  • The was a horrible time for chapman but somehow our schools ended up with 300 more kids??

  • I live 6 miles away from Chapman and go to school there. That tornado wiped out all of our schools. And today's voting day for the bond for new schools!

  • I lived in Manhattan as a child on Stagg Hill. I have lived in Northern California for the past 30 years where the weather is always non threatening. A few earhquakes once in a while. I find Tornadoes much more terrorizing. If I have to visit Kansas for any reason. I must have a basement room to sleep in. Otherwise, I'd probably develop anxiety if the sky turns grey. In california, when its grey, its either fog or light rain. But in Ks, it seems like an automatic Tornado watch.. Yikes..

  • man thats insane i am so glad australia dosnt get tornadose

  • australia does get them...

  • We do get them but they happen in places like Perth and brisban but i am not sure if we get them big or not because i live in katoomba and i haven't herd any history about katoomba getting them so i would'nt know

  • this tornado hit my town adn it was not cool 1 person died and 85 percent of the town was desrtroyed includong the elementary middle and high school of chapman

  • I am so sorry robomantis for what that imbecile black78shit have said about deserving storms etc...

I can't beleive he/she said that! come on people think before you write damn!

  • Wow just because you said that you will probably get screwed by some tornado.

  • I am so sorry robomantis for what that imbecile black78shhhhithead have said about you deserving storms...

I can't beleive what people vomit these days

come on people think before you do something

  • hahahah i hoope the bottom part of the last comment was a joke

  • Well, there have been instances of tornadoes in England...there was one that hit part of London last year. I am presently living in the UK and let me tell you, the wind can blow just as hard here as it does in some places in the U.S.

  • I VERY STRONGLY DISAGREE!!! Storms here are about 10x Worse here guarenteed espacially if you live in my area. Yesterday we had just a big thunderstorm and it had 70mph winds and it was 250 miles long and those are common!!!! So don't even tell me England has bad storms. Tornados only happen in America (FACT)!

  • Actually, tornadoes have occurred on every continent except Antarctica. They are simply more common in the United States than anywhere else in the world.

  • Actually there are more tornadoes per year in the UK than there are in america. They are just less powerful than the american ones.

  • Those are the baby tornados half of them are waterspouts (95% are less harmless then real tornados).

  • LOL....false

  • You sir, are and idiot.

70 mph winds occuring along either a 250 mile squall line is not "common". And if thats not the case, a single storm with enough energy to produce 70 mph winds AND travel 250 miles is even less common.

Again, I reiterate, bad storms (***INCLUDING TORNADOES***) occur on every continent except Antarctica. If you're not going to do your homework, please slap yourself in the face repeatedly.

  • and this is why i am glad i don't live in america, id be terrified lol. happy england

  • people my birthday is June 11th im 10 years old omg :[

  • Here is a fact. When the tornado touches ground there isnt any raian falling its a logical fact. Also there is thunder and lighting before but non when the tornado is touching the ground then after there will be some thunder and lighting and thena fter a few minutes the storm will move on. Also thousands of tornados touch down a day. :)

  • This tornado was rainwrapped. So that fact is not always true.

  • Your an idiot. Thousands of tornados do not touch down everyday. There are only select places on our planet where tornadoes even form. quit trying to act smart, and do some research.

  • Tornadoes have occured on every continent except Antarctica. They may not occur everyday but they are fairly widespread.

CatieRo11 is right - tornadoes can form rainwrapped. Lightning strikes the planet thousands upon thousands of times per day per second which makes it VERY likely that lightning is occuring during a tornado touchdown, let alone before or after the tornado forms.

If you're going to make such basic comments, at least do your homework.

  • wow at the beginning its so weird how its sunny on one half and a huge funnel cloud at the end

  • fuck oakland i live in castro valley

  • dangerous-looking clouds!!!

  • i love storms so much!

