Thugs are easy to kill period. There is no need for any method.

2- Hit with scorch or phoenix or hot rod mod weapon

3- Wait 5 seconds and he is killed.

Long time way without loosing any health. I just move back in-till they turn around, they wont follow you and are to slow. So you can move back enough that they will turn their back on you. As you get in range the make a arggg sound and are about to turn around. But you can get a hit in (only one) and back off again and throw a few knives or whatever. But you can machete them, and get their arms off in two hits if your good. And then he only has headbutt, and you can get around that easier.

Anyway, Logan makes it very easy to kill thugs. Drink some alcohol for the 60% damage buff, then throw all this knives/machetes/whatever at the Thugs head. At low-levels it will almost be dead after that, at higher levels (once Logan gets some more skills making his throwing more lethal) it WILL be dead. No melee at all, thug's dead in seconds. And no durability loss.

Hold the left stick up a bit and you can get the throws to hit the head, regardless of the auto-target showing on the chest. And yes, it does do more damage that way.

How to kill a Thug:

1. Shotgun. If not,

2. Rage. If not,

3. Explosive. If not,

4. Long 2H weapon that outranges him. If not,

5. Skip it. There's no point, really.

(This assumes you don't have a colored skull, but those are just designed to be overpowered lol)

1. Have the 30% chance to knock an enemy down with blunts

2. Begin pummeling the thug, electric weapon mods welcome

3a. When/If the thug falls over, jump on his head. End Story.

3b. When/If he is being shocked, continue to pummel him excessively.

Besides the fact that while this would work on one lone thug zombie, in the later parts of the game, zombies are constantly running at you out of nowhere and busting up what you were doing, sometimes in groups of 3 - 4. And if all of your weapons are still stuck in the thug and you haven't retrieved them yet, you're going to have to juggle getting them out while fending off the zombie (zombies) that are trying to kill you. Not a good method.

I don't really find this as a very good method of killing thugs. It may work, but it has a terrible downside. Like you said, if you die while your weapons are still stuck in a thug, then they won't be there when you respawn. And I'm actually in the later part of the game you're referring to. I have several modified weapons that take about 1,000$ or more to repair fully and I repair them all the time and still come away with several thousand left over.

@BlackKanano Yeah, well actually I think now when you die, your weapons will remain there, which is nice. But I since then have become even more efficient at killing thugs on my sharp (Deathstalker mod, attack his arms, when he vomits I just go after the other arm, plus the poison does like 440 dmg), and money isn't a problem either anymore so, this just was more of a fun early game video I suppose haha

@ItsAlkron Actually, your weapons don't remain there. That's why I posted that comment. I stuck three very good weapons in a thug and died and when I went back, they were all gone, they weren't in the thug and I scoured the riverbed and looked everywhere but they were gone.

No, the weapons are still there, however for some reason they get scattered around the area. And to make matters worse, they're often halfway clipping into the ground where they're laying, making them even harder to spot, and even after you locate them, sometimes the pick-up prompt doesn't wanna show up.

I have 30 hours of Logan experience proving this. The weapons are DEFINITELY there somewhere after you revive, but it's possible they'll get glitched into the level-geometry.

@BlackKanano tht happened to me to many times i almost cried once because i threw my zeds demise tht did 1000 and up dmg and i couldnt find it when i went back so now when i get a weapon tht strong i just duplicate it then give one to tht girl to storage it just in case i lose the one i keep especially when i use my skull mods (except left hand of glova) because you can duplicate tht and do you know how to duplicate diamonds if you reply ill sub

You can just attack him and when you see him he's going to attack back off , his attacks are easy to predict and if you are 2 it's much easier cause one can get him from behind. in higher levels you get a shock mod that helps alot since, he is sort of paralyzed and can't attack :)

@owenomg Yeah, I also started mixing up cutting his arms then throwing knives, however, throwing knives doesn't degrade durability. And shock mod becomes expensive as anything to repair. Not entirely loving the current 1440$ repair cost of my shock machete haha

@ItsAlkron Well, today i finished the whole campaign and believe me 1440 isn't much :P, money is the least thing, cause usually when you kill one of those you get like 500 minimum usually , but still if it is about saving money yeah it does take time , but i wanted to do it fast with a m8 so basically the time i didn't use on killing him i used it killing others and doing quests which gave me a good amount of money :), if you need any help add me on steam (mejtr1x)

@owenomg Haha Well I imagine as I work up stronger weapons, it will cost even more, at the moment 1500$ plus all my other knives will near wipe my cash I think. And yeah killing usually gets 500 minimum for me still. Right now I kind of cut the arms off, which drops him to about half, then throw a ton of knives, which usually does it. If I get in a pickle I know who to call I suppose :p

@rubenismaster I would actually highly recommend this later on whenever possible. Because no, they do not lose durability when you throw knives, which can be a huge difference when it starts costing for example, 500 to repair a normal knife, or 1500 for a shock mod knife (I wondered where my money was going then I realized this). But you can throw knives as much as you want and they dont degrade.

Very nice tactic, simple and not weapon breaking, mine, try to break his arms, with blunt weapons, kicks, and punches, then move in for the kill

@gta4digger That's pretty nice, I've tried that before and got both his arms, and didn't realize he could headbutt me so that ended me there. I didn't have too much luck with close range and Thugs so this is what developed to compensate haha

20 infected chasing you...haha well, 3 alcohol = 1 molotov (atleast for me right now), that's a pretty good option there, but I'll assume you don't have a molotov, so I'd say if you can, get behind a closed door, since they can't open doors. That's a really sticky situation..you also could just run away/run backwards and take one out at a time with a decapitation if possible haha Mass confrontation=no haha

@ItsAlkron Thanks, the quest is from a guy in the church, he asks you to find his daughter and wife who are now zombies and put them out of their misery, you go over to a blocked off area packed pull of the infection, whole area quaratined, you start going and BOOM no walkers, just infected sprinting after you :(

@gta4digger I wish I could say I have discovered an easy way to do that, but it's DEFINITELY not stand in fight with your back to a wall. I don't think I've gotten that quest yet, I'm actually still early in the game (but I played the crap out of it and the only available quest I have is the main quest) but I bought Civilization 5 on Steam and have been distracted with that. Whatever you do I just wouldn't stand still with that many infected, and if you have a molotov just make a wall of fire.
