i was supposed to have my braces for 4 years , i had a cross bite and an overbite .

but i only had them for 10 months after i wore rubberbands for 3 months to correct everything . i got them off in august , i love the way my teeth turned out !

oh , and retainers kinda hurt when you have them tightened .

@t10h190 My original Ortho moved too far away so I could not get to her. No, the brackets were not changed. The new Ortho used the same brackets as they were fine. One did get loose though and she could not get it back on so she ended up using a molar band. I only have one molar band (a metallic band around my lower right molar to hold the bracket)

It doesn't hurt at all well not while they're putting them on but after you get them on and put your teeth together you will feel slight pain so like eat soft foods (yogurts, chocolate .etc) and drink dairy once a day if you have any questions email me

I had cross bite when I got my braces, and it took about 3 months for any movement, because I started noticing it when my 2 front teeth on the top were unleveled from each other, but now it's fixed.

He counts me as a child and is very stereoypical when it comes to teeth...I'm thinking of changing my dentist, but the thing is, I'm getting lumineer veneers so my teeth would look even more straight at the outer teeth to look more bigger that is.

Well some teeth don't have to move or have moved far enough, so they bend the wires or place little things in your mouth to stop the movement. it is fascinating really.

All ortho are different, so it depends on what they want to do. Mine took I'd say about 6 months to move. Now it has to learn to stay there.

It's funny watching this. I am 27 and I've had braces for exactly two years and they are about ready to come off. At first I had to wear an expander (which in my opinion is the most painful contraption ever invented.) If you think your teeth move a lot try one of those. Plus my two front teeth were angled out at a 45 degree angle. I still have my mamelons (which are supposed to be gone when you are like 7. The reason for this is because my teeth weren't even grinding in the front for 20 years.

I'm 13 and i just got mine on today. getting them on isn't so bad but it might depend on what your orthodontist does. after maybe a few hours, you feel some pain, so you might want to buy some Tylenol and just ask your orthodontist any more questions if something else happens.

don't worry...u will barely feel them after a few weeks. u get used to them. take painkiller (like tylenol) right before they put them on.

the hurt thing depends on how crooked your teeth are. mine were really crooked, so yours are probably better than mine to start out with :) it's not a lot of hurt, just a dull throbbing.

make sure to take care of ur teeth 2 cuz if u dont and get a cavity, they take all the brackets off, fix the cavity, them put em back on.

I just got my braces out today and, despite what people say, it's not too bad It might hurt in the first few hours, but if you stay away from eating hard things you'll be fine. As for brushing your teeth, well, that's hard. You basically have to get in between the tooth and the wire and try to rub the tooth like that. I know it can feel really scary, but it's worth it. And again, it only hurts a little bit when you've gotten adjustements, but it's not so bad. Normally it doesn't hurt at all.