  • I'm a KU Jayhawk fan and even though KSU is our rivals those people effected on campus have lives more than just playing softball or baseball football basketball etc they were in there dorms that got ripped apart!!!

  • Loved that video, real intense, don't need to put stupid heavy music to dramatise the situation even further like other storm video's. Loved the autenticity.

  • ooo and that 24/7 gas station was in salina....the sirens were goig off like crazy that night...i hated it..my dog was frecking out..she didnt want me to go over to my neighbors hause for a basement

  • i had a softball game that got cancelled because of this storm

  • I have been "from" Chapman all my life. Even though I am no longer a resident I announce Sports for the Fighting Irish teams and am proud to be an alum and live in Manhattan with the K-State Wildcats. We are resilient and will rebuild our lives and our families. One of the signs exposed through the gymnasium wall after the storm reads "Determination". All your rude comments mean nothing to the Fighting Irish alumni and our SPIRIT is greater than ANYTHING you can sling. Hello fellow IRISH!

  • that was my b-day shoot

  • I use to live in abilene and we would always go to chapman i am still in shock with everything I wish i was closer to help out it has to be very devistating for the families there

  • KSNT TV online: Fund Set Up For Chapman School District. A fund has been set up in Chapman for monetary donations to help their school district rebuild after last week's devastating tornado. You can send checks to the Astra Bank in Chapman. The address is PO Box 189, Chapman, Kansas, 67431. You should make the checks payable to the USD 473 Chapman School's Tornado Relief Fund. District officials say school will begin in the fall, although in temporary locations.

  • Irish Proud and thanks chapmangrocery > for supporting the family values of small town USA.

  • How horrible.

  • The house at 2:18 was mine.

  • I'm so sorry :(

  • wow thats some scary house....looks like one of those 70's...some witch houe:| but w/e sorry.must be very hard on you:(

  • Monetary donations can be mailed to the City of Chapman Disaster Relief Fund, c/o City of Chapman, 402 N. Marshall, Chapman, Kansas 67431, for more information call Chapman Police Department 785-922-6463

  • I am glad I don't live there.

  • im live in chapman. I was in the front yard when the sirens went off for the sencond time, thought nothing of it because everyone said since we're in a valley, we'd be safe...so i had a police scanner with me, monitoring the storm...got in my truck, had the keys in the ignition, turned the radio on.the scanner was breaking up so much because of the storm i couldnt really hear...when i heard a police officer say, "843, right over you"! i ran to the door and got my mom, and took cover

  • Totó! Think we are not in Kansas anymore!

  • You are a moron. Who are you trying to be, Fred Phelps? If so, get a life.

  • I remember that night. x_x

    We lost power all night.

  • tornado missed us by 2 miles i was at camp webster for church camp were praying for u

  • I thought it was crazy how the tornado struck chapman....JUMPED over Junction City....and came back down on Manhattan!!

  • The Chapman tornado occluded (roped out) north of I70. The Manhattan tornado was from a different circulation that developed in the storm. That tornado first touched down near Ogden and tracked up into Manhattan. These were two separate tornadoes and nothing was on the ground when the storm tracked over Junction City.

  • Nothing was on the ground in junction but there was still had a funnel in the area.

  • I'm not a religious man but I'm starting to wonder....

  • that tornado went by not even half a mile south of where I live. friend's house on Dartmouth got hit bad.

  • Good video watched from north east side of Manhattan what a night!

  • Thanks for all of the kind words! Brandon is my chase partner and it was definitely a night to remember. It's hard to watch a tornado that is completely rain-wrapped move through a city at night. Thoughts go out to everyone affected by the tornadoes we witnessed that night. Go State!

  • Great footage, I have family in Manhattan Kansas and I keep looking for real coverage....I also lived in Manhattan for 10 years...THANKS for your time and effort to let us see more!

  • Is a tornado a new thing? I think they've been around awhile, don't think it's Gods hatred, think it's the weather that God created, that has been going on forever!

