Does not mean you could not bottom before thermal...FREE AIR. Unless it was designed for FREE AIR use(on a baffle board of course),stupid stiff spiders to control the cone.

Ohms is a measurement of impedance in an electrical circuit. It's not necessarily the higher the better or the lower the better however with car audio (or any audio for that matter) it's important to match speakers ratings to amplifiers ratings.

For example: if a speaker is rated for 40 watts RMS @ 4ohms you want to match it to an amplifier that makes similar power @4ohms.
