@Mauser91 -- Beethoven was Schopenhauer's favorite composer, so I'd recommend his works, specifically his overtures, the odd-numbered symphonies, and the late string quartets. Although Wagner adored Schopenhauer and grounded his music on Schopenhauer's philosophy, Schopenhauer actually despised Wagner and thought he knew nothing of music. In the end, though, the best soundtrack for reading Schopenhauer remains silence.
Schopenhauer was a great philosopher because he was able to talk about life's daily aspects in addition to philosophy itself; to efficiently talk about one dimension, a person must be versed with the other.
Considered seriously, Schopenhauer's life was something of a perpetual tragedy. I remember reading a biography of him, and after I closed the book the whole thing just hit me. This man suffered horribly for almost all his days. He was so bitter and so retracted that one could scarcely discern a human being.
And yet, somehow he was able to silence his horrid experiences with people, and talk of the most benevolent compassion I have ever heard of. Unreal
Excellent video! Schopenhauer has been a great, yet disquieting inspiration to me over the past few years and his thoughts on music are quite extraordinary and novel. One other great quote:
"Music is the answer to the mystery of life. It is the most profound of all the arts; it expresses the deepest thoughts of life and being; a simple language which nonetheless cannot be translated."
i just love the guy. and the music. Artur is like a father to me, in a way. Thanks for the music

@Mauser91 Pink Floyd?
Silence is also a good possibility but if you want to get inspired I can advise you something atmospherical. ;)

Very good! A fitting piece for one of the most underrated and oft ignored philosophers, but still one of the greatest.
Cheers, and thanks!

Rare praise for a man who seldom got any.