  • Im on holiday in Barbados there was a hurricane warning -_-

  • i remeber that night when those tornadoes went threw florida lady lake it was so close to me

  • if this happened in california!! everyone would shit themselves!!

  • god are those camera men ever brave

  • Tell me about it! If I heard one of those tornado sirens going off, I'd probably be in a basement so fast it'd put The Flash to shame xD

  • holly shit

  • That's Cool!

  • I lived in Kansas for 6 years. We never had a tornado where I was. However, when I lived in Georgia, we had them ALL the time.

  • sorry for this happening thanks to my friend bandbsmom for sharing

  • i was watching this show about bones yester5day and it's possible to survie in a tornado and being trown on the ground. you just have to ley your self be COMPLETELY limp and not moving or clenching your muscles. the relaxing muscles protect your bones.

  • I graduated from KSU in '91 and according to the maps I've seen of the tornado's track, it went right over my last house on Quivera Circle, half a block from the Engineering building. That hits home, no pun intended. My heart goes out to all the affected in the Little Apple.

  • my heart is going out to manhattan. i graduated from there a couple years ago, and lived within blocks of where there is serious damage now. what a great little town, love my wildcats!

  • when the lightnin started in manhattan i was pitching for my base ball team and about 1 hour after i got home the tornado was in manhatttan

  • we never have tornadoes here in west texas

  • What do you mean no Tornadoes in West Texas! I grew up having to run to the storm shelter in a driving rain. From about Lubbock on down to Snyder there is a "Tornado Alley". People come out to find there tractor and its in a ditch 2 miles away. WED

  • i mean in places like odessa/midland!!!

  • Ok,Ok you are further west than me. However, keep in mind that everyone west of Dallas claims to be a west Texan. I have even heard people in places like Canyon correct me when I referred to West Texas being somewhere else. WED

  • Thank you for this great footage.

  • scarily cool

  • Great footage.

  • Thanks Shelly to share! The tornado a monstrous beauty! Compliments for these images. hi! Pino

  • OW my never seen anything like this

  • I'm also in California. Graduated Chapman '86 and went to K-State. I saw a lot of tornadoes come and go in my years there. Never saw anything like this. God bless everyone there. My prayers are with you.

  • Yeah, people lost their homes and some even lost their lives last night and we turn this into a political discussion? Just goes to show how divided we are. Fuck politics.

  • Nothing divides us greater than our opinions.

Politics = philosophy for the naive.

  • Interesting Video!!

  • in the city

    your a dousche bag.

    nuff said :D

  • i dont think were in kansas anymore

  • First of all I graduated from chapman and now I go to k-state. inthecity can go gang bang everyone of his coke addicted hookers. Thats what city folks like you do right? Go and educate yourself you ignorant bastard

  • I graduated from the same school and go to the same college. How are you doing, fellow Alum?

  • wow, in the city....you obviously have never been to Kansas? what city are you from, i hope i never go there. I'm going to just go ahead and assume everyone there is just like you, since you so freely assume those things about people from Kansas. that is the dumbest statement i have ever read. i am in shock at how ignorant and stupid someone can be. really, what city, cause it needs no natural disaster if it's full of stupid people such as yourself, it will destroy itself.

  • i looked on his page and it says he is from oakland, ca. so i guess we now know where to never go. such a jerk for no reason.

  • Oakland CA is America's garden spot. Headlines from the past few days:

"Afternoon shooting marks Oakland's 58TH homicide of 2008", "No suspects in Oakland fatal shooting Monday", "Oakland city administrator suspected of interfering with police investigation", "Raids target alleged West Oakland gang members", "Longtime city employees married in first same-sex City Hall wedding", "Oakland man sentenced to life in prison for store clerk murder", "Alameda police arrest five in Oakland"

  • I'm so sick of people stereotyping the Midwest.

    InTheCity: go to hell.

  • inthecity, you say you despise red states but you live in california, and your governor is a republican. the governor of kansas is a democrat. so maybe you should stop shooting off your mouth so much.

