okay guys, every martial arts is the same at its quality, because they all have similarities, there are over 10000 martial arts and half the ppl commenting that e.g karate is stronger than taekwondo, or taekwondo is uselss, what about aikido, what about kenjutsu, what about ninjutsu, what about taekkyun, what about hapkido, what about hwarangdo? think agin they all trace back to one person
i bet you if you try to do any of these flashy kicks in UFC or any MMA fight your going to get knocked out. hitting those boards doesn't mean anything, they don't hit back -Bruce lee. i mean look at those boards there like 2 cm wide and these tournaments they have don't mean anything they have tons of rules. i mean the UFC have rule but there rules are small ones like no poke in eye or hit in balls. other then that you good.
@bboyloco3 since when did anyone say these kicks would be useful in the UFC? MMA, especially in the UFC is primiarily a submission sport, takedowns, wrestling, ju jitsu, etc, with some hand &foot strikes (basic ones). TKD is an impressive art to watch &the people who work hard to learn these fantastic, stunning, kicks &moves should be applauded, very cool.
Guys chill. I've been doing TKD for almost a decade and i've checked out a few other martial arts. It doesn't matter what martial arts are better against others. If you are seriously trained in martial arts, you learn enough discipline to not attack people on the street. Martial arts are for self defence, so really, outside of sport, different styles of martial arts shouldn't compete against each other.
People say Muay thai is better than taekwondo but everyone knows it's wrong Muay thai may be tough but taekwondo has harder kicks may thai has only low kicks knees, eelbows.Taeowndo uses high, spinning, jumping, low kicks elbows, knee's,pressure points, throws, joint locks, chocking techniques. They even teach killing techniques to high level taekwondo practioners.
If it's fancy would they learn high, spinning, jumping, low kicks elbows, knee's,pressure points, throws, joint locks, chocking techniques. They even teach killing techniques to high level taekwondo practioners. You think they teach a muay thai fighter how to kill. The answer is NOOO.
Ok, my point is that TKD, Karate, Muay Thai, KungFu...and all other "cultural" martial arts can no longer be effective by itself because MMA is showing how "real-life" fighting truly is. It's unpredictable and many times ends on the ground. BUT, Jujitsu by itself is also worthless if you are not a striker as well.
My point is that Martial Arts is evolving and I believe that schools which teach Mixed Martial Arts will be the most successful in the future. Thank You.
I'm sure that the Tae Kwon Do fighter that has learned to exploit the weaknesses in Muay Thai will be more successful against Thai fighters than an even more athletic TKD master who knows nothing of Muay Thai. But imagine the the TKD Master has spent most of his years fighting boxers and the average TKD guy has never heard of boxing, who will do better? tkd vs muay thai is an over simplification and its not just the fighter because without a martial art the more athletic person wins every time.
I compete and train in Muay Thai at Master toddy's lion heart gym in las vegas, and prior too that I did WTF TKD for 8 years, winning 2000 junior olympic gold in san antonio texas. Never lost any of my amateur muay thai "Smokers" going so far 4-0-1. And I tell you Muay Thai builds you tough, I kick n walk through anything it feels like, But once in a while when I bust out my tkd shuffle/fast kick or counter back kicks, most of them pure Nak Muay's always fall for it, or get nailed hard.
Goes to show you its the fighter not the "style". And that comes from experience. I'll stick with my Muay Thai through, But taekwondo will always be my first love. And what a mix when I combine the two. Now thats what I call Quick(tkd) and deadly(muay thai) lol
Nice post! I love the slowmotion! It looks like the 2de kick does put a big strain on the legs. You can see how he puts his feet and jumps in that position and the way he lands on one leg!
Anyway any martial arts can be used on the streets! Altho why would you do that? If you use Taekwondo on the streets to fight people, your scum and dont deserve the teachings! It is for defence only!
As to wich martial art is best: All of them! Every martial art has their secrets! For you to find them!
omg..torpedo192... its a martial art.. it can work anywhere.. it sounds like u did TKD on a streetfighting and u got yourself kicked very badly..that only proves that u are a bad figther .. not that TKD aint for the streets, besides any martial art is designed for self defense and to kick ass in any fucking place.. retard!
What a moron. When some jerk attacks you in a street they won't be doing Muay Thai. Also, TKD can beat Muay Thai and vice versa depending on the fighter.
Just because Ong Bak is Muay Thai doesn't mean that TKD guys are weaker than Muay Thai guys. That doesn't make any sense. You need to look at each individual and not be biased.
lmao u one of those idiots who think one martial art is better than another well let me tell u thats not true is the fighter not the style u dumb fuck
So u one of them dumb fucks who think a master in judo will have a chance against say a master in Jeet kun do (Bruce lee style)?? Fighting style matters u idiot.
Taekwondo is actually useful in street fighting. Think about this, if someone can accurately kick as fast as people punch. He has a longer range and more powerful attacks. Those kicks just show what taekwondo is capable of, not that anyone would ACTUALLY use those kicks in a serious fight.
The show TKD u see here and the "Western" TKD you maybe know, are not TKD at its full power.
I don't know what you think is designed for the streets, but if punching with the power to break stone and the speed of friggin light aint designed for the streets, okay. And if putting someone in a jointlock before he even notice whats going on aint designed for the street, okay. And if taking someone out, or even killing someone with great speed and accuracy aint either, then ur right.
Actualy your can aim your kick... When it hit your oponent is most likely on the ground... I've seen the 2de kick in a sparring competition and it was instand K.O.

I'm Korean/American....so don't accuse me of being anti-Korean.
TKD is out-dated! Martial Arts has evolved and TKD is going to dissolve soon.
TKD is a "fancy" martial art, and not effective in the real world.

muay thai boran (more ancient version) has killing techniques.
if a tkd practitioner would train his arms like a karateka and his feet like a muay thai practitioner, he would be nearly undefeated in stand combat.

every martial art is effective, no matter what type, where from,
TKD is out-dated? you know nothing about martial arts then, Taekwon Do is the mos practiced martial art in the world

TKD is 90% Kicks and 10% Punches
Im red belt, but Im very good, Box is 100% Punches, If you think that I will let the boxer come close to me, HAHAH your wrong.
he can protect his face with his arms, but my kick will pass through and he will punch hiself.. then the 2nd is allready coming..
Legs are strouger than Arms
BlinkilI 3 years ago 2
And still, a TKD Master will OWN a boxer in close combat (boxers can block and punch, thats about it, not enough to win a battle ;))
mennoace 3 years ago
Your kind of wrong because in taekwondo it's 70%
kicking and 30% percent punches. But my TKD WTF instructor makes us use them almost equally.Remember almost.

Exactly Mennoace, I'd love if Taekwondo designed for the streets, coz i've been doin it for years.
But, it was designed by a bunch of koreans for war on dirt roads.
Nowadays, its designed for the Olympic games.
Practically speaking, kung/fu mu thai is more practical, well balanced close and far range combat with accuracy, speed etc etc.
