needs rad fighters to draw in new fans and to drive those Pay Per view numbers through the roof and for the potentially huge monetary gains I now it will happen, might take a year or two.