  • This is worse than any horror movie ever made... the suspense!!! :((( Thanks so much to bandbsmom for sharing this video.

  • Guess intelligence is your specialty ?

  • Dude...dont make this about politics....if youre so worried about our nation, you should come together with everyone and try not to talk shit on people that are part of the same nation as you. This tonado has brought many people together....dems and republicans alike...working together to fix all that has happened. Forget about politics during these times...Have a heart for everyone. Your fellow dems were hit as well....Republicans were hit...everyone was affected.

  • Fair enough.

  • man there was tons of lightning

  • As a KState Alum, my thoughts are with everybody back there. Scary stuff.

  • Awesome video! Luckily my house in Manhattan was spared; It was less than a half mile away from the tornado.

  • I've got friends and family in Abilene nearby and a couple of friends that actually lived in Chapman, it's good to hear that most people were able to get our safely. Your in my thoughts guys. Stay safe.

  • oh my, i live in west virginia and have never seen a tornado because of the mountains. i would be so freaked out.

  • You definitely have a gift for good video's.

  • As a K-State alum, Kansas native living near another "big one" that passed thru recently (Windsor, CO), it's unbelivable how many storms continue to roll thru this year...Thanks for the footage!

  • Just Ohmigod Amazing....

  • Thank you so so much for the Video.

Thank you for sharing with us.

    You are the best hon.

    I mean it.

    Hugs

    Rudina From ALBANIA

  • A força da natureza me fascina, é uma adrenalina inesplicável, apesar das suas consequências. Parabéns pelo vídeo.

  • AWSOME vid i live in salina and we got some damage here bt nothing major

  • Thankfully this tornado didnt hit where I live...I live and Fort Riley and thats about 30 minutes from chapman and 20 minutes from manhattan....this thing went right around us!!! But I have chapman in my thoughts...

  • Thanks for the video..I hope you can recover from this monster. Nature is an awesome thing!

    Jack

  • wow that was bad .

  • Nothing like nature to change things. Ty For sharing bandbsmom

  • It's been one wild spring!!

  • Scary !!!

  • good:) hugs shelly

  • well...living in kansas you get used to the sirens going off..but when you know a tornado touched down..miles from you..that just gets you right in the gut..Glad I have a basement!

    hugs shelly

  • we don't have tornadoes where i live (well, actually we had one but it was small and isolated). i live in washington state and our worse natural disaster is earthquakes. we have bad wind storms, but no tornadoes. so hearing how devastating tornadoes are or can be scares me, but i love watching them form (like before they hit the ground). so this video interests me a lot. this was awesome to watch :) but it's still scary seeing the aftermath destruction.

  • Thanks for putting this up! I live in California and read about this on CNN last night before I went to bed. My dad lives in Enterprise and I went to Chapman and K-State. Even though I'm 1500 miles away, this is still my backyard! Very sad!

  • OH im sorry...yes my sister called from Texas because she saw it on national news this AM...her hubby graduated from Kstate...and they had 20 million in damage at Kstate alone..not including the city of Manhattan...I'm anxious to see more footage...afraid to drive there..just too sad..hugs shelly

  • That is scary.

    Wendy

  • wow,we have tornado warnings til 8:00 tonight,not cool!!!

  • thankyou for sharing this...i was afraid to go to manhattan for a dr's appt...decided to call and cancel..and they didnt answer the phones...assuming they are closed:) gotta luv living in kansas!

  • That's scary.

  • yes it was...a little too close to home :) we got lucky this time!

  • Thank you for this video. I have been wanting to see what happened to my hometown, being gone for summer.

  • Yeah they are all from yesterday evening into the early nightime hours.

  • Great collection of shots! Are these all from last night?

  • Yes, they are from last night - I was watching when they were streaming it live on their website.

The people seen at 1:51 were trying to deter looters (Little Apple Toyota dealership), and asked them to leave.
