  • I own one of these and it's easily Palm's BEST P.D.A. out there, it can do just about everything a laptop computer can do. Websurf, movie playback, games, music, etc. All in your pocket and all without a cell phone contract.

  • I know where a Palm Tx for less than half off retail price.

    message me for more info

    (you'll be glad you did)

  • to me this is not really crap it is just simple but not for the hard core people.

  • palm tx sucks

    believe me

  • Actually, palm tx RULES, I have one, magix, and I also have an IPHONE, I prefer my Palm TX because I can store whatever I want with my SD memory cards. I hate the limitations with the IPHONE.

  • this really isn't so much of a review, as an advertisement.

  • jvlin i hear ya

  • lol having said that, my blackberry bold pisses all over it

  • blackberries suck ever since they copied iphone with the blackberry strom fucking sellouts

  • given that memory is ridiculously cheap now , sd cards etc, I would say the edge goes to the tx as it has built in wifi, the alternative is to use a wifi card which essentially takes out the memory slot for the card.

Katalyzt you make valid points though:)however as you have the wifi card you are restricted. I have a 1gb card in my tx, so in essence it wins hands down for storage etc.

  • crap

  • What is the installed memory of Palm TX and can you expand its memory?

  • Around 120MB memory, and you can expand it.

  • So the went considerably down in memory from the T5, to make room for the WiFi. Hmmmmmmm...

    Katalyzt

  • You could buy more, SD/SDHC Memory is quite cheap now.

  • Yeah, I know... I have quite a few of them just lying around... ;O)

    Katalyzt

  • What are you waiting for? Don't have it, but I want it, go get it ;)

  • If you are talking to me; I already have the T5 with a wifi card, and twice the on-board memory of the TX... So it would be a step backward for me.

    Katalyzt

  • does it have a camara?

  • no .

  • Its kind of funny they said this like we know what they talking bout or this is already a convo

  • i use my palm tx for games and music...

    palm os doom ftw?

  • The device is nice. I have it and it is pretty cool. The UI(user interface) kinda sucks but other than that it is awesome. Although this can play movies and music and pics...it is not that great of a media player.I also have an ipod touch so if you want just a portable media player...go with touch.

That melisa girl is very very sexy

  • all of these features are supported by ASUS P735 pocketPC with 3G or video call.. and the new released version is already a windows mobile 6.0 professional and its processor is 520mhz so its quite faster than other pocket pc and the good it is 3G.

  • i'm just having troubles putting music on it

so.. can you tell me how ?

  • Make sure your music is in the right format, put it on an sd card and play; open with pocket tunes player. Or transfer via bluetooth.

  • Palm TX is excellent if you like an OS prone to crashing. Excellent design poor implementation. Web browser is severley outdated. The only thing good about the TX is DOCs to go. This device is not worth

$350 save up for an Iphone or windows mobile device.

  • First off the TX is $299 and no long term expenses.

Second everybody know that the web browser is crap, just get the Opera mini for FREE.

Third it has wi-fi and bluetooth.

Fourth, the SD cards offer amazing versatility.

So, you are full of crap .....

  • All of these features are supported on the N-810 and it offers FREE video google talk via the built in webcam, google docs, google maps, desktop transparencies and limited PIM software, and built in gps with no new fees.

  • You are right, I was checking the N-810 it is a more modern version.

The N-810 has to be better it is 2 yeaers younger. The TX was released in 2005!!

  • palm is going out of buisness

  • It is so difficult to find a pocket pc without the phone company attached I dont want a new plan just a versitile pda, but it seems they dont exist anymore. I am looking into Nokia's linux tablets.

  • You do have a point here. I felt that the Paml TX is the last model of a generation that is going extinct.

PDA+phones seem to be the norm. It's sad because the PDa could be a Laptop killer

  • I ended up buying a Nokia N-810 and it is excellent. It has 90% of what I expect out of a laptop. I have a youtube video of the performance of this device on my page. It streams youtube, plays movies supports skypecalls and surfs wirelesly with a mozzila based browser. And you can also run palm os in a vr machine.

  • Good, thanks to you I googled N-810 on Youtube.

It is an impressive PDA, it comes with a camera an the screen in bigger than the TX and a keyboard.

  • The only device that come close might be the ipod touch, but thats more of an mp3 player than computer the N-810 is more of a laptop that can play mp3s if you want the versatillity of the n-810 withouth the $479 price tag you can also check the n-800

  • Does anyone know if you can download things like google talk, skype and yahoo im on it? Thanks

  • Skype only works for Windows Mobile officially, you can't download files as far as I'm aware. I don't know if you can have Yahoo/MSN on PalmOS either. This handheld is good, but PocketPC has more value´, I'm getting a iPaq HX2490 which is 30 bucks more expensive and 40% faster with a more RAM and a OS that works for basicly everything.

  • I miss the LifeDrive, I know it was fragile, but they should have never stopped making it. I missed it, and now I have to find a used one.

  • IT'S NOT A PHONE!!! YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR INTERNET/E-MAIL!!! YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY MONTHLY CHARGES YOU BUY IT AND YOU'RE DONE. It's a Palm!

  • Thank you... lol, yeah it uses WI-Fi thats free... same as you pay for normal net... all you have to do is have a wireless router... nothing special... that or find a hot spot.

  • ya but you prolly have to buy the internet and stuff to use email.

  • ITS NOT A Phone like he said, its an actual real un-bastardized PDA. Smart phones with there horrible appearance nearly useless buttons and small screens are an abomination, when they started they where just normal PDA's with cellular modems, now, they are more phone than anything, and they are becoming more and more useless... They are somehow devolving.

  • I agree, it should not be here. Plus where is the phone? No phone makes it pointless. Just buy another device with Wi-Fi like an HTC phone. Palm had something once but long lost it when they would not listen to the pleas by customers who asked for Wi-fi drivers for the Treo 600, 650, 680 & 700p. All we got were empty promises. & they are still promising its coming in feature devices.. Sorry Palm you had your chance. I'm done.

  • It's not always pointless. Im in nursing and need it for work. We can't use smartphones sadly.

  • Negative. I damn sure don't want to drop or lose my phone one day AND loose my whole personal database with personal account info, plus my mp3 and video player and other personal data. Hell no do I want to pay a subscription just to have a PIM. No way, keep the phone separate thank you, then I can change phones plans or carriers and my Palm still works. Besides, this amazing device is $299. You wanna pay $399 for that ugly heavy Treo crap? All your eggs are in one basket, GIGO!

  • You won't loose your data as long as you do a hot sync prior to its destruction. All your data will continue to be on your pc. Phone numbers, documents, & even your applications. All you need to do is buy another Palm device and hot sync it over.

  • Ill never buy a phone that does not use a SIM card because you can't unlock them like you can the Treo. However if tampering with Treos is not your thing a person can choose to just buy an unlocked one direct from palm or pick one up on EBay really cheap.

BTW I'm typing this using an unlocked Cingular Treo 650 in Switzerland now.

  • Ah! This is good info, TY. I don't know much about the unlocking thing - I always pick the smallest phones cuz I don't wanna feel it on my belt, so it's always something basic and light. The whole eggs-in-one-basket thing still bugs me, but you make some good points I'll consider next time around.

    TTFN!

  • You'll get over the size when you stop thinking of it as a phone. The reality is a Treo is not a smart phone. It's more or less a pocket pc (or "PDA" if you like) that just happens to have a phone. It reacts very much like a windows pc does when you install telephony hardware & software. If you want a good multi media phone get a Sony Ericsson but if you want an easy to use Pocket PC get a Treo. It will take you a sec to learn but it's worth it.
