Get mortar when you get to the new parts of land, scout out the area, looking for a place to blow, try and guess the distance, if you're not sure, fire a test round, the enemy's will react to the test shot so make it count, quickly switch to explosive rounds with the Reload key, R on PC keyboard, and X on the 360 controller. Enjoy fireworks.

this game is awesome , and represents guerrilla warfare perfectly, you can set an IED on the road and ambush convoys, you can stage sniper and rocket attacks then flee, you can also bomb the fuck out the cease fire zone.. pure terrorist game , LOVE IT, ambush a convoy with a rocket, Blow up the rest with an IED while they flee, then launch mortars and indirect machine gin fire, PURE terrorist fun, FUCKIN best adventure FPS by far, i think its time for a sequel

@rbrtostone The yellow gas is a test round. It's what you get when you use primary fire. You get infinite test rounds which help you figure out the proper range to your target. Then you can use one of your (limited) explosive rounds to actually attack the target.

<3 Dragunov :) as-50 is for noobs, dragunov is for the skilled: with a Dragunov a skilled sniper kills 7-10 guys per magazine, but with the as50 you only get 4-5 or somthing. so if your skilld like me then you would fint the dragunov more atractive. ;-P

i love this game but it's annoying that it takes 5 bullets to the chest to kill enemies, they're almost as tough as you, even on the easy difficulty settings.

ok your mortar skill is very good but you should practice on sniping and you should get the AS50 it's a very strong rifle

Yes, you have to get far enough in the main story to get the mortar. When you get to the second map you'll eventually get it.

sry but farcry sucks!i bought it a couple weeks ago and i am bored already!wtf?there s a patent or what?every mission is the same!drive 1000km to a destination,kill target or something else(destroy something usually)and return to town to get another mission!!!why???i wasted 70euros for nothing!farcry1 was sooooooo much better..i was disappointed...nice graphics,visuals and weapons but gameplay...5 out of 10

It did get a little repetitive at times.. but for some reason I just really enjoyed the missions. I think it was because you could always attack in a different way. If you're bored with FC2 you're not trying hard enough. Try being sneaky, try using all explosives, try using all assault rifles, etc.

Also, why did you have to pay 70 euros for it?? I paid $45 USD which is only 35 euros.

the price here is 70 euros for each game(69,90 to be honest but...u get the point).so u understand it is a lot of money to buy a game/thats why i make such i big deal about it.maybe now that i havent played fc2 for a couple of months i will give it a chance...or not!maybe i will buy resistance 2....or little big planet...ehmmm....aaa!so many choices and so little money.... :(

i ve tried that a 100 times but still the connection is always awfull(not my problem,i have a decent modem connection).one time i reached lv5 or 6 i believe and the over day once i opened the online menu i was only lv1!again!and i am not mistaken about the ranked matches and the notranked ones...yes i know...you can get 2 lv ups...

The whistle is in the game, but you only hear it if you're particularly close the round coming down. Notice that the enemies can hear it and try to take cover.

You can carry the mortar around with you, it takes up the "special weapons" slot, so you have to decide when it makes sense to carry it instead of an RPG or flamethrower or other special weapons.

Just on the ground. I think if you were to actually hold a mortar when it fired it would get blasted right out of your hands.

Once you get your mortar out hit reload. You'll see a shell with red paint on it instead of the usual yellow. You get infinite yellow (smoke) bombs. I guess the idea is to calibrate your shot before using one of your few real ones, but it doesn't really seem practical. One more tip.. to fire quickly fire once, reload twice, and fire again. You can get a few in the air at once like that.
