  • Thanks very much for the tutorial, but it would have been most useful if you had indicated which screw went in which hole. There are several size of screws and alas the service manual lacks the screw scheme. I had to find it out by trial and error, and it was a bit annoying. Nice vid though. Thanks again.

  • my power jack needs replacing, how easy is it to remove?

  • Would this laptop boot up with just the motherboard + the power button board attached to it when plugged in to the charger? Without the monitor, the media buttons, keyboard/touchpad, bluetooth, wifi and cdrom it should by logic at least turn on the leds on the power button... But I wasn't able to get any electrical activity from it. Although it could be because of how I attached the power button board to the motherboard; I thought I should ask if it needs anything else to boot.

  • LAPTOP KUTNAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TUERTINTARANTINO Yeah, faulty motherboard or DC socket. Have em replaced at PC City

  • definitely video problem

  • молодец

  • my 5920g is broken 2.

    motherboard is broken.

i send it to acer. to repair it it will cost 350 euros

i don't get a beep while booting so ur motherboard isn't broken i think it's the ram or cpu, you can google the kinda beep you get. the beep is a code. for example 1 beep could be broken cpu and a repeating beep is broken ram.

  • 18 Days after my 2 yr warranty was over, my graphics card broke. GG €180. I'll never buy anything of Acer anymore, nothing but trouble with this laptop.

  • @venlosemafia

yep me2 only trouble with my 5920g it broke 5 times an this time it's the last.

  • Just update your BIOS from the acer main website.

  • 1 Long, then 2 Short Beeps: Video error

Explanation: The BIOS is unable to access the video system in order to write any error messages to the screen.

Diagnosis: This is usually caused by a problem with the video card, or the memory on the video card. It can also be a motherboard issue.

    Recommendation:

    Troubleshoot the video card.

If the video card is not at fault, troubleshoot the motherboard.

  • no fresh Thermal grease?

  • Just out the gpu in the oven for couple of minutes, it worked for me. :)

  • Looks like you have the wireless network card wires the wrong way round.

Have the same laptop but my black and white wire are opposite to yours.

    Hope you got it fixed

  • I have a laptop acer 5920 serie and I have to change the CMOS battery. Can you tell me where is it ?

  • @benjiduloft did he help you already?

I can. I had to do the same thing:)

  • grazie mille!!!

    mi hai aiutati moltissimo

    =

    thanks a lot!

    you helped me a lot

  • DAMN YOURE GOOD!!!

  • Allow me to ask you few questions about this video of yours.

What device is that? The one you are plugging into the audio jack.

Is each of the screw have the same shape and size with the rest?

And very nice music background. It fits the mood in the vid.

  • i had the same problem i din't have warranty either.

i did sent it to acer and they did repair it at no cost.

  • @HenkSpankK Wait, without warranty? As in you called, they took it and repaired it for free, EVEN though you didn't have a warranty? There may be hope for me yet.

That card below the fan is the GPU, right?

  • @Pulse120

yes i went to the shop were i bought the laptop, i told them it was broken and i didn't have warranty anymore. they said "we can try to send it" so i said yes. they called acer and send the laptop to them. i took about 2 months. i thought they would never repair it but they did and for free. my warranty ended a long time ago. (i did send it with it's original parts)

i think you can try to call acer and tell them. if they don't ask about warranty don't say you don't have it anymore.

  • @Pulse120

oh and one thing i'd like to add is that the problem why i send the laptop was a broken cable which seems to occur more often.

i hope the motherboard isn't broken because i think they won't have it in stock or they're gonna ask money for the replaced parts

and yes the card below the fan is the gpu

  • RAM OR CPU is down

  • I think you forgot to put some thermal paste on your CPU when u putted the pc together

  • All that assembly and then you forget where the ON button is?? :P

Just kidding man, awesome vid. I have a 5920g that I can't game with anymore b/c the 8600M GT hits around 88°C and either the application crashes or the computer hangs :/. These Acers run HOT.

Then again I've been using it as my desktop replacement connected to a 25" monitor, using it 8 hours a day for 3 years and it's still going so can't complain too much.

  • it imperative replace your screen

  • Thanks, this really helped me out!

