The scariest movie i've ever seen. Why? Because it almost happened to me and my cousin,i wont go into detail but we were 97% outta gas and got off the nearest highway exit and got stuck on a one way road that took us deep in the hills. All i'll say is we were willing to do whatever to survive but it didn't get that far,we made it back to the highway.

For me it was one of the first survival cult movies capturing the battle of man's survival in the outdoors, with more than a little touch of the dark side. It's still a powerful movie and I never get tired of watching it. Another great movie from John Boorman.

This is my favorite scene in the movie. I think it sums up the whole movie. I fell in love witht this movie and scene and have a canoe and bow that I fish with. Makes me feel like I could survive when the 'Machine' fails.

I've read some books on people surviving in difficult conditions, like the holocost, and a point is made that those who lived the most pampered lives are the ones that fail to adjust.
