Hi James, We know that there are only tree conditionals the 1st , 2nd, and 3rd, but I have found a website which mention the following clasification for conditionals: Present real conditional, Present unreal conditional, Past real conditional, Past unreal conditional, Future real conditional, Future unreal conditional, (page:englishpage) So I would like you explain us whether that kind of clasification is correct or not and how it is related with the 1st-2nd-3rd conditionals. thanks
if I'd to choose .. it would be this guy ! Methinks equally correct sentence. Some ppl say that the use of " if i was " instead of " if i were" would be equally acceptable , others claim that " If i were ' is the only one proper form when "conditional in the past "sentences. How does it work ?
I need your help. I can't understand the meaning of the sentence:"If E were to study, he would be a good student". I mean the first clause. Im wondering if I can say:"If E studied, he would be a good student". I can't understand what it means "If E were to study". Could you help me please?
@maritkaaaaaaaaaa 'If he were to study" is a kind of aukward sentence but as the teacher mentioned u've to use "were" as a 2b verb along with if and would..Thnk yew
@maddimad16 hello :) thanx 4 the reply, I got it now, I was thought wrongly that "were" in the second cond. corresponds only to the first person "I" but now I know what it's all about:) take care!!
Great job. I have had a confusion about the usage of would before. it is clear. Thank you so so much. you are brilliant and great person. I apprecite you

If __ were to...
Is used to emphasize that something is very unlikely or unthinkably horrible.
If she were to be rich, she would be horribly obnoxious.

can we say
If he concentrate more in class, he would get good grades
or is it always necessary to say WERE in a sentence that has If and Would ?
sunlightfightingg 2 years ago
This is more advanced, but if you say...
If he concentrate(d) more in class, he would get a (better) grad(e)
But better to say
If he concentrate(s) more in class, he (will) get a (better) grade
Avoid were unless it's something that is not going to happen.
