They're not fat, they're muscle, and have more muscle mass compared to lions, a stronger bite, and a lot more intelligent. Tigers can do a 2 point stance when fighting, (stand on 2 hind legs), while lions can only do a 3 (needs to be on 3 legs) thus, making a tigers swipe more powerful and accurate. Don't give me shit about "research". I've studied this more than you. You'll say "The Tiger was favored throughout history". None of the supposed books that have been quoted are valid and were never widely read or even accepted by the general public. The REAL antique books of Natural Hiistory, several of which I own, such as those of Goldwich, Buffon, Wood, Gould, and Brehm, popular and scientific books that were standard reference for every household all vouch for the Lion as the perfect cat.
I didn't say Lions were perfect. I'm stating the prevailing Scientific opinion at that time as stated in the common references books. When they speak of perfection, they speak about a compact muscular form, and a beautiful mane. It has also been stated in these old bookd that when the Tiger and Lion do fight, sometimes both have been known to perish. Don't try to spin this around.

The tiger holds all the advantages over the lion in a fight, if they should meet. Half the time the fights over in a minute. The other half, slight advantage to the tiger they brawl it out. History point's to the tiger, Books point to the tiger, accounts point to the tiger. The Tiger will more times then not be victorious in a fight over the lion.

First off, tigers are a helluva lot heavier built than a lion. Not to mention a male lion is notoriously lazy, since the only times he has to fight or do much of anything is to defend his territory. I didn't say Lions were perfect. I'm stating the prevailing Scientific opinion at that time as stated in the common references books. When they speak of perfection, they speak about a compact muscular form, and a beautiful mane. It has also been stated in these old bookd that when the Tiger and Lion do fight, sometimes both have been known to perish. Don't try to spin this around.

The tiger holds all the advantages over the lion in a fight, if they should meet. Half the time the fights over in a minute. The other half, slight advantage to the tiger they brawl it out. First off, tigers are a helluva lot heavier built than a lion. Not to mention a male lion is notoriously lazy, since the only times he has to fight or do much of anything is to defend his territory. The female lions do all the hunting. Tigers are mostly independent hunters. Think of it like a pimp fighting an ex convict if you wanna think of something accurate and hilarious.

Elephants are "much" bigger than both lions and tigers, and can lift and carry more.....DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. Size and strength or weight are not always the determining factors. well tigers are definitely bigger and have more power but lions have more aggression and are extremely fearless fighters. So it s a fight by fight bases. lions are fighters (its their job - that's why they have the mane) female lions bring them food. in the wild tigers will be very weary of fighting because if they get injured - they die. they dont have lionesses to hunt for them. a "tiger-fanboy" selecting some pictures to make tigers look better...is, as well as just being kinda sad, irrelevant. people say "tigers can be bigger/heavier" well maybe, depending on the individual - but it would be like a 6ft boxer against a 6ft 2 hairdresser.

@cobraopts7 actually what i meant was, they can't scale trees like other cats or their female counterparts due to the fact their frontal shoulders are so much bigger and heavier than their hind legs, where as other cats have more balanced proportion of size and can climb trees with relative ease, that's why sometimes when male lions and cheetahs or leopards run into each other, the smaller cats will climb the tree and wait for a chance to make an escape, im actually agreeing with you btw

The Leopard has evolved to climb trees for a wider ranging set of reasons that the Tiger.
