  • Boring show

  • Norman Lear is a fucking genuis period!

  • and then, of course, there is maude!

  • so this show was just her walking past the camera?

  • Donny Hathaway neither wrote or produced the theme song...

  • That was an ordeal.

  • Donnie Hathaway did this song wrote n produced it

  • Amelia Earhart flew a lot of airplanes, except for that one time when she didn't came back

  • And then there's Tom...

  • "Joan of Arc with the Lord to guide her. She was a sister who really cooked." LOL.

  • The artist is Donnie Hathaway who sang This Christmas. He wrote the song also

  • The singer sounds eerily similar to Wayne Brady.

  • How did Maude get pregnant and have an abortion? Like, didn't her penis get in the way?

  • @DeeArrindahood God will get you for that.

  • @DorothyZbornak1922 I'm an athiest

  • I would Sooo do Maude.

  • @KREEPNASTY1 HOW? Wouldn't her penis get in the way?

  • @DeeArrindahood LOL...I never thought about that.

  • What makes you better if you knew this song before Family Guy? What makes us worse if we knew it on Family Guy? Bunch of bitches looking for thumbs up...

  • Who cares if Family Guy brought you here, just enjoy the video. Seriously, just because you knew something before a popular thing advertised it doesn't make you better than someone else who got curious, it just makes you annoying. That's like me messing with my little cousin for just getting into MJ's music after he died, she just was never introduced to his music and needed a little push to hear a quility musician. I'm sick of people begging for thumbs up on stupid shit like this. Damn... -_-

  • @celestialwolf93 consider there are a lot more important things to get sick about. this one is about 182,963 on the list.

  • @MisterBouncyBounce Well that's true, but still it's annoying.

  • Family Guy lol sorry folks

  • Those of you who love seeing 'Maude' on Antenna TV, raise your hand.

  • I loved her sarcasm.

  • I am here because of Family guy............and yeah, the song is not the same.

  • just came because of family guy lol

  • @Benhllballer me too... Fam Guy picks the most random anecdotes from pop culture

  • That was an ordeal.

  • RIP Donnie Hathaway.

  • @STEVEISMYBITCH One of the greatest. Fantastic singer and piano player.

  • i know this because of family guy lmao

  • I watch this because of Deadpool!

  • i watch this because of family guy

  • Bea Arthur was the best. RIP !

  • Thank you Family Guy !

  • 0:43 = Drunk Maude

  • ♫ That old compromising, enterprising, anything but tranquilizing, right on Maude ♫ ♥

Thumbs up if you can sing that part without messing up :D

  • Christ, I haven't seen this since I was a kid in the 70's! All I remember about it was the intro, in fact... it came on just before my bedtime, and I always thought it was about a lady on tranquilizers or something (listen to 0:39.) Funny how kids hear things. Anyway, thanks for posting this!

  • Ithink this theme song for Maude is even cooler than the one for All in the Family.

  • And then there was Adrianne Barbeux (Spelling?) with her huge breasts!!!

  • @xcellken1 BarbeAU.

  • That ole compromising, enterprising, anything but tranquilizing, Right on Maude!

  • that carol looked good

  • Well that was an ordeal!

  • bea arthur!!! hell yeah

  • RIGHT ON MAUDE !!!!!!!!

  • And thumbs up if you didn't know of the original UNTIL "Family Guy."

  • Why more of this thumbs up crap?????? Enough already!!!!

  • God will get you for that @woothestar

  • 'That uncompromising, enterprising - anything, but tranquilising, right on, Maude!'

    Donny Hathaway, R.I.P.

  • My mom used to dress like Maude; she was tall, too. I loved it. Great memories of the 1970s. I remember Monday nights at 9:30, just would watch the show to hear this theme song; I was only 10, so it was still a little above my understanding.

  • @TypesALot

I was about six or seven when Maude first aired. I didn't watch Maude because this show was completely over my head but I danced to the theme song and wondered why the adults were cracking up so hard!

  • LOL Maude ROCKS

  • God will get you for that Walter......

  • I think this may be my favorite TV theme.

  • Archie Bunker must have 21 youtube accounts

  • family guy is winning the thumbs up, jus sayin

  • Amelia Earhart flew a lot of airplanes except for that one time when she didn't come back.

  • And then there's Maude!

  • I am 15, I was brought here by the Golden Girls. :D I love how Bea's characters are always snappy with quick comebacks and remarks, both in GG and Maude. :D

  • I love that lady been watching her shows for over 40 years!!!!

  • A million air hostess fly a million airplanes cept for the time when they didnt come back.

  • @tonymontana1974 *Amelia Earhart

  • AND THEN THERES MAUDE! C'MON!

  • aye dat joan of ark line was fucked up.

  • Bea Arthur gives me a fucking enormous boner

  • @etweinberg I think I just threw up in my mouth

  • AHHHHHH that was an ordeal

  • AHHHH! AHHHHH!

    THAT was an ordeal!

  • This show started in 1972. Those cars look quite old for that time period.

