  • The flathead Ford/Merc V8 has my all-time favorite exhaust tone. Sweet enough to put on your pancakes.

  • i think that v8 would fit in my truck but i would have to fix that water leak. LOL

  • Hello tcountry1926, I really admire your engines, I just finished a similar motor, it has a nice deep lope & I think will give yours a run for your money when I get it completely dialed in, but right now fuel & ignition still needs work, my email is oldtrukluvr@twcny.rr.com - I'm in northern NY, wondering where you are, would enjoy getting an eyeball in person- All the best- Doug

  • oldtrukluvr, I have several videos at tcountry1926 on youtube. I tried to send some photos, where you said but didn't work. Tell me the e-mail address again and I will try again. The lower pan vent is still operational ( no pcv valve on this one, I usually do that on 49-53 engines) The boat was test run this late fall, and he said it run good, hope to get a ride in it next summer. Thanks for looking.

  • Well Done!! This is by far the smoothest running flathead V8 marine engine on earth. I'd like to see some photos of the pump, belts & cooler arrangements you came up with if you wouldn't mind sending to me direct oldtrukluvr at twcny.rr.com , also I was wondering if you plugged the road draft tube and PVC'd one of the carbs instead? A follow up video in the boat would be awesome- Thanks for sharing this clip..@54blueflamesix...I looked for your HOTT engine videos and couldn't find any?

  • Ok- looks good --sounds good -- need a shot of this Back in boat -- idling 10 min

with engine hatch open -- or better --removed for shake down run --and video

running -open water ---- Best oil to use for this engine is Valvoline -V-R- 30wt

best protection --and change 2-3 times yearly with oil filter - please make us

    a new video ----Thanks

  • @54blueflamesix Thanks for looking. The owner said I could take a ride in the boat when its finished, maybe this fall. I will take a video of it then.

As far as oil I prefer Schaeffer's 15-40. I have been using it for over 40 years. The supreme 7000 is a synthetic blend 15-40, 100% parifin base, with liquid moly, and all the additives needed for flat tappet cam engines.

  • @tcountry1926 Parifin based oil is only good for ruining /stopping up oil passages

Valvoline VR- 1 -- 20W--------20/50 -------60 wt all petrolium based oil and better

at keeping engines clean -- and 1800ppm of additives -and ZDDP -- for 1990

and older engines -- our machine shop has been going for 75 years -- and we

have seen what second rate oils can do to a engine --first hand -- Valvoline

has been proctecting our engines since 1955 -- why take a chance --

  • @54blueflamesix Your wrong, Schaeffer's lubrication products are the worlds BEST.

  • Do you know where I can get a book detailing how to marinize flathead?

  • Great piece of machinery there!

  • Its going back in the 21 ft vintage mahagony hulled boat it came out of. The boat is completely rebuilt to new condition. It should be back in the water by june of 2010.

  • Oh that is just too sweet! Dropping it an old wood Chris Craft I hope!

  • that's pretty epic to say the least!!!

  • That is fantastic! Looks great and sounds better....what are you putting it in?
