  • This was one of the first bboys vids I ever saw, and this is what got me into breaking.

  • i im best on head spin i im 8 in world

  • Wow amazing battle!!!

  • 1:41 to 1:43 so FRESH

Kenny Dope Gonzalez - Klap Your Hands

  • love this vid old skool!!!

  • I remember watching this before there was youtube... It took me the entire day to download.

  • what is the name of the first song?

  • i was there!!! this was at the church in Long Beach on 5th and pacific!!!

  • Why do toprock and footwork look SO clean and fucking beastly in old school bboys. The audience knows what to cheer for too and doesn't just go "woooo" at every power move they see.

  • @BreatheCreativity people forgot about the dance aspect

  • Man, I'm one of the few people who actually went looking for this battle on VHS, back in the day. It was an event called Breakmania, organised by Zulu Gremlin, as a qualification battle for the 1999 Pro-Am in Miami, but for some reason, when I bought the tape, this battle had been left off the tape!!! I think it may have had something to do with Ivan and Iron Monkey turning up late for the battle, because I think the ovrall winner was Stuntman, from Style Elements.

  • Is this an old school battle?

  • @Bankzabboy

    1999

  • The Bruce Deeuoukayeey Dominating Force

  • second song ??

  • @vanderwyk9999 i think youre looking for its just begun from the jimmy castor bunch or set it off from big daddy kane

  • iron monkeywas always underrated to me..I mean..he's known and has respect...but I think he deserved more.. Ivan's energy has no bounds. In all my years...even in gymnastics when I was young...I have never seen his like. He has got to be the most high jumping acrobatic mf that has ever walked the face of this earth

  • nicer battle...ivan and iron monkey.. 2 great bboys....name of the beat at 2:17 ??

  • @jOhNNyGiOv was up bro...soho - hot....thats the song...i think i was deejaying this!!!

  • 0:54 LOOL WTTFF!!? LOOOL!!

  • @BboyD0mo TRIPLE HALO!!! AWESUME!

  • probly the first bboy battle i've ever seen. still the dopest.

  • that ivan dude, gots alot of energy

  • stylelements.

  • OLD SKOOL ROCKZ!

  • Is ivan the azn one?

  • IVAN SMOKED IRON MONKEY

  • @WIQTOR13 Ivan has been breaking longer and Iron Monkey fully says that Ivan was his inspiration.

  • I remember hanging out Iron Monkey in the club asking him how to do 90's. lol.

  • damn this was 11 years ago...

  • @Jahrass7

YEp and I remember seeing it when it was brand new.

  • which is ivan?..

  • @razerfanj

The spanish kin in the red pants.

  • Amazing

  • man old school bboys will always be the best

  • @emofilipino312

    yea man, theyr so real!

  • @emofilipino312 you mean "TRUE-SCHOOL" not old school, I say that because these guys do all the elements breakin, they toprock(or uprock if your on the west cost) footwork, then in to a power move and then freeze. What I'm saying is that B-boys like Ivan, crazylegs, ken swift, Mr. wiggles they all feel the music and move accordingly and they all had style. These guys became the best because they dance the way the breakin was originally created, by doing all the elements not just power moves.

  • @emofilipino312 this is way past old school...have a look at beat street movie rock steady vs NYC breakers, thats old school. But BBoy Ivan is the tops!!!

  • Comment removed

  • OLD SCHOOL BBOYS

  • That was tight yo I mean both had great moves but Ivan was definitely gettin in that a whole. No disrespect got me beat home dog.

  • damn!

it looks like this battle is in fast forward but it's not.

  • Damn, Ivan got so much energy!!! when was that??? thx for the post. PeAcE.

  • what is name song? minute 2:22 please

  • @rockotas I believe its hot music - soho

  • @bboymonk3y ...thanks

  • dope battle. sucks cam fucked up at monkey's badass part

  • damn its in 1999. freaking 10 years ago and their killing it

  • Damn Ivan's so smooth. His toprock is the shit.

  • what was that music?

  • Nice battle.

  • I never realized how much iron monkey used to crash against crumbs and ivan. But not anymore he's got his shit on lock.

  • he only appeared to crash twice in this and they don't look like crashes, slip-ups maybe.

  • Flying Tortillas!!!!

