I love it so very much to be surrounded by all of such wonderful music lovers, that really feel the same as I do! It's such a good feeling to have been a contemporary of this man.
I LOVE HEAVY METAL , SYMPHONY X , YNGWIE MALMSTEEN , ECT. BUT I TELL ALL MY FREINDS IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE GREATEST MUSICIAN OF OUR TIME YOU MUST TALK ABOUT GLENN GOULD . .DAMN THAT MAN WAS A GOD!!! OH BY THE WAY , IF TRY THAT ( HE WAS UNORTHADOX) CRAP I'LL JUST CALL YOU A RETARD.
Bach keyboard concerto 1 in d minor and this one in g are both what I call little preseants from God, wrapped and presented to us by Glenn Gould. A beautiful, joyful expression of love to mankind.
@fr3d420 You may not like the word religion, but find something from the spirit of LOVE and connect with that. Religion is the organized study of god. You can chuck that (God doesnt mind) but go on your own personal search for truth and spirit and you will find HIM, and I assure you that experience will be nothing like what you thought, or religion teaches.
When I go walking down that long tunnel, I dont think it will be Jesus meeting me at the other end. And that long tunnel wont be sloping upward, but almost vertically downward.
Glenn has always inspired me to try harder in my piano practicing. I remember watching him live on CBC and listening to his radio programmes. I thought he was brilliant and a great entertainer. His comedic characters were excellent. He was ahead of his time.

'entertainer', eh, hehe. right, fucking "entertainer", a euphenmistic title for clowns, lol, such a 'grand' title you've given the one and only Glenn Gould, eh. Bach's music is as holy as the Bible, and yet, we call the Men of God by the title of prophet, and yet to glenn gould, it seems be just sufficient to call him a clown with some form of euphenism. Hehe, we dont fucking deserve to have him.
obviously you must be too young to remember him in a personal sense. His characters on CBC television were hysterically funny. You must not have listened to "So you want to write a fugue?' either. You should really be more careful about looking like such a dunderhead in public. Glenn would not have given you the time of day. He was a genius, not an ingenuous moron as you seem to be.
This is my favorite Glenn Gould recording on Columbia (they did it in New York with Glochsmann and the NY Phil players. To see it here is unbelievable. Thanks so much!
I have always loved this piece, and am literally blown away by how even more beautiful it sounds with the piano replacing the solo. What a fantastic man Gould was, and how wonderful of you to post this. Thanks !

I imagine slowly walking down a tunnel of light to meet Jesus in heaven. (Although I am not religious, I feel like this is an appropriate image)

Haha sounds quite religious to me :D
logosthedestroyer 2 years ago
A very appropiate image though, since Bach himself was in fact a very religieous man.

sadly, the orchestra does not really match gould's playing style
