Thanks, 1paulamanthei1 He is a Dutch Warmblood by Flemmingh. I sold him to a wonderful home with a woman in New York, and he does winters in Florida. He has a good life!
this is a beautiful creature. the two of you are lovely working pair. May I ask his breeding? The only advice/commentary you should listen to is that between you and your trainer. It's called training for a reason.
@ChicagoJazz10 Well actually no the horse is not being worked perfectly. The horse is often poll low and or behind the vertical. The rider is riding from front to back instead of from back to front. If the rider were to put her leg on and ask the horse to engage it's hind end. That would allow the horse to take it's weight to it's haunches. When the horse is in correct balance it can slow down and reach forward to the bridle.
Looks behind the vertical, tight upper crest, and downhill. Lighter hands and seat would help your horse; when you reward him with a pat, that puts more weight on his front end and makes it even harder for him to move correctly.
shouldn't be holding him up with the hand anyway--a pat shouldn't matter in keeping the horse uphill. simply uncurling the hand and bringing the elbows back to your side, especially the inside hand when tracking right, should loosen him up. then you can pat:)
i have the same issue, btw. it is a hard habit to break.
I've just read some of the rubbish comments here... I have to say, you ride with soft aids and he's a lovely horse. And I always give a quick touch on the neck for something done well. It's so important to let the horse know that he's done good.

Nice video. Your horse is real soft and round. Your position is really good and your hands.
