I still don't understand the television at the foot of Buoso's bed. What is the setting supposed to be in this performance?

@tmwysong I believe it's supposed to be Italy in the post-WWII period -- it looks a lot like an Italian film comedy of the '50s.

Actually the score says its set in 1259, But I do believe it works best in this period.

This is definately a great performance. Very funny. Very musical. Very human. Very true.
And as to being "gringo", Desotavento, sorry, but I couldn't disagree more.
On stage are 4 Italians (2 in the major roles), 4 Americans and a Polish soprano.
The attention to detail is astounding.
And, most important: it's FUNNY!