  • what crew is ivan on?

  • Thats my boy!!!! Ivan is not even trying. Ive seen him go all out in person. I played in a band for ivan a few years ago.He is a humble dude....Much respect to you ivan.

  • soho- hot music

  • soho - hot music

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG?!?!?

  • LOLOL i wanna see ivans CC

  • Yeah this video is old, I think even saw it in 2002 already and it was older than that. But anyway, this is why i think Ivan fucking was awesome. Iron Monkey was helluva good already but Ivan was just on a higher level that time. I would say definitely Ivan was Top three best bboy at that time world wide (but to be fair, there were less really awesome bboys compared to today where there are a LOT more)

  • IVAN! raped

  • dam ivan killin it!! super clean tops an floor boogie

  • ehy guys the first song please!!!! :) breakdance 4life

  • whats the 2nd beat...that shits sick im swaein as i speak

  • name of the first song?

  • Klap your hands - Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez

  • floor royalty crew..search us..add us..be like us..if u want to try...

  • I met iron monkeys brother - ne one know where he's from?

  • Iron Monkey is from the StyleElements crew, where also Crumbs from, Remind, and Reveal. I think their crew is from Texas, but not sure.

  • okay - kinda makes sense cuz I'm in Houston now - used to come down to housotn when I stayed in OK - blurry times - lol

  • Um, Iron Monkey is from Renegages.

  • Style Elements Crew is from Stockton/Modesto California

  • ya its cali lol close though =)

  • used to watch this every day back in high school..where's the time gone?

  • man this shit is old school.sick to see it again

  • iron monkey is wack wen it comes to a pose at the end, *stand up look down.*

  • Why are you speaking in present tense, this was from a decade ago.

  • Spoken Word.

  • do u even know wat decade means , if u dont it means 10 years ago , and this video was only 3 years ago and ur saying decade ago -_-'

  • Dude, this battle was from about 1998-1999.

And it's 2009 now, that's nine to ten years. This video was not from 2006, because I used to watch this on napster back when I was in middle or high school, and I'm 24 now.

  • The youtube user coudntpickname who uploaded this video, it says he uploaded it in 2006, but the video itself is from ten years ago homie. This is an old video that the user just uploaded a couple years ago, but the actual video took place ten years ago.

  • If I decided to upload a video of myself from five years ago, the youtube text will say, I uploaded it today, 2009. Just because I upload it today, does it mean the video was filmed today? No, the video would still be from five years ago.

    Idiot.

  • Next time don't talk to someone like they're stupid if you have no logical capabilities. Stupid.

  • yeah i used to watch it also around 2004 and 2005...and i know its age is longer than the time i saw it..from its video quality and how the people looks like in the video ..

  • whats this song name ?..... anyone ?

  • 3:23 no cure for that sickness

  • i remember watching this after downloading it on kazaa like 5 years back.

  • @DanielKeithMorrison yoooooooo!!! for real, i was like 13 when i downloaded this video... this shit is famous lol

  • @Breaknskillz81 yeah like word i seen this in 05 04

  • @DanielKeithMorrison

hahahahah!!!!! yeah bro the golden days,, back in like 02 i had like 5 clips, this one one of em, took like a whole weekend to download this thing with dial up.. hahah.. good times.. kazaa, lol

  • This is an awsome video to see an example of old school vs a newer school. Ivan with that sick bronx style. Lucky Iron monkey. Its an honor to bust with some of the old school greats...

  • I remember watching this on video. This is some old school Ivan.

  • not sure if anyone has noticed but the older bboy battles are alot shorter then the current bboy battles i wonder why this is ? is it cause more bboys these days want to put more into each set or maybe it was just freestyled off the top most of the time back then.. what use think ? peace.

  • which one is ivan and which one is iron monkey?

  • left : iron monkey

    right: ivan

  • dang there sets are so short...

  • that's what old school was like!

  • vhs was what old school was like.

  • ivan fuckin destroyed iron monkey

  • this is the first battle i ever watch!! HEH

  • the first battle i ever watched.

  • What if the actual bboy G from NON crew wanted to make an account on youtube but found out he couldnt use his own name bcz it was taken?

  • then he best deal with it like in every other situation where you sign up for an account and the name is taken. your comment is retarded. my name is greg, so bboy g isn't really out of the question. peace.