  • @raybo1018 Supposedly, that footage was filmed in 1968 for the pilot of "All In The Family."

  • Interesting to see some of the old finned cars of the 50's still on the road in '72.

  • @mx94racer Yes, the early 70s had a few holdover things from the 50s. Some people still had milk delivered then.

  • Respond to this video... The 2nd best TV theme of all time (Good Times was a little better!) But the irony of a sassy 70s R&B song about a bossy self-befuddling middle aged white liberal is too funny for words. This just could not happen on TV today. It wouldn't have the same effect in an age when every human activity is presented as ironic.

  • @pnyc1969 This beats G.T. any time.

  • Anyone notice how the house exterior they zoom in on is not the same as Maudes when she opens the door?..

  • @mx94racer ...yes, I noticed the same thing.

  • this looks like it might Be a show aBout my mum

  • As much as I hate Family Guy (not my brand of humor), I must admit that it does introduce the younger people to the older shows and music.

  • Joan of Ark was a sister who really cooked. Ouch!

  • And thumbs up if you already knew of the original BEFORE "Family Guy."

  • @dereka79 SURE DID.......... BUTTHE FAMILY GUY SKIT WAS HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rue not credited yet, I see...

  • Wow family guy is bringing people here.... i mean family guy is really funny and all but shouldnt this show be classic????

  • family guy brought me here

  • AND THEN THERES MAUDE CMON!!!!!! lololol

  • The show was hysterical and a landmark. It also showed that liberals don't have all the solutions although they think they do, and can be just as wrong and stubborn as conservatives. But by 1978 the show ran out of steam like all the other social comedies of the 1970s. Just like fashion, tv shows go out of style as well.

  • she was way better as dorothy sbzornak

  • @johnwallaceist I agree, I love Bea Arthur as Dorothy on The Golden Girls, as well as her movies, specials and live shows she did. Just didn't care for her as Maude. I found the character pretty annoying.

  • @Brdj010 ........i would guess by your webpage of p.j. o'rourke quotes that you might dislike maude. but cant you see how they made her look like a liberal goofball in the same way they made archie bunker look like a conservative goof ball?

  • Family guy video cracks me up

  • That was an ordeal.

  • i wouldnt fuck david allen grier with b. arthurs dick

  • antenna tv is on 39.2 in houston

  • Thumbs up if you like the Family Guy version better.

  • Ahhhh ahhhh, there you go! That was an ordeal!

  • And then there's Maude.

  • Antenna tv is on channel 5-2 lol :)

  • @irvingserrot626 - Antenna TV is on channel 43-2 in the Harrisburg, PA area. It's on channel 17.3 in Philly.

  • Bea Arthur rules! Loved her in this and The Golden Girls. RIP!

  • i wish it was longer

  • Gwer

  • WTF happened to Antenna TV???? I got it for a few weeks and was watching shows like this that I thought I wouldn't like but actually find hilarious.... Then one day Antenna TV just disappeared.... Where am I going to get my "Good Times" fix now???

  • @deanof76 I'm still getting Antenna TV here in Philly... must be something channel specific? I love it too--there's so many of these good shows I was too young to see the first time around.

  • @mnestic Hey!! So it miraculously just started working again.... I wonder if it was just a problem in my area or on my tv..... Thanks for the info and have a great day!!

  • @deanof76 Yay, I'm glad you got it back! You have a good day too. :)

  • And then theres maude.... AND THEN THERES MAUDE COME ON!

  • @themashwatcher585.. it's on at antenna tv.

  • Susan B. Anthony, always out doin stuff.

  • i wonder if anyone watching this video didnt find out about it through family guy?

  • @Giantsrock2368: I've known of "Maude" for years and often watch clips of vintage TV programs on You Tube. The show was associated, as the credits indicate, with Norman Lear. He was also the producer, and or creative consultant, of these hit shows: "All in the Family", "Sanford and Son", "The Jeffersons", "Good Times", "One Day at a Time", "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", "Fernwood 2-Nite", and "Archie Bunker's Place".

  • @ACcountryFan oh.....

  • maude is awesome also check out amen and that girl

  • I didn't know about this show til I saw it on family guy

  • why doesnt tvland have this show on

  • I love Maude & Walter! The perfect couple! ;-) lines as "God'll get ya' for that" & "(loud) Maude, sit" are lines that get me tears from my eyes from laughing so much! Thanks to the creator & writers of this show for such an excellent sitcom!

  • Maude is one of my favorite shows of all time..she is so funny and clever and makes me laugh..I am so glad the show was created..I now watch it every day on Antenna TV..god bless Maude

  • That was an ordeal!

  • It's funny Bea Arthur looks a lot younger on Golden Girls than on Maude... and Maude is 10 years older than the Golden girls..

  • The worst show ever I can think of she always shouting yelling 

  • Amelia ehrhardt flew a bunch of airplanes, except for that one time when she didnt come back

  • Indira Gandhi ran a really big country, and that isn't easy, even if you're a guy!

  • I'd totally do bea arthur..oh yeah..I'd pound that white cooch till christmas..its the grey hairs..ooooooo yeah...

