The best I have ever heard...! Tommy is a genius with a guitar!... Talent just oozes out of him...! Always smiling, great stage presence, just an absolute joy to watch...!
yeah koezoazdk I think you are quite wrong. Tommy loves to entertain. He has made great music and is also a great person. anyone who has seen him live can tell what a warm human he is. That is something that comes across to a degree on video but nowhere near as much as it does when you see him live.
...dear koezoazdk.,its time for your to stop and think now...you are going into the realms of fantasy this time...and your making up little fairytales again...you will get better...you just need a few more doses of tommy.
He knows his instrument well, and is a real vitruoso. He probably knows music quite well, too. However, I think he does not love neither his guitar, nor music, Really. Has he composed anything ? Maybe he has, but still his intent is not to make music progress. His intent is to just show off. He will be forgotten as soon as his concerts will come to an end. RIP, Tommy, you're a good guitarist, but that's all.
@koezoazdk wow one of thee most retarded comments ive seen regarding Tommy. How can you say someone with such ability and talent, and arranging skills will be forgotten? He is a CGP. He WILL be remembered and WAY more than a good guitarist.. to say the least.
I absolutely love this!!! Not only is the song SO beautiful, but Tommy plays it with such ease and obvious enjoyment, that it is a joy to watch! Thank you for posting!
Yup! But to play this as fluent as Tommy, you need really awesome skills! When I try playing it, theres no Swing, you know what I mean?...It's not living...thats really depressing!
i told my sister about this video and mentioned tommy emmanuel played it. "he is pretty good, isnt he?", she said. pretty good? he is bloody awesome. i have lost count how many times i have watched this. and others.
THis guy can play the same song a thousand times and it ends up fresh and exciting every single time. What an amazing musician. Yes, buying any of Tommy's recordings is money well spent. Buying them all is a great investment. I own his tutorial DVDs as well. Having him explain what he's doing is like chatting with him. Even if you don't play it's fun learning the inside scoop.
@frombaerum If you look at tommy performing in seoul at the end of windy and warm he's soloing and transitioning into classical gas. There is a mistake. He does make them but he covers them over so well. Being able to cover a mistake is a skill in it's self. I'm going to see Tommy on wednesday and I can't wait. He's my fave guitarist at the mo.
@frombaerum He actually does make a mistake, though very small. At 2:16, he 'eases into' one of notes instead of hitting it right on. It's slight, but you'll hear it if you listen for it.
@frombaerum And he did :) There's a clip on youtube with TE playing- he hit the wrong fret (he was playing with capo) and make percussion sound instead of natural harmonics. Unfortunatelly I can't find this at the moment

Judging by the huge buzz coming out of Tommy's guitar I think his guitar's action is extremaly low - I'd say something about 1,5-1.8mm.
roygift 7 months ago
@roygift
He plays a flat fingerboard with no relief according to an interview in acoustic guitar a few months ago.
Action must be fairly low.