  • whats the name of the last track ?

  • hot music - soho

  • How about....Bboy Ivan Vs Bboy Lilou ... yeah..!!

  • Ivan didn't even use his signature mills and still owned him.

  • Ah man i remember watching this clip, but it never spurred me to trying out bboying, i was like 13 when i saw this clip....man i wish i started back then...

  • what is the song 2:18

  • song at 2:18 is hot music by soho

  • I love this joint Iron Monkey does where he polishes the ground with his shirt right, then he get's up and pretends to get ready to rock then "Slips" - That was just off the chain. Between 3:30 and 3:40. A little thing, but slick lol. I will still say this though, Ivan had more moves and more energy and remained solid through and through - Which is why dude takes this battle EASY.

  • when iron monkey slips onto his shoulder trying head spin, is he meant to do that? he looked a bit dazed??

  • yea he was. but he messes it up because thats all he can come up with.

  • yes, it's one of his moves. And this was an old clip, if you watch one from maybe around 2001, he has the move down a lot better.

  • the first tune is a classic mix by (i'll kick myself when i remember who, maybe one of big apple productions 12's) but it's mixing the guitar break of James Browns 'get up,get into it,get involved', the 'watch me now' and 'peace will come' bits from jimmy castor bunch 'it's just begun' and the beat from james Browns 'give it up turn it loose'

i am the keeper of the sacred knowledge and i have spoken .....

  • if anyone knows the name of the first song, particularly the beat, i would really appriciate it if you let me know.

  • this vid is ill!

btw, whats that song on the beginning? my father used to scratch with this but i never knew the title :\.

  • nice

  • Ivan killed it. Proper b-boy style. DANCING with finesse and all the righteous angles and flare. The true test of a breaker is in his toprock and footwork. You can learn to do all all the power moves and weird plants / freezes - but style is something you either have or don't. Iron Monkey does some impressive moves, but when he's upright he has no style - he's just filling in time til he goes down to the floor. But Ivan kept it fresh.

  • BULLSHIT, i agree Ivan took it, but iron monkey's character and body language has been copied and copied over and ove rby bboys, so you have pretty narrow view on style..i bet if you even dance you try to look like ken swift

  • yea im wit u. iron monkey is great and everything but he didnt keep his shit like ivan.

  • Ivan has so much style!

  • this was a friendly battle- they werent at each others throat

  • i think the video is a lil bit fast forwarded

  • Iron Monkey has better footwork, Ivan has the power moves ;D

  • you mean Ivan has better footwork! the black dude is (iron monkey)

  • holy shit dis nigga ivan is quick, but dat otha dude is nice 2

  • why tha white dudes gets so cocky and arrogant once they accomplish something?

  • no dats his bboy attitude. Hes raw and fierce and so are a lot of other bboys.

  • That "white dude" isn't even white, he's latin, and he's not being arrogant, he's being confident, a big part of bboying as a dance. You could do the most amazing moves, but if you look unconfident, it takes away from the essence of the dance.

  • true.

  • I got to slap hands with ivan and say what up in Modesto when he came back to town for the last Motown Boogie Down that came through, i forget what number it was....shit was iLL as fuck though, a Living Legend.

  • yo does anyone no the name of the last song at about 6.10? pz

  • what is bboy ivan doing, like a 36 step?!?! haha dayumm!

  • man ivan looks like hes in fast foward

  • 2:34 - My Jaw dropped the first time I saw this in '99.

  • IVAN not only is he fast and explosive He has incorporated oldschool moves with the newones and hes got a lot of style and lots of moves good variations!

  • love how they respect each other and still battle

looks like they had fun doing it too

    amazing bboys

  • ivan's toprock is so siiick

  • fuckin short

  • song list please

  • idk bout the 1st song.

but the 2nd song is "superstar" by k-os

  • actually its

    soho - hot music

  • "Hot Music" from Soho, is the instrumental version, and "Superstar" isnt

  • surry but ivan made iorn monkey look like a chump

  • Ivan won

It seemed like Iron Monkey didn't know how to closeout. It was like he just kinda fell off at the end.

  • This is the first battle video I watched since I started, years ago...and it's still fresh! Two greats goin' at it...Ivan is a machine.