  • I HATE MAUDE!

  • Babe Zaharias was a famous athlete, good at Track & Field and Professional Golf too

  • Susan B Anthony was always out doin stuff...

  • This is one of my best shows that I still watch on television.

  • How was Bea Arthur Maude? I bet Bea Arthur never had sex

  • Comment removed

  • Lol family guys version was better

  • @coolboyt wow...you just proved you have no taste...

  • Thumbs up if family guy brought you here

  • @WooTheStar Nope, it was The Golden Girls that brought me here.

  • @WooTheStar: Donny Hathaway brought me here.

  • Huh... I was sure listening to the voice on family guy that Maud would be black.

  • Donny Hathaway! He sung this perfectly!

  • i like the part when they say and then theres maude

  • Ah...Donny Hathaway. Great singer who lived a very short life ending in suicide. Love his duets with Roberta Flack.

  • @SS421982 I'll have to check him out. Did he also sing the theme song to "Good Times"?

  • So many people who watch Family Guy don't understand half the jokes in Famlly Guy, mainly because they are too young and uniformed . The show is constantly making reference to 70's and 80's life, pop culture and politics - the parady of Maude is just one example.

  • @guyinfl99 true dat. I'm 18 and i understand some of them due to my love of 80s movies and the likes such as the references to fast times at ridgemont high, 16 candles and the likes. However, most people my age would not get them. I didn't get the maude one initially until i realised bea arthur was maude before the golden girls so i started to watch it. I quite enjoy it for its liberal style.

  • @667neighborofdabeast It's nice to see someone younger who understands that the world existed before they did and who has the intillectual curiousty to learn about the past. Seth MacFarlane is about 40, not a teenager like a lot of Family Guy viewers, so if your view of the world only starts in the 1990's there is no way you can appreciate the show fully.

  • @guyinfl99 I don't watch Family Guy, so I didn't know that. I give them mad props for keeping the '70s and '80s alive in current society. I'm very partial to both of those decades :)

  • i didn't think this was an actual tv show XD

  • When I first heard "Joan of Arc was a with the Lord to guide her, she was a sister who really cooked" I turned to my mom and asked, "Didn't Joan of Arc get burned at the stake?"

We both lol'd hard. I love the morbid humor. :D

  • Comment removed

  • @vulcangrl13 Lady Godiva was a Freedom Rider, she didn't care if the whole world looked. Joan of Arc with the lord to guide her, she was a sister who really cooked. Isadora was the first "bra burner" and you're glad that she showed up. And when the country was falling apart, Betsy Ross got it all sewed up. The references to these 4 women are parallel to the character Bea Arthur played in the series Maude.

  • i love this show its so much like our british sitcoms here in britian.

  • Is that Donnie Hathway singing the theme song?

  • @BlaqueReign25 Yes. =)

  • @DorisDayFanatic Thank you, I thought so but I wasn't for sure, thanks again!

  • ahh ah ah there we go that was an ordeal

  • Lmao :P family guy bbc3 haha

  • Family Guy :o)

  • Just saw it on family guy... what is this shit?

  • @bornsleepy771 Uhh, it's a theme song.

  • FAMILY GUY :D

  • I didnt know of this show's existence until Family Guy....

  • just seen this on family guy

  • Thumbs up if you just saw this on Family Guy.

  • @LiveForFunny i banned family guy due the federal law saying that you cannot be on a game show more than once

  • @LiveForFunny yes i saw this on family guy

  • @LiveForFunny why would I want to do that? No offense-it's just every time I come here because I saw "x" on "y", there's someone demanding I thumb them up. So, really, I'm just curious. Is there a reason? Or is it because someone else did it? I'm really not trying to be a jerk, I just was hoping someone could enlighten me.

  • @skeeter197140 Call me crazy, but I *think* it's because they maybe want their comment to have lots and lots of "likes"?

  • @LiveForFunny Kids today...don't know shit unless it's referenced somewhere else...

  • @dabearcub dummy, kids cant watch it, because its not on tv? hmm

  • family guy brought me hear

  • i wonder why this was never seen in the uk?

  • @salfordguy69 It was shown in the UK, but late on in the Yorkshire region. The Paul O'Grady Show also tweaked the theme tune to go 'and then there's Paul...'

  • That was an ordeal.

  • I used to watch that when I was a kid with my family, now I have know Idea why.

  • Norman Lear is the reigning King of spin offs: Maude, Good Times, All in the Family, Archie Bunkers Place, Gloria, The Jeffersons, (Lionel Character, M. Evans, with the Fro actually wrote Good Times for Norm)

  • @KDubbCX Yup, these are all spin offs of All in the Family, except Good Times, which is a spin off of a spin off of All in the family (Maude).

  • @guyinfl99 Wasn't "One Day at a Time" a spin-off of any of these, or was it its own show?

  • @StukInBuf I believe One Day at a Time was a Norman Lear show, but I'm not aware of it being a spin-off.

  • @StukInBuf good times was a spin-off of this show