  • thanks for this instruction =)

  • It would be funny if you did all that, only to realise that you'd forgotten to press 'record' on the camera :DD

  • hey try this /watch?v=3MGvJCMQFis&feature=related

  • That's sad you couldnt repair poor machine

  • My laptop's damn complicated i removed all the screws and am still unable to remove the keyboard n all , it's a 5935g , please help ?

  • 3 bip; replace your memorie carde

  • this is a simple beeper connected to ear speaker jack?

  • Looks like one of the Grafikcard is brocken or not supported be the bios.

  • Who would have thought of assembling a computer back would be entertaining? Cool vid bro! :DD

  • Did you get sorted with this?

  • You are missing a few screws there, I suggest figuring out where they all go will be wiser.

perhaps you put in the broken video card, did you try the other one? your thermalpad for the GPU core is not in a very good shape, you might need to get that replaced.

  • The heat remelts the solder connections in the card, repairing microfissures that three years of heating and cooling your card while you used it caused.

  • You must to try the oven trick. Only the video card fails in your laptop. You must to put your video card in the oven for 10 min. at 180º C. That will fix your problem:) I had the same problem:)

  • What's the song Bro? Please Reply, I Love you Videos.

  • you are nicely organized. good to see

  • @ventureelect Thanks

  • @HiTechExpress,

Did you get sorted with this?

  • HiTechExpress: Thanks for spending the time to make this video. My daughter and son each have this model 5920. My son's motherboard got fried so we lost faith in Acer's and bought him an HP. I now had a spare 5920 for parts for my daughter. Her Webcam wasn't working so, THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO, I was able to swap displays with the spare and it is working just fine! Your video was perfect! Many thanks to you!!

  • I did the same thing before , and i had the same problem .

I reinstalled the ram memories then it worked correctly .

maybe you have the same problem that you didn't install the ram or the vga card correctly .

And thank you a lot for this video ;)

  • Plz help I have the same. when I turn it ON. The screen goes blurt turning to dark black color, I can see nothink (black screen). Is it from the (gpu)? I did opened and the gpu seems ok. Inverter? I can see in the begining sort of background screen the trims black . Did tried fn+f6. Nothing.

    Any help guys?

  • I meant "didn´t" boot !

  • the only time mine did boot was the ram

and the thermalpad on the gpu is asking for failure !

mine is two years and still going strong with ram upgrade and cpu and a overclocked 8600M GT ;)

  • Mine to, but my screen often Flickers/flashes.

Someone said it was the GPU failing, can someone confirm this or give me other helfpull info?

Oh and my screen only flashes whit newer drivers.

  • @gielfransen mother board is broken

  • @WePoopHere that sucks, i bet it happened at a lan party 1 year ago, the laptop got so hot that you could barely touch the keyboard.

  • can you tell me the type of the CMOS battery by any chance?

    plz help me

  • It's the code for a malfunctional videocard

  • i think ur problem is the ram ....

  • did you change the mxm II graphic card as well??

  • Try to repair or buy a new CMOS battery if you want to fix the problem

  • i have thesame laptop and omg

    the cooling is so crappy

small heatsink and 2 much heat

  • get the later Bios, it fixes overheating. not by enlarging the heat sink, but by letting the cooling on even when your not doing anything. Before i did that it goed On , off, on off.

  • i have new bios it isnt fixed

  • the screen flickers sometimes its not a bad problem but its annoying sometimes the cooling is fixed now altho today the fan suddently stopped for 1 sec and then went again S:

The screen flicker thing is the only thing thats not good now when thats fixed its all good D:

  • ill try 2 make a video later showing it

  • Did you not think to use some sort of anti static protection? Also why didn't you redo the heat sinks with new themal paste.

Look up what 3 bleeps mean.

From Hp side of things it usally means replace CPU and MB!

  • WHat if you just re-install WIndows? if that isnt working try downloading the Free WIndows 7 Beta and install that. it could also be a OS or BIOS error.

  • i have that same laptop

  • My computar was Hs i have the same problem, Ass say: motherboard and grafics card was changed

  • you also cannot bring it back to the shop where u bought it ?

  • ok, remove the ac cable and the battery, then hold the powerbutton for 30 sec. then insert the ac cable and press the powerbutton, if that doesnt work try another gpu or send the laptop back to acer

    gd lck =)

  • Thanks but I already tried and didn't work and there is no warranty so I don't think I can send it to Acer.
